As someone who watched the pilot movie on September 17, 1978 and has been a fan ever since, let me say you brought back feelings of excitement I felt that night. Well done.
how do u fell about the new version "serie 1-4" my thoughts go, best show ever, i was blown away, and the ending was beautiful, i have never have the opportunity to see BSG Caprica, should i buy the DVD?? need some help here buddy, have a nice day
@@mortenjrgensen9138 The recent version is good. Different pacing, less adventure and more claustrophobia. That whole Terminator/Matrix story line with humanity building the Cylons instead is the biggest problem I have with the show. That and the whole "Final Five" B.S. and "this has happened before". Caprica sucks. Don't bother. It adds NOTHING.
What do you mean by new version coming are you talking about the one where the cylons but like people? The one with the Katee Sackhoff in it. I know I probably butchered her name I'm using talk-to-text and I'm not sure how she spells it. I couldn't even watch that one. I was there show-by-show with the original series. My mom used to drag me to church on Sunday nights, and she would stay afterwards and yak with all the ladies! 😅 Used to make me so mad because I would get home and Battlestar Galactica will be about halfway through. But finally later in life I got that box set that looks like a cylon head and I got to watch all of them. That new version bummed me out. I've been thinking about trying to watch it lately but I don't know. What exactly are you talking about when you say new episodes or new version you talking about the ones from a few years ago or newer ones now
It’s difficult to express the feeling at 6 years old of watching Battlestar Galactica in the theatre as a film, and then getting glued to the TV for two years following the series. It was not Star Wars; it was its own fascinating and realistic take on the future (or past) and science fiction. This little video here is what the series should’ve looked like when rebooted, and I, like the thousands of kids of the 70s that grew watching quality TV shows and films, wish that one day it would.
This rendition is by far the best I have ever seen. Very meticulous to detail, sound, replication I have ever seen. Makes me want to go and rewatch the entire series. Keep it up.
This is a magnificent work of art. I can barely imagine the tremendous technical job behind this. You were able to capture and enhance the spirit of the original series. Absolutely astounding.
Every beat of this piece of work is glorious and so lovingly, respectively done... So much new stuff and also fan service in Peter's work... The Imagry, the music, all of it... Brilliant. I gotta a little wound up in certain moments, but I'll confess hearing Lt. Rigel's voice echo in the launch bay... "Core systems transferring control to probe craft. Launch when ready" pushed me over the edge.
This is still the most beautiful and majestic Galactica. It is at the same time, the best designed well above its redesigns in a certain series. There is nothing like seeing her enter the scene head-on to see her in her splendor. Thank you very much for this fan film, I hope to see many more.
*_Incredible!!_* I love how you recreated many of the Exact same shots of the orig series, and then additionally added the more modernized 'live warzone' aesthetic film technique that (I believe) was actually introduced to our world via the BSG2001 reboot series itself (if so, then Credit to them, I say.) Very Awesome Work!
This was beautifully done. Thanks for all the hard and talented work you put into it! I especially loved the incredible detail in the landing bays as ships were landing. Original Battlestar Galactica forever!!
Thank you Peter! This is just a taste of what a modern retelling of the original BSG could be like. Awesome does not begin to describe it! The Galactica has never looked more alive than what you have shown here. The sheer size and detail as raiders and vipers criss-cross her hull. It is nothing short of amazing!
I remember this . Buck Rogers and Wilma Daring. A love story. Big risks were taken by each when they part to do dangerous but nessercery missions. Upon reuniting against all odds they acted really corny or cheesy ,I think on purpose to show their love for one another. Love of this nature defying all outside persautions endures and is celebrated best in this way.
