The truth is, Martinez was never convincing whenever he got a chance to play for arsenal until that final season ending in the FA cup. Most games he was really poor. Some players just mature and bloom later. Look at Vardy. Glad he’s done well, seems a good guy, he’s moved on and so has Arsenal.

Most of those starts were after Leno got injured in 2020. But he was otherwise 3rd fiddle behind Fabianski, Sczeszny, Cech, Ospina, Leno at various points in those years. He was an overlooked talent.
Every time he played for Arsenal he was nothing special though until that Leno injury. He played in Europa League and Carabao Cup the same season. In Carabao Cup vs Liverpool it was 5-5, he was far from amazing. He went through 2 penalty shootouts with Arsenal and couldn't save a penalty to save his life. I don't know if he had confidence issues but I could never understand where his later form came from.
