I honestly prefer the parry method to the Flurry Rush method for fighting BOTW/TOTK Lynels. If you get the timing down, you can parry and quickly pull out your bow to do a faceshot for a quick stun, then mount them and get in a bunch of free hits with your weapon that cost no durability. Incidentally, BOTW is a little easier to stun this way, as the stunbox is mostly just the head - in TOTK, the addition of the horns means that you have to specifically aim for the face. Also, I appreciate that the addition of the horns in TOTK means that Lynels actually have a new attack using them. It can still be parried, but it was a surprise the first time I saw it!
Just realized why Lynels are harder in TOTK than BOTW. No Stasis cheese to freeze them and keep them from attacking while you get that perfect headshot.

Remember the cutscene in BOTW when Zelda was patching up a small wound on Link's arm after he dispatched an army of enemies, which included multiple Lynels? Link is a beast. Too bad his skill level goes way down when I'm in control of him. Oh well.
@@minecrafter3448 its difficult to animate skilled swordsmanship with a small medium. Ocarina of Time Link is possibly the most powerful Link period (in hyrule historia's revelation at least,) but he had a basic sword slash, some minor gameplay abilities, and his shield
The Gold Lynel with a Mighty Lynel crusher behind death mountain can drop its weapon with 116 damage in BOTW. Be careful though, it can two hit the player with Max armor stats. It also more than likely drops a star fragment. So it’s more than worth the rewards.
5:54 as a fanatic (not gonna say expert, I doubt I am) of the Necrodancer games, let me tell you how to avoid all that damage. the Lynel moves every second beat. if you're in the way when it's about to move... it's gonna hurt. if you know the Lynel is about to move, steer clear of it's adjacent tiles (he can't move diagonally, so just moving to the side is enough.) if you are somewhere on a straight line from it, it will ready an arrow. move out of that line immediately. if you can't but are playing as Link or anyone that can use the shield, hold it out and move towards the Lynel so the shield points towards him, the arrow shouldn't hit you. as Zelda or Shadow Zelda using Nayru's Love here will reflect the arrow, so, yeah, do that. depending on your weapon, the easiest strategy varies. Dagger/Shortsword/Spear/Rapier: if youre adjacent to it while it's not doing anything, attack once, step sideways, step back where you were, and then back to where you dodged towards, and repeat. this movement is known as the Dragon Dance from Necrodancer. Broadsword: attack every beat until you're adjacent to it, attack once, sidestep, and attack until you're adjacent again, repeat the process. Longsword: hold it out with R and poke at him from two tiles away, projectiles cant go through the sword, nor do they affect you lol just keep him out of range, turn as necessary.

Could you possibly make an "Evolution of Zelda items" video? I know that's a big ask but like showing the evolutions of the items that show up in multiple games. Like all the variations of the mirror shield, Link's swords (like non master sword ones). The megaton hammer, the Hookshot/claws/grappling rope. There's probably more I'm not recalling but you get the idea.
I really think BOTW and TOTK are set in Fallen Hero timeline only. The other events in the other timelines can still happen but its definitely in the Fallen Hero timeline. I mean what games that Lynels and Gleeoks? The ones in the Fallen Hero timeline.
I mean, in the Original Zelda, Lynels still WERE pretty much the hardest non-boss enemy the game had to offer, besides maybe Darknuts. (Which makes me feel like TotK's failure to include them is a missed opportunity) Hell, they were probably still the single enemy that dealt the highest amount of damage per hit. The player in the video made it look easy, but coming across a room with more than 3 of them was something to be scared of. Back then, Link's limited movement, and attack range made it pretty hard to successfully attack enemies while avoiding taking damage. It was easy to swing and miss, and it was east to bump into enemies by mistake.

Remember the cutscene in BOTW when Zelda was patching up a small wound on Link's arm after he dispatched an army of enemies, which included multiple Lynels? Link is a beast. Too bad his skill level goes way down when I'm in control of him. Oh well.
I wonder who is in the right mind to create a normal minion harder to kill than the boss in the game?
I’ve been playing the original since the 80s and have now just today learned that those are not centaurs; they’re Lynels
i like to think they didnt evolve much in the timeline, and chronologically earlier links are just weirdly skilled
Ah yes, basic sword slash, the most skilled attack
@@minecrafter3448 its difficult to animate skilled swordsmanship with a small medium. Ocarina of Time Link is possibly the most powerful Link period (in hyrule historia's revelation at least,) but he had a basic sword slash, some minor gameplay abilities, and his shield
Biggest glow up in the franchise
The Gold Lynel with a Mighty Lynel crusher behind death mountain can drop its weapon with 116 damage in BOTW. Be careful though, it can two hit the player with Max armor stats. It also more than likely drops a star fragment. So it’s more than worth the rewards.