I honestly feel like I learned a few things watching this one. LOVING some of the homages to the classic library shots from slightly new angles, as well as all the newer things I didn't quite expect. It was good to see. The picket lasers around Galactica's perimeter were ones I'd never been able to really place the location of in the show. So it was nice to actually see where those were coming from. Seeing all these flybys of the fleet that weren't the shot we're all used to was fantastic. Weaving in and around asteroids, long shots. Overhead shots, oblique shots, flyarounds. Stuff that the ILM people and Dykstra likely wanted to do back in the day, but the tech wasn't there yet. Or the money. That and I could never really get away from the feeling that all the colony ships were on a framework that were attached to one another horizontally in a lot of those old library shots they did. There was the nostalgic sense of that here too, but it also felt as though you went out of your way to do more with it than they did. The inclusion of the panning and new style sudden zooms is much appreciated, as well as the light sourcing moving around while they're spinning and rolling by nearby starlight. The music did bog down the action at times. I understand the thinking behind the choices made, so I'm not gonna throw rocks or anything. All in all, good work. If I ever had it in mind to steal footage for a fanfilm, I know what I'd want to source a lot of my own stock footage from. ^_^
Absolutely stunned, and filled with memories ,the standard of this is excellent! Respectful of the Glen A Larson series, and loved the new angles of both the Colonial Vipers and Cylon Raiders. Would have loved to have heard Lorne Greene's voice as Adama,"Positive Shield, now! Launch Fighters! All Batteries commence fire!" A work of Genius, well done! 👏👏👏
Absolutely amazing work to all of you! And as mentioned in the other comment a fantastic tribute to those of the original show! I was revisiting my childhood watching this! Thank you all !
Nice work, Galactica is just another example of how Hollywood can't see the woods for the trees, classic Galactica could make a great comeback with the right creative team behind it, using all the original design work etc it needs to be done.
Amazing work merging classic effects like fire balls and laser shots and cgi giving details like the fly by casting shadows and able to watch from cockpit see other ships shooting from below as flying by that gave it a soul.
Beautiful movie! I loved the classic as a child and this video catches he feeling of a bunch of ships traveling the infinite space, they only have each other. And being hunted too. Each kill of this caravan is a great loss, that's why the pilot is sad at the end. Very emotive.
Thank you so so much, you've made an old warriors day! Such brilliance and dedication and what a masterpiece, after all thos years of the original and wishing for better SFX now you have truly made all out wishes come true. The lords of Kobol Bless you.
Excellent job! Hey Universal this is what the fans want is the 1978 version of BSG! Been waiting 40 years and you still haven’t figured out how to recreate a fantastic story line with great characters
Incidentally, I don’t know if it’s relevant or not to your project, but we get a really good look at the inside of a hangar bay, and what it looks like through the big hangar bay landing door in “Baltar’s Escape.” (When they bring the Eastern Alliance destroyer in). I think it’s the only time we ever really get to see any of the ceiling details. Your work is amazing.
OMG... this is a little bit a dream come true, a new classic BSG "movie" (I didn't know version 1 and just discovered this one here)... I really love it, so cool to see more from the landing/ launch bay, new angles for the battlescenes etc.. Fraking awesome, thank you so much for sharing, I will watch it many more times... 🤩😍👏👍
Toll, weiter so 🙂
Wow and thank you. This brings back a lot of memories of, for the most part, an excellent space adventure. The Galactica is perfect to the last detail. Maybe even more so than the original effects. Especially in the landing bay.
This is an amazing tribute to the original show. And proof that the original show still has a story to tell. I love those reverse thrusters on the vipers.
Chiming in again, because I keep watching this... Not only is it beautiful visually... It's great storytelling... Just little things made the story for me... At 7m 26s.. The Cylon shoots his lasers with intention... This piece of work is not just about ships... It's a great story. So well done, and it reflects all the months that Peter spent laboring over it... I had the privilege of commicating with him along the way... And, throughout... I trusted him. He delivered. To quote Senator Palpatine, "I look forward to his career with great interest."
Liked how the combat was in all directions in space. Above, below, front, back and each side of the Galactica. Very, very few space movies or TV shows do this.
This is TRULY MAGNIFICENT!! All of that hard work & lost sleep was & is worth it!! I have watched it several times & it gives me goosebumps every time!! Please make more!!
Many people carry this film in their subconscious. I also forgot about him years ago. But the music brings back the memory. I saw the film in Vienna in 1978. This shows us how perfectly our brain works. I can suddenly see old memories. It's scary.
This was stunning. So many incredible shots. My favourite is when the Raiders came out of the shadow of the Basestar. They were like the eyes of creatures in the dark. What's more this had the authenticity of the original BSG.
