I honestly don't know if I feel nostalgia for like 20 years ago or if things have become so dystopian that 20 years ago is a substantial upgrade. I feel like I just became an old person and was like "well back in my day things didn't suck"
Or at least they sucked, but heck, at least if you bought something you owned it, and it didn't come with subscriptions, or spied on you, or tried to feed you ads, or threatened to self destruct/brick itself if you tried to repair it, or you had to deal with terms of services so twisted and full of fine print and deceitful language and hidden clauses that would make the devil blush and a genie feel dirty.
It is time for an American revolution. The American capitalists outsourced our quality products for cheap overseas shit. But guess what? Now the overseas shit is even more expensive, AND it breaks every year!
As a nation, it is time for us to stand up and create a NEW American industry. We need manufacturing jobs that make quality products and sell them for prices that all Americans can afford without going broke. This hyper capitalism is not working out at all.
20 years ago is just a lesser evil...
It's true, and not just nostalgia. I want my freedom and privacy back, but it is long gone never to return. Gen Z and newer have been sold the idea that IoT is progress to a better utopian society, so it is the direction we are all being forced to move in, should we choose to participate.

The part that makes me angriest is the fact that this is what these companies are doing with all those endless fucking tax breaks the government gives them.

I remember getting worked up about the privacy implications back in 1994 when my state DOT said they were going to start putting cameras along the highways to remotely monitor traffic. 30 years later, that's positively quaint compared to the violations of privacy we are constantly subjected to today, and what's worse, private industry is now behind the lion's share of it with an active disdain for the customer that disagrees with the practice, all in the name of profit by any means. Even worse, whether through explicit collusion with each other or just an equal indifference towards their customers, it's gotten to where it's almost impossible to find vendors that have any respect whatsoever for their customers' privacy.

Unplug the modem it's not hard
@@waggish4999 actually in most cases yes, it's that hard
Modems are usually integrated into the head unit or other modules, and the car could get bricked if some lines get left floating or if some i2c or CAN thing doesn't get detected
@Monsoon_Enjoyer I'm sure there are cars where that's the case but on fords it's a separate module. The car might freak out a little but everything that doesn't depend on the modem should work.
As someone on the spectrum, a car would make unsolicited advertisements at me exactly once, then I would be physically disabling all the speakers on my vehicle. I cannot stand the idea of random adverts chiming in as I am driving. That would be so mentally jarring.
That makes two of us.
i am someone who honestly thinks advertising should be strait up banned. I make it a point to NEVER buy a product from a company that annoys me with an ad. I have gas stations that I refuse to use due to the gas pumps blasting ads, I don't give a shit if the ad blaster station is $1.00/gal and the non ad blaster is $4/gal Ill be going to the $4 station. I sail the seas if I want to watch a tv show or movie cause I don't want to see ads. Advertising 100% needs to be banned.
Nah, they won't show ads while you're driving. Those will be audio only, interrupting your music or podcast or whatever unimportant nonsense you actually want to listen to. However you'll probably be forced to watch ads every single time you start your car up. They're pushing all digital displays and controls, so no gauges, no audio and no HVAC until the ads are finished, so sit there like a good little consoomer and wait until your time has been properly monetized. Oh, you're in a hurry to escape the exact danger outlined in that disgusting video Louis showed at the beginning of this one? TOO BAD. Your car doesn't belong to you. You've only licensed a service.
Who out there remembers when loosing you're remote control for you're TV just meant you would have to walk to the TV to operate the TV? Now you may as well throw out the TV because manufacturing is 3 dollars less on you're 2000 dollar TV if you don't put buttons on the TV.
What a Luddite😮 still using a remote😂
I just commented about my 2006 no-frills car and refusing to buy the wifi thermostat with my new HVAC system. I'm glad I'll be dead soon, this is't the world I signed up for. lol
Mine thankfully has a multi-function button that allows you to control the TV but it is super annoying how the one button cycles through all the options and letting it hover over the option for more than 3 seconds selects whatever is highlighted. Although if I lose the remote, I can also use my phone to control my TV using the remote app.
@@edwinmartin9120 I'll show you a Luddite .... I don't use a remote because I haven't had a TV for over 12 years. lol 😅

Been a ford guy for 20 years. Last 4 years have proven to me no company is ok, ford isnt alone in this shit.
This type of thing right here is why you should never be a "insert company" guy. Companies to not deserve your loyalty. Period. They don't care about you, you shouldn't care about them. Buy the best product, with the features that you're looking for, for the price you're looking for, irrespective of brand. Don't even look at the brand name if you can manage it.

