Here, some real issues from an owner of 10 years here.
    1. Sunroof will leak. It's not IF, it's when. And when it does, you can either replace the seal yourself like I did (it does require tools but I'm an engineer so..) or pay thousands of euros to have the whole thing replaced by the Mercedes
    2. Starters fail since they're the most exposed component at the bottom of the car and will likely get soaked everytime you drive on wet roads
    3. Doors rust (factory recall and warranty issued back in the day) and they rust so hard it almost doesn't make sense to repair them
    4. Boot springs get tired and won't lift the door properly after 10 years
    5. headlights are very inefficient and visibility is poor - LED upgrade recommended
    6. Brake booster is weak from the factory so when it gets older, it makes sense to replace it before it gets even weaker
    7. All major suspension components will need to be replaced at 200k kilometers intervals. Broken springs are a thing, as well as balljoints, shocks, arms etc.
    8. window motors are weak, won't lift glass at satisfactory speed after a while - it's also an indication that the alternator is giving up.
    9. car is very low in the middle due to DPF filer system so you WILL bottom out if you're not careful
    10. Silencer tends to rust because it's not protected. I had mine changed and the old one basically fell apart as they were removing it from the car.
    11. LCD screen will die after 15 years or so. You can replace it yourself by dissembling the instrument cluster, it's pretty plug and play. Replacement costs about 50€
    12. Handbrake is shit by design, when you feel like it's giving up - replace the whole assembly. It's not worth replacing part by part.
Advice - change oil every 10k kilometers, change filters MORE OFTEN than the interval, delete ERG valve and flaps and change engine map to sth more efficient.
Also - preventative care. If you hear sth's off, address it. The car will give back to you. It's a great machine. The engine is bulletproof.
I've also heard that the CVT models are shit because the transmission is very weak, only 250nm max. The manual models can handle much more, 400nm.

For the Handbrake. I rejusted it after it becomes Worn. Its a bit complicated but you can do it alone. (Behind the Back Wheel on Driver Side) You can tight the Belt there with two screws. Its a bit Complicated, but Mercedes give an Instruction for that in the Internet. Other than that, i never had Problems.

B150 gasoline here with 160000km on the clock and zero issues.
Starter motor only fails if you have the "rimenstarter" generator on later models, facelift, my tiny starter sits on the engine above any water...its the alternater and then air compressor that goes boom if you sink it like a boat which never happened to me.
The gasoline takes 7,2L/100km measured with 50%50% mix town and highway use over 7years..
If you drive softly it can run as low as 5,5L/100km on cruise control with 90km/h to 100km/h on long distances.
Oil change very 10k with Rowe 5W40

      @DevouringKing ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@kitecattestecke2303 Confirm. i run 5W40 Total Oil, and i drive most time 100km/h with 5,8l/100km with a B200 (Nonturbo) from 2006. Its a Perfect Car. High Quality, Silent, Smooth. I even would go with B150 or B180, i only dont like Diesel, i always go Gasoline on all cars in my life. I would switch to Electric in the Future, but not to diesel.

I'm probably too Dutch to understand, but this video, that is supposed to be about the problems and weak points of the B Class, is almost completely about the good quality of the car.
The first time in this video a problem is mentioned is at 2:36, and even then only very briefly and kind of sugarcoated.
There is nothing wrong with mentioning the good points of a model, but when the title of the video states that the video is about the week points and common problems of the B Class, why not immediately start mentioning these things?
Again: maybe I am too Dutch too understand. We are very direct and we don't dance around things nore sugarcoat things. We believe that nobody benefits from saying A, while meaning B. In many cultures this Dutch way of communicating is seen as rude and inconsiderate (e.g. look at how Brits react to Max Verstappen's press conferences), and I understand that when I try to put myself in the position of someone who is from a very indirect culture. However, although I wouldn't want to go as far as stating that not being direct in communication is just as rude and inconsiderate, it's always good to try to see things from an other person's perspective.
Or maybe I will have to acknowledge that East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet.

You are so right. I took my car in for a cold start-up noise, and they told me that I needed a new starter motor I then had the starter motor repaired.
The noise did not go away then I googled and bought a tensioner. This was fitted noise was stil there, so I was getting a ticking noise, drove my car, the machanic and asked him to listen so now they told me I needed a. Belt and a tensioner I sourced one the day I took the car in to have the goods fitted the Machanic had an emergency.
Thereafter, I took my car in to 2 garages, and both said it wad my timing belt my car has 100500 kilos on the vlock. Although it's a 2007, it's in very good condition.the cost between the to garages was R26. 000 I opted for the more expensive quote as this Company only work on Mercedes cars

I have b200 cdi 2005. 670.000km and its still good. There is problem with injectors and u need to check them if you hear any unusual sound. Also problem with LCD when engine get 60 degree C LCD DIES, when engine get cooler it will come back. In my country they say here is bad diesel and it take my 11/12l on 100km in busy town and 6l on 100km on highway. I will say that its good car (i didnt say good things because everything except this is good) but you need to be careful what you buying. Also if you dont care for car u can have problem with window electric if u press button to hard, and because of speed bumpers and holes u can have problem…

After I made some research to have long live cvt gearbox must change oil and oil filter at 50 K, gearbox and coupling converter use 7 liters of oil, check the level at 80 degrees after change it,ckeck the level of oil at the gearbox at 10 km when do the Service B maintenace, do not force the transmision until the motor is not warmed at least 60- 70 degrees, not make the kickdown accelerate pedal when start to drive, and not at last have a skilled good tehnician mecanic to make a corect diagnose when apear some issue. I drive an automatic B 170 ,whith alternative fuel LPG, have 210k , no cvt isue until now.