The original series story as far as I’m concerned is one of the best in which humanity fighting to stay alive. Star Wars is about who’s in power while galactica is about survival.
That's really great. Galactica looks amazing, one could really appreciate the level of detail. Also love how you mirrored the camera movements from the series. It really felt genuine, like it belongs. 👍
Wow! Just WOW! From my own feeble attempts at this kind of thing, I know a little bit of the insane amount of work that went into this (ah, the sound of the cooling fans on a GPU spooling up...) and your work is flat out amazing. WOW!!
This is hands-down the most awesome thing I've seen all year! It looks better than the original in many places and I really like how you embedded some reboot Galactica maneuvering and camera pans too.
Wow, the Galactica and the fleet going by those planet sized asteroids was breathtaking, Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. Also liked the background music. Just subscribed.
Man my congratulations for this work... I loved this série even though it may happen in 2020 or so.... After all the engines still being present for fuel type mechanic 😅. Also appreciate the white noise when cilone cruising space 👍
The inclusion of the asteroids and the nebula in this mini-movie is intriguing. It also hints at another mini-story opportunity: Galactica was always on-strength throughout the 1978 series. Despite repeated battles with Cylons, often of superior firepower, she always had enough fighters even after sustaining repeated losses. Therein lies a new story opportunity: obviously, Galactica found a way to replenish it fighter-losses. It makes sense that, especially in light of Cain and the Battlestar Pegasus finding a way to escape, hide, conduct guerilla attacks, and "live off the land", that all Colonial battlestars must contain built-in I.S.R.U. (In-Situ Resource Utilization; a space exploration term for visiting moons or planetary bodies and using the resources there to either make new fuel or gather other raw materials to build things useful to the mission) Those cavernous nooks seen on the underside of battlestars give away a major opportunity for in-flight I.S.R.U.: Viper scouting missions would reconnoiter asteroids in a battlestar's path, identify useful raw materials, and report to the mothership. The battlestar then swoops in and gathers up a few small useful asteroids and tucks them in those underside nooks. The battlestar then uses mechanical arms, braces and tethers or nets to cradle the asteroids while an I.S.R.U. team sets to work harvesting the resources needed. Once sufficient materials are gathered, the Viper maintenance crews use the new material to fabricate (3D print?) components for new Vipers or other needed parts for weapons or spacecraft repairs. So then a battlestar out in deep space and replenish itself. Remember what Adama said in "The Hand of God": "Let's take them on. I'm tired of running!" Galactica was outgunned, two-to-one, and yet they were able to sabotage, sneak-attack and destroy a Cylon basestar. It's also possible that Adama intended to do more than destroy their enemy. Why couldn't Galactica loiter around after the successful attack, wait for the Cylon fighters to run out of fuel, and then take low-power pot-shots at them for target practice, followed by harvesting all the debris from the disabled fighters and remains of the basestar? Even better (and probably inspired by such a raid) would be if Galactica harvested more asteroids, mixed in with the debris, and built lesser Colonial warships to support Galactica? Maybe they could build a ship one engine at a time, get it flying, and then add other components with each new asteroid harvest. Eventually, Galactica's fleet would be enhanced with small warships offering additional defensive, offensive and reconnaissance capability. If Galactica could support eight Viper squadrons plus a few recon Vipers, and four small warships could each support one or two Viper squadrons, the fleet would ten have 14 to 16 squadrons. If Adama was "tired of running", that would be a long-term strategy he might pursue. And if Cain thought that was the only way to escape and thwart the Cylons at Gamoray, a little I.S.R.U. would come in very handy. Maybe the Pegasus hid in a nebula after the Battle of Molecay to harvest asteroids, affect repairs, and build up her Viper squarons to attack the Cylons. Thanks again for the beautiful CGI work.
I'm 52, but watching this, I'm 8 years old again...thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Excellent would be nice to see some overlay of the original dialogue with the new special effects❤❤
Same. I’m 50 and still love hearing Cylon voices.
As someone who watched the pilot movie on September 17, 1978 and has been a fan ever since, let me say you brought back feelings of excitement I felt that night. Well done.