See kids, THIS is how you have a glow up
I always thought the oracle lynels were just 4 legged cat people LOL
Longsword: hold it out with R and poke at him from two tiles away, projectiles cant go through the sword, nor do they affect you lol
just keep him out of range, turn as necessary.
Imagine a field full of lynels in botw/totk...
that was once fully realized with a mod that turned every enemy into gold lynels
you can tell that it took a LOT of death
There's legit one in TotK which have gloom in order to get a certain mask
That is my dream as someone who's late in the game. I wish I could find one easily before, now I just go down to floating colliseum (sorry if I misspelled it) and Hyrule castle depths for the silver lynel supermarket.
Missed opportunity to include the armored Lynel from The Depths
I think Lionel‘s evolved over time mostly because of the fact that they were little and population, and they required more strength if they wanted to continue going on meaning becoming the most menacing thing in breath of the wild
Oh man, the first time I faced a lynel in BOTW I was completely shell shocked. Now I am farming them to get better bows haha. Cheers!
It's scary to know after 10,000 years (correct Me if im wrong) an enemy that was in packs and was weak evolved into a one shot beast if you don't play your cards Right
It's even more than 10,000 years
Idk if Ive ever watched someone dominate a Golden Lynel in BOTW like this before lol truly impressive
Wait… what i didn’t know that lynels… amazing
It sounds like they're belching in A Link Between Worlds.
I didn't know they were in some of the older games in the series.
Funnily enough, they're only found in that one spot in ALttP and nowhere else.
So they went from normal mobs to mini bosses! What an upgrade.
Biggest glow up in history
I didn’t even know Lynels existed before BotW. I played most of Link to the Past & I never saw one. But, maybe I did & didn't recognize it.
Imagine what Chat the Original Link was, fighting multiple lynels on one screen
Could you possibly make an "Evolution of Zelda items" video? I know that's a big ask but like showing the evolutions of the items that show up in multiple games. Like all the variations of the mirror shield, Link's swords (like non master sword ones). The megaton hammer, the Hookshot/claws/grappling rope. There's probably more I'm not recalling but you get the idea.
you literally guessed the video i'm working on right now haha
@@bossrunner That's awesome!! Can't wait!
Lynels went from one of the easy Zelda enemies to one of the most fierce and powerful enemies in the franchise.
I wonder if the Lynels ever feel so violated when they get mounted by Sneaky Links
I really think BOTW and TOTK are set in Fallen Hero timeline only. The other events in the other timelines can still happen but its definitely in the Fallen Hero timeline. I mean what games that Lynels and Gleeoks? The ones in the Fallen Hero timeline.
That’s a massive stretch of logic
@@Creature_of_the_Land what I'm saying is the main timeline for these two games is possibly Fallen Hero timeline.
@Man Of the land not only that but Hero of the wild set is awfully close to the original Hero (LOZ NES)
@@Creature_of_the_Land honestly I'm thinking this could be the same Link from LOZ II.
@@Creature_of_the_Land that chamber Zelda was sleeping in has to be the Resurrection Chamber.
Dang TLOZ Link handled 5 Lynels in one screen like it weren’t nuthin.
Reminds me of the demons on Doom, regular monster minions turned into a miniboss. Final boss of botw was a joke compared to a lynel tho
Remember when lynels were jokes ya I miss that
I mean, in the Original Zelda, Lynels still WERE pretty much the hardest non-boss enemy the game had to offer, besides maybe Darknuts. (Which makes me feel like TotK's failure to include them is a missed opportunity)
Hell, they were probably still the single enemy that dealt the highest amount of damage per hit.
They were never a joke lmao what are you on
@@KaizerHuter BRO TOTK brought back the Gleeok, Gohma (marbled I guess), and Like Like, if there's one thing ToTK got wrong, its not having the Darknuts. Maybe a Lynel + Darknut tag team room would be kinda epic
@@KaizerHuter Also yeah, you can like, really snuggle up to the enemies in BOTW/TOTK and the only thing you have to fear is if it starts throwing hands. if there isn't a weapon actively being swung, its basically just moving terrain
NES link is the strongest Link im the series
Taking on several Lynels and killing them in a few hits
Likely the lynels just got stronger. There’s a whole quest about the most terrifying enemy in the game in botw, so unless everyone else got weaker alongside link, the lynels just got stronger
What is that green heart rectangle thing by the ultra hand symbol ????