On a kind of related note, I just learned about the GR Corolla issues yesterday where these cars are catching on fire and Toyota is denying warranty. Apparently, buried in their ToS or manual, these cars void warranty if you hit or exceed 85mph at any point in its life, which Toyota has been using to deny claims while also revealing their cars are beaconing back to Toyota with information you are not aware about. The GR Corolla is advertised and sold as a track ready car…
_Reads from Toyota's own website on the GR Corolla_
"Top track speed(Electronically controlled)(mph): 142.9"
And you're telling me the warranty goes out the window if the driver utilize more than roughly 60% of the car's stated potential? Also, not surprised in the slightest that the car is transmitting data back to Toyota.

I once told a few people that I hate all forms of advertisement and avoid them as much as possible,
I was called dumb and crazy for that - from people who have no issues consuming ads.
So I don't see "just stop watching ads" as a viable solution even though it's a good solution, sadly.
There are just too many people who don't have an issue with these types of annoyances, until they become so bad and intrusive that it might be too late to do something about them.
Same here. I am always shocked by how many ads regular people see. I rarely see any.
There's a major flaw in this strategy Louis. It doesn't matter if we don't watch ads by any means necessary. Their target audience is the 10% of people who actually get influenced by ads because they want to watch ads and they will never stop wanting to watch ads. Even if the 90% of us stop watching ads, those ads will still bring in the same amount of increased sales to them so there's no reason to stop.
We took our truck into Ford one day after the fuel pump failed. They held onto the thing for about two weeks, charged us a little over $20k and when went to pick it the fuel tank was _empty._

This is why whenever I get a new car next year, it's not going to be new it's going to be pre-owned and it's not going to be a car that was made in the last like 6 years. I'm going to keep buying used cars for as long as I can. Then when I can't anymore I'm going to ask a ton of questions about cars and if I can't find any that doesn't have microphones or buttons or anything, then maybe I'll just build a car. Cuz ain't no way I'm driving around with my car listening to all of my conversations.
Not long ago we were told to stop using phones or any devices in our cars, because they're distracting and can cause dangerous situations on the road. Now we have a giant screen in the middle of the car that will play youtube videos, blast you with ads and do all kinds of other shit. Pure insanity.
Right?
Can it run uBlock Origin?
I never thought we'll reach a point where we have to change the DNS servers on a car...
Just rip out any mobile connection. Even if it cant send an SOS, a small price to pay.
at this point, advertisements of all kinds have lost my goodwill. i'm sick of banners & pop-ups on websites glitching around & taking up more than ¾ the page sometimes, billboards taking up sky, weathered posters peeling litter into the sidewalks & roads, even at gas stations some of them jumpscare me with sudden loud ads on the monitor. spotify is unusable unless you pay & the artists don't even benefit from it. can't even pause tv without ads & also, now having to pay to not have ads on streaming services when that was the original appeal of streaming in the first place is so ridiculous.
in a better world i strive towards, all ads should be coralled onto the businesses website & not taking up space in the real world OR interrupting articles, social media, & other online spaces anymore. i'm really just that sick of it. there is NO reason we HAVE to have em & they're going way too far.
i am a human being trying to interact with other human beings irl & online. i want to read, research, view art, memes, & learn about what's going on in the world. i am tired of my privacy being extracted & sold against my will, i'm tired of enduring these more & more irritating experiences everywhere i turn. we can't go outside with the hostility of city designs, lack of transportation, lack of free or cheap enriching places to go. we can't go online, there's no way to socialize that isn't bombarded with agonizing intrusions by the wealthy's parasitic invasions.
there should be a searchable directory website for you to filter & look for businesses that sell what you're looking for, eliminating duplicate products that are just resellers, especially pushing for local & small businesses first above all.
we need to fight for things to be beneficial for us again. we do not need to be frustrated like this all the time. we don't need technology "advancements" that just make things obviously worse, like phones losing their audio ports just to be sold a solution to that. we don't need ads invading all our spaces. we deserve better.