"original"? Oh! you mean rather than BSG 1980. Yeah the original was better.
the music of the great stu philips. he's the john williams of tv theme music.
I love the detail of the shuttle. The shuttle episodes were always my favorite. You knew you were in for an adventure when you saw the shuttle.
Wow, this is what I'm talking about. I was eight years old when this came out. Amazing work. The internet isn't all evil. Just breath taking work.
Watching this gave me the same feeling that 14 year old kid had 45 years ago. Thank you.
And thanks for the great tribute to Battlestar Galactica. It's legacy will live on in all of us those who watch the show.
This was the Galactica of my childhood. Thank you.

Wow! The ships,...the angles,...the haunting music,...The 10 year old me watches and doesn't want it to end.
The highlight for me was that landram pulling out onto the landing pad to extinguish that Viper with the burning engine. STELLAR WORK!

This is what we wanted out of a remake. Not the monstrosity we got.
Great work, Your tribute would make everyone who worked on the original BSG proud. 6 STARS

Beautifully executed!
ShipPorn has never been so good.
Well done! The effects are truly awesome!I hope to see more of your work.
Im 53....this is the one true Battlestar Galactica... only thing missing from this video is Apollo and Starbuck playing Triad
Stunning! It's quite clear how much love and effort you put into this.
Well done!

Well done! Great detail and precision to the OG ships…love the chafing on the viper engines OG BSG is my fav…my era
Beautiful work...heck the first shot of Galactica looked like the physical model... She still holds up. Damn fine job done.
I can def tell the Colonial Vipers are Revell models. I owned one!
The original series story as far as I’m concerned is one of the best in which humanity fighting to stay alive. Star Wars is about who’s in power while galactica is about survival.
This is also a thousand times better than the Disney SW Sequel Trilogy.
Ok , that was simply beautiful ....ty that made my night.
¡Magnífico, simplemente genial! De inmediato lo compartiré, esto merece más vistas.
The music.... the sound effects and my baby in CGI
This is WAAAAY Tooo Coool !!!! I saw the original as a kid, and you "nailed it". Nice work!
That's really great. Galactica looks amazing, one could really appreciate the level of detail. Also love how you mirrored the camera movements from the series. It really felt genuine, like it belongs. 👍
OUTSTANDING !!!! AN AWESOME JOB THANK YOU
Thanks for making this. This was my BSG, it was like coming home again

Very impressive detailing. I would like to believe that the original creators the franchise would very much appreciate and approve.
Fantastic visuals and graphics! Please continue!
Loved Galactics' crash and smash! For those that don't understand, it's the Navy nickname for flight deck fire fighting team.
Good to see someone is keeping BSG alive and well. Kudos. This was frakking awesome.
Great job.I like this film.
"am not even sure I know what's good anymore, lol." - THIS IS GOOD.

(In-Situ Resource Utilization; a space exploration term for visiting moons or planetary bodies and using the resources there to either make new fuel or gather other raw materials to build things useful to the mission)
Those cavernous nooks seen on the underside of battlestars give away a major opportunity for in-flight I.S.R.U.: Viper scouting missions would reconnoiter asteroids in a battlestar's path, identify useful raw materials, and report to the mothership.
FANTASTIC! This was a wonderful trip down memory lane. :-)
Love it!