神トラのあの敵はライネルだったのか、昔からいたんだなぁ
Zelda 1 link: fights 4 lynels easily
Hero of the wilds: 👁️ 👄 👁️
This might be a bit random but the red mane lynel in botw/totk remind me of Akuma in SFV and now bro looks like a white mane lynel😂
Lynels in 2d zelda: oh no pwease dont hurt me
Lynels in botw: mother fucker i wish you would.
Lynels in totk: oh no pwease dont hurt me.
I am very disappointed that you didn't show off the armored Lynels.
lynels are technically the weaskest in totk because of the radiant armour and Molduga jaw set up
Armored silver lynel would have been a better final showcase, however you're way better at taking them down than I am.
Lynels went from respectable challenges to peoples nightmares.
Ive never beaten one, but Ive murked Ganondorf/Ganon in botw about a dozen times.
BotW and TotK got the enemy balance majorly jacked up if you ask me...
If you beated ganon multiple time, you definitely have the ability to kill an lynel
Lynels aren't THAT difficult...
@Travis Mattson
For you maybe. I don't parry or flurry rush well at all.
True, somehow Ganon is much easier….
(P.S. You should really practice those skills, just do it with the first Lynel, once you did it, is not that tough)
“Get up on the lynel’s back!”
So, Lynels didn’t make their full 3d debut until Breath of the Wild??? That’s crazy!
Fun fact, aside from BOTW and TOTK, Lynels only appear in games set in the Downfall Timeline
Would that make them downfall? Or is it all shite now
@@swavebeatz
BOTW and TOTK all have aspects from all 3 timelines. For example, it is the first time that the Rito and the Zora coexist in a single world. The Rito are explicitly stated to be an evolution of the Zora in the past.
The theory that makes the most sense to me is that there was a timeline convergence which acts as a soft reboot of the franchise. And no, I don’t think it was Hyrule Warriors.
Lynels, in my opinion, are the only enemy to get more difficult with each new game
Short version, BOTW, AOC, TOTK have given us a truly terrifying Link. All the foes had to up their games or get 1-shotted.
I find it interesting that in botw, they do short range attacks instead of long range, like they've been doing in every 2d game
They're total nightmares in Link Between Worlds.
They are the best thing in the game. I want a keyring of the savage lynel bow sooooo bad!!
Lynels are the most toughest and most dangerous of Ganon’s Minions.
I’m so glad Zelda Breath of the Wild is one the best game and good graphics came around in all Zelda games now I am even more happier Tears of kingdom is also Super good game I hope we see more Zelda games like this in the future
hero of hyrule link has to be the most powerful. hero of wilds is insanely fast and powerful but still takes a while to take down lynels. HoH link can one shot them with the mystical sword
In the old canon they were all identical heroes, but I guess now with TOTK each one is unique to the rest, completely different people.
@@minecrafter3448 um the links have been different people WAY before totk, ocarina of time was when they started to split the timeline and differentiate the links. there's a lore book that released in 2011 that tells you how they're different people
@@acecanti4175 then that book is contradictory to the rest of the series. They were all supposedly identical with only graphical changes differentiating them, until TOTK threw that away
@@minecrafter3448 They were never supposed to be the same person. I mean, even without the timeline it wouldn't make sense that they were all the same
@@Foxy_LamaLama so you think that his spirit being reincarnated again and again and every single link having an eerily similar appearance is not enough to assume they are the same person?
once you figure out the strategy in beating lynels, i find them extremely easy to beat in totk and botw.
I didn’t know these guys existed until i saw this video
1986 Lynels-Pixelated Centaurs with Horns
Link to the Past/Link Between Worlds Lynels-Fire Breathing Lion Centaurs
Oracle of Age/Season Lynels-Dual Wielding Lion Demons
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Lynels-Lion Centaurs that Link (the players) decide to hunt like animals.
Clearly somebody doesn't know about the mounting method (BotW and TotK).
Shoot them in the face once, mount them with your highest damage weapon, and enjoy your free hits that DON'T CONSUME WEAPON DURABILITY. Parry every attack and shoot them during the brief stun that does, then mount up. When they do the fire breath or AOE, same as before shoot and mount. Really turns them from a terrifying enemy to a great source of expensive materials and strong weapons!
Question for clarity: Why weren't they in Wind Waker? Though it would be terrifying to see one there too haha.
They weren’t in a 3D game at all until BotW. BotW used them because it was heavily based on Zelda 1’s design philosophy, and they wanted to update a classic enemy
I didn't realize the enemies in the OG Zelda were lynels lol