"Advertisement is the rattling of a stick in a swill bucket" -George Orwell
At the beginning of this video, you made me think I'd left my video playback speed set to 2X.
Personally I wouldn’t buy a new car even if you paid me.
Mr. Rossmann, even if it appears that you are going insane, in this dystopian world we live in today, rest assured, you are the one who keeps me sane. You are one of the very few TH-camrs, or just people in general, who tell it like it is. I am even sick of the many TH-camr's who shill off to me! There is a reason I subbed to your channel awhile back, because you are someone I trust in this universe. Keep doing what you are doing, we need more people like you, but as long as we have you, I think we can get through this.
The older I get, the more I realize that all our human activities in our human "civilization" eventually boils down to just one thing: everybody trying to sell some shit to others.
I would have never guessed that we would end up in a ads-crazy.
Watching Ads will be considered civic duty.
Your enthusiastic outburst of rage against criminal activity is enthralling. Mechanics like old cars for a reason. The frame lasts and doesn't rape you with ads
this is why i drive a car from the 90s
TPTB don't even want you to own your own car, so of course they're going to advertise to you inside your expensive private taxi.
The 9 people that disliked this video are from Ford.
I feeling continuously ASSAULTED by advertisements 😡 and I'm beyond sick, tired and angry.
Can't wait for my car reading the Miranda warning every time I enter, since it's constantly listening.
If you repeatedly state out-loud "I will not purchase anything I've been advertised" or "ads make me not want what I've been advertised" and so on, eventually you'll stop getting them on certain platforms
I still listen to ads. On my factory radio in my 2010 Chevy that doesn't even have electric windows. I support radio advertisers. That is the single source of ads in my life. Beyond that, there is no negotiation.
Really though, if you COULD skip the ads on the AM/FM radio, wouldn't you? I would. Especially the AM radio. Apparently whoever listens to news and traffic on AM needs hair transplants and Viagra and an extra-large MRI, based on the commercials I hear.
Wow you must have just sneaked in in the last year that they did not put power windows and locks as base items Ford GM and most all other manufacturers have power locks power windows as standard equipment getting them without is pretty much unheard of in the past 10 years
@wolfie1970 my 2015 Ford Fiesta has no cruise control or power windows. It does have the godawful Sync entertainment system though
Yeah, I don't even turn on my car's infotainment system in my car. I use my secondary phone as my infotainment system, and it has infinitely better voice recognition and free maps.
I've been telling friends and family for years that people have a moral obligation to block all ads
What happens if I just accidentally slip several times with a hammer on the microphone, will they replace it or will I have to pay to have half the car replaced cause the microphone is such an "integral" part of the car.
No no, you *WILL* replace the car.

Older, non-connected vehicles are looking so much better now. Holding onto my 2014 car for as long as I can.
Well, if the car is going to be collecting my data and advertising to me, then I expect the car to be free and no cost to run.
I always chuckled at that commercial...
1. The repair shop/mechanic has your name, address and phone from the info on your work order,
2. I'd be more afraid of them stealing my credit card info and using that...
What a time to be alive! Soon we'll have toilette seats with wifi and mics so they can target food ads to your phone based on how your farts sound
The moment that really woke me up to this madness is when I talked to a friend about something, while only she had her phone with her (I left mine at home!) and the moment I got back home I immediately had a youtube video about that topic suggested to ME. I really felt scared at this point, understanding that big corporate is listening to everyone everywhere all the time through every phone and laws that are supposed to protect against this aren't worth the paper they're written on.
Didnt you tell us u need a pause 😂 i hope this is prerecorded
Shocker seats! I'm stealing that idea and patenting it.
I LOVE my F-250! Maybe it's too big for what I need. Maybe it's kind of a POS. Maybe it's a rolling environmental disaster. But, it's paid for, and DOESN'T spy on me, and THAT'S why I refuse to sell it!
