    Summarized:
    - Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly from fish oil, can turn off genes associated with weight gain, helping unlock weight loss and reduce stubborn belly fat.
    - Genetics play a significant role in determining how your body stores or burns fat, with over 77 genes influencing weight gain.
    - Omega-3 fatty acids affect the three key stages of fat cell development: preventing pre-adipocytes from becoming full-fat cells, encouraging the development of metabolically active brown cells, and reducing the permeability of white cells to prevent excessive fat storage.
    - Consuming two to three grams of omega-3 fatty acids per day, either from fatty fish or supplements, is recommended for maximum benefit.
    - Reducing dietary omega-6 intake, found in processed foods, grain-fed meat, and certain oils like soybean and corn oil, is essential to balance omega-3 and omega-6 ratios.
    - A combination of increasing omega-3 intake and decreasing omega-6 intake yields the most significant benefits for weight loss and metabolic activity.
    - Opt for grass-fed meat and dairy products with lower omega-6 content if you include them in your diet.

The important thing about going carnivore is making sure that you are fat intake is greater than your protein intake. In fact, some carnivore “experts“ say the ratio should be 70% fat, 25% protein and 5% carbs. I put experts in quotes Because I’m not really sure there are any experts. I would do the same thing if I were talking about keto “experts,” etc.

Just saying to eat fish is an incomplete solution. There is a huge difference between wild caught fish vs farmed fish. The wild caught has a lot of omega 3 but the farm raised fish are fed corn to fatten them up and they have a lot of omega 6. With beef you want to look for grass fed beef too for omega 3.

Interesting. Clarence Bass, who's written 17 books on leanness and achieving ultimate muscularity, has talked at length about this in the last four or five years or so. The idea of certain genes or gene expressions being changed to create a better environment in the body for fat utilization. Also, the part about Omega - 6 to Omega -3 ratios within our fat cells, " MAY " be one of the biggest contributors to the obesity epidemic. Before the time of the standard American diet, it is believed that the ratio of Omega -6 to Omega-3's within the average person's fat cells were somewhere between 3 to 1, or even something lower like 1 to 1. They've found that the average person consuming the average modern American diet, may have a ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3's within their fat cells that is something closer to 30 to 1 or even 50 to 1. The body then becomes a very inefficient fat burner. Something about the stickiness of the cell membranes is needed for the body to burn it's own fat efficiently.

Well, interesting. But I found that omega3 can do few of roles of retinol including producing Acetyl-CoA. And retinol is closed into white fat cells in form R-OH (75%) and R-COOH (25%) and more the fat cells the less retinol (rbp4) can cross fat tissue. Except omega3 because omega3 can cross fat tissues.
So less accessible retinol causes lower metabolism. e.g. Without retinol thyroid gland won't react to TSH normally and I mentioned Acetyl-CoA production also requires retinol.
I think the real switch is vitamin D because it improves everything including thyroid gland TSH sensitivity (and sleeping, and microbiom, ...).
There are two kind of fat loss: first is by cortisol hormone and the second is by tyhroid hormone.
If you lose fat weight by cortisol you will first lose abdominal fat. But cortisol will block thyroid so you will gain back fat faster...
if you lose fat weight by thyroid hormone you will lose fat from your head first than neck, chest and so on abdominal fat will be the last one. But this will give you energy. I experienced this once in my life.
But your video make me think vitamin D could be more effective with omega3.

    • @rredding
      @rredding ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! About D3:
Vitamin D3 influences your gene expression. It flips more genes to proper settings as vitamin D3 levels in the body increase (search: gene heatmap vD3).
      Once you reach 70-80 ng/ml D3 level it's optimal.

I dropped 7lbs within the first 2 weeks most of that was inflammation however I look leaner overall. My eating window is 1-5pm then it’s water only after 5pm and water only when I wake up until 1pm. I eat what I want and workout/walk early before work to really burn through stored glycogen and fat. During menopause our insulin can get really out of balance so fast it’s magic!! It makes sense we dont get the required sunlight now we live outside Africa and wear clothes plus stay indoors more compared to where we evolved. And I take Omega 3 supplement as well as eat lots of Fish and the reason? Omega 3 tells the body you are living by stocks of Fish which is not seasonal compared to hunting meat. Hunting meat is seasonal so you may need to Hibernate hence have the fat store mechanism.......Fishing does not need the hibernation / fat store.

