    Thank you for the honesty about decluttering! I'm on my 5th closet declutter.
    1) 2013 moved homes. I pulled all clothes from storage bins going back to 1990.
    2) 2018/2019 discovered Marie Kondo. I became inspired. Started decluttering.
    3) I was not happy with my first Spark Joy attempt and did a second declutter right after.
    4) 2020, I got fed up with artificial cheap fabrics. I purged everything down to natural fabrics. I had 13 clothing items left in my wardrobe.
    5) Currently I'm teaching myself about Capsule Wardrobes, Mindfulness, and Curating. I'm in the middle of my 5th wardrobe decluttering event.
    I'm not done and feeling burnt out.
    Your video was inspiring and comforting to know that it takes multiple attempts to achieve decluttering goals especially for wardrobes. And that's okay. Thank you. 💖

      Well done for starting your decluttering journey, it sounds like you made great progress so far. But I'm sorry you feel burnt out, maybe you can take a break a little bit so you can feel better 😊 I also had moments in the beginning of my journey where it was a lot to deal with, but I found that if I only ever decluttered items I 100% didn't want anymore, decluttering became much easier and joyful, and all the "maybes" I simply left in my closet until I was 100% sure what to do about them. Yes, it may take a bit longer this way, but the journey is much more relaxing 😉 So good luck on your journey and I'm super happy this video provided some comfort and inspiration 😘❤️

      I love reading that people are making good choices about fabrics. Polyester and other synthetic materials are horrible.

    Your tip about formally analyzing your clothes when you try them on by writing it all down is very smart and useful! I’ve always mentally done this, but it never occurred to me that I should write it down. I’d be willing to bet the writing it down method is significantly more effective. Thank you! :)

    Every time I declutter I try everything on and ask myself if I would buy this item if I saw it in a shop. I often keep stuff for sentimental reasons, because I "used to like it," but when you don't think of it as "getting rid" of you posessions, but do it with a "choosing" your favourites mindset, it's much easier.

    This video is honestly very inspiring to me, Kim! Even though I'm in a good place now with my wardrobe and my style, I can't say that getting there was easy by any means. My shopping habits were very wasteful to say the least when I was younger, and when it came to my style, I only had one rule: if it's cute, then I have to have it! I also used to heavily rely on fast fashion or trendy pieces in order to feel cute or stylish. To be fair, there's still a couple fast fashion brands within my wardrobe now, but whenever I shop now, I try to go for secondhand options first. I'm also a huge sucker for quality over quantity, so whenever I get paid, I'll budget part of that money specifically for my wardrobe- and also for handbags sometimes. Needless to say that I've learned a lot about myself throughout my style evolution, but I'm happy with where I'm at now! 😊

    Such a beautiful journey, and great advices! I have been decluttering my wardrobe for 2 years and it was until one month ago that I finally got to realize my preferences and style! I purchased before anything I found cute and after few months I ended up giving away a lot of those clothes because I never felt really well with them, I think after two years I decluttered at least 60% of my original closet but know I'm really happy with all the clothes I have, I got to finally purchase everything I do really like and feel well and finally analyze why I loved those clothes! ❤❤❤

    Appreciate the ruthless honesty. Also, it's so logical to have a space to put your lounge and athletic wear that you've worn but can wear again before washing. These items always end up on the chair in my room - but why not have a dedicated place for them? Duh. Also, so smart to have the belts displayed like that right next to the bottoms. I've done and watched a lot of closet declutters over the years and I've never seen those two tips, so thank you!

    Excellent video! Very comprehensive and inspiring! Clothing is difficult though, because after I say to myself, "This suits me, this is what I like," then I see that the fashions have changed, and I question a lot all over again because I do see that some of the new fashions feel fun and fresh compared with what I have.

    • @KimBedene
      @KimBedene  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you! 😊 And I know what you mean, because yes, there can be some new things we might want to try, I also try new things once in a while. But I did find that after discovering what I truly don't like on me (colour green, yellow, animal prints, heels over 10 cm, v-necks, u-necks, etc.), I never returned to those items, even with the trends and all, so maybe that's something you can try - to identify clothing details you don't like, and then you're future shopping selection will automatically stay smaller 💁‍♀️😘

    Your style is so cool! I love that shade of red on you. I'm hoping to get into my personal style more but I'm waiting to get any new clothes until my weight stops fluctuating. Right now it's joggers all day everyday

    • @KimBedene
      @KimBedene  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, looking back it's kinda crazy but in our home, it was actually the opposite - whenever I wanted to declutter something my mum said I should keep it just in case, or she didn't want me to let it go because it was a good brand. Luckily we've all evolved, hehe, and we can see it was fear holding us back 😊
      Thank you for your kind words, also I exactly know what you mean - I also gained a few kilos during the lockdown, which I now mostly got off, but I was also in a phase of just wearing joggers or loose dresses and skirts for a while, hehe. It's part of life, but I'm happy that I waited until my weight settled again 😉

    You may have had different sizes in your closet, unfortunately, all depends where you shop. I have varios sizes myself.
    Finding your personal style is essential.
    It’s time consuming, but worth it, I suggest photographing each outfit.
    You are right the desire to shop usually goes down.
    I live in Florida, layering is key for this whether. Notice that you could wear a tank top and a duster over it, and easily remove it has the day gets hotter.

    I like that you advise people to wear clothes a few times before washing. Americans wash too much… that’s what creates the superbugs, too much unnecessary disinfecting. If a person is keeping good personal hygiene, their clothes shouldn’t become dirty after one wear. Just exfoliate regularly since the brown rim on the collar of white shirts, for example, is due to the shedding of dead skin, which happens to everyone. But you can reduce the staining by exfoliating your body on a good regular weekly schedule. TMI, but those are my thoughts!

      @KimBedene  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, even though my walk-in closet was tidy, I didn't really wear or enjoy most of it. When it comes to minimalism, the sense is that everything that isn't used or is bringing us down in one way or another is clutter and should therefore be decluttered 😊 Hope this helps!
