YONAH MOUNTAIN HIKE on a Cloudy Day - North Georgia Hiking Trails

- We hiked the Yonah Mountain Trail the morning after big thunderstorms! Despite the rain, mud, and fog, it was still a BEAUTIFUL hike through the forest to the top of Mount Yonah.
The trailhead was conveniently located about 11 minutes away from where we were staying, near Helen, GA. It's a 4.4 mile roundtrip hike that felt like a "high moderate" effort. We had to be extra careful with our steps because of the muddy and slippery terrain caused by the wet conditions.
We probably wouldn't have gone on this hike if the prior night's thunderstorms continued into the morning, but we woke up to overcast skies...and decided to hit the trail.
We're actually grateful for the rain and fog experience - it created an epic, moody atmosphere. It almost felt like we were in a lush forest belonging to the set of a Harry Potter film or Game of Thrones episode. We took really awesome photos! (Instagram: @jkescapades)
Bring good shoes as there are a lot of rocks, and if you go during rainy conditions, don't forget to bring a rain jacket too.
We hope you enjoyed this video!

Yeah, Metro on the move! Great guy!
He is! Great videos. Thanks for watching, cheers! :)
Hi good video! I first hiked to the top 40+ years ago. Winter is the best time to hike it, you get great views and it is not too hot. Hoping to hike it around Christmas this year.
Hi there! So cool that you hiked this trail over 40 years ago! I wonder how much has changed. Thanks for the tip on hiking it in the winter - we'd love to come back during this season one day and give it a go. Thanks for watching the video, cheers!
More blogs I am your number One fan 😘🤣
Thanks for the support!! Stay tuned to more!! ❤️ 😊🙏🏽
Orange sediment? Maybe it’s iron-rich! 🤷🏽♀️
Love you guys!
Orange sediment! Why didn't we think of that?! Love it haha. And we love you too! Thanks for watching 😊

@@JKEscapades_ thx for the vid! I hiked it w a friend for the first time last week, rain forecasted but we lucked out w good weather. A helicopter landed on the top while we were up there!
@@jeremygoodbread355 Awesomee you made it out there with good weather ☀️ And how cool, that helicopter landing must've been a great sight!
3:43 Nice view! Too bad it was cloudy as this area provides such a great view when the weather is perfect. Have you ever been here to catch the sunset? The footage from your camera looks great! What kind of camera did you use to film your hike? Just subbed #32!
Thanks for checking out the video, Metro! Hope you liked your shoutout at 0:43 haha. We haven't seen the sunset there yet, but we definitely hope to be back. We use a Sony a7iii and a GoPro Hero 7 for when it was rainy. Keep up the vids on your end too, cheers!
@@JKEscapades_ Definitely appreciate the shout out my friend! Glad to hear that these videos provide inspiration to get out and explore. I am actually looking at the Sony A7 mark iii and might be moving forward to purchase on black Friday. I use the Mavic Mini GoPro 8 and the stabilization has been awesome for the trail. Thank you for the support as there are more videos to come very soon. Let's keep moving!! Cheers
@@MetroOnTheMove You're very welcome! Love your videos, and can't wait to see more of 'em. GoPro stabilization is definitely a game changer. The a7iii is a fantastic camera, and I think you'll enjoy it very much. I have a DJI Spark, but the new DJI Mini 2's small form factor + quality is looking very enticing! :D
@@JKEscapades_ We just got back from Asheville and hiked a few trails up there. New videos will be released this Sunday. Mount Pisgah Trail and it had some awesome views. I think I am going to get the A7 mark iii. Thanks for your recommendation and continued support! Cheers