All of this is over-complicating the process.
Move more, eat less. That’s how you lose weight. All of this is dancing around the core issue.

Taking omega 3 supplements recently to combat genetic predisposition to high triglycerides. I did find I had been slimming down a bit faster than I was expecting from previous diet and exercise results. Interesting to see that this is documented as a nice side effect from my intended use of omega 3s.

As a side benefit… get he omega-3 / omega-6 ratio to greater than 3 to 1 (75% omega-3) and heart disease risk goes to zero. Note 3/6 is the inverse of how it is usually reported. Usual advice is to get the levels of omega 6 to total of 3 and 6 down to 65-70%. The no heart disease level takes this much further by getting the 6 / 3+6 level down to 25% or less.
To do that requires eliminating seed oils (I.e. “vegetable oil” high in omega-6) from the diet and eating lots of omega-3 rich foods.

    As for losing FAT....
I found that not being sedentary helps as well as resistance training. That doesn't mean going to the gym.
Ideally you need to build muscle to ramp up your metabolism.
Too many of us are fat because we have low Muscle mass... that said You don't need to resemble a Dorito or an upside down triangle to have muscle.
Bruce Lee was strong and lean, and wasn't over muscular. But did have impressive lats for his frame.
    Cheers

Since my mid 40s I’ve accumulated belly fat and then occasionally got really lean for extended periods with no obvious change to diet. This lead to losing the dad-body and becoming healthier but I could never figure out why. All this while working in a physically demanding industry. It’s almost like an internal switch had been enabled but I could never figure out exactly what was doing it. Going to give the Omega3 a shot now. 64 and belly fat is annoying and I don’t drink alcohol nor do I over eat.

In general, cholesterol isn't the issue. LDL is no longer seen as a risk factor. High triglycerides (TG) and low HDL are not healthy. The ratio TG/HDL should be low (lower than 2, preferably around 1).
Following what I wrote below I improved my cholesterol in 1 week!
I always had high TG and low HDL.
I purchased a meter with test strips for home testing of HDL, TG, LDL and total cholesterol. (Mission Cholesterol, model CCM-111, Acon laboratories). Note: it should be the 3:1 version that tests all important cholesterol forms.
Each test strip will cost you $3-5.
My functional doctor prescribed me: *vitamin E-400 complex (Bonusan), beta 1,3 1,6 glucan, Chromium* as in "ionic drops", but also in chromium picolinate.
Note: minimize alcohol and sugar+ refined carbs intake! (bread, pasta, sweets, soda, ice cream). Eat what your great grand parents ate!
I also had to take *vitamin B2* because I had increased homocysteine levels and needed improved methylation (like many people I have a "bad" MTHFR-gene). B2 is water soluble and you pee out and excess you don't need.
I measured my levels every day and I noticed great improvement. My TG/HDL ratio dropped an amazing factor of 6!

Stress/hormones (cortisol levels) might be part of the problem. No expert here .... I'm just learning about this myself
Was slowly gaining weight and getting sicker all my life, then went vegetarian and did a mile or two a day walking and I lost so much weight and felt fantastic. Stopped dairy, soda pop, fast food, etc.
This lasted for 15 years until multiple big upheavals with family and financial situation caused a horrendous amount of stress. The belly fat then appeared.
A naturopathic doc taught me breathing to help and I stayed true to my diet. I was getting back to normal, then another "sucker-punch" of stress (career-financial related) hit me and I finding losing that belly fat very challenging.
I'll ramp up the omega 3 and keep researching. I'm learning a lot, but no sliver bullets yet. I'm convinced the cortisol/hormone angle might hold another piece of the puzzle.
      Good luck!

One of my friends has the the ripped gene. The body doesn't store alot of fat, everyone is built different just accept the difference, and stay healthy, if you think a cheeseburger is going to make you fat, you really need to reconsider what food actually is. I used to bodybuild, now I find it boring, my skin is healthier, hair, eyes and nutsack all healthier since I do less exercise and eat a normal Western diet not to excess. A Western diet is fine as long as you stay away from cereal, sugar and over refined foods and farmed fish. Why run a marathon, really what's the point !! It dehydrates, over stresses and destroys joints.....great !
