    You have to pull the injector connectors and crank the engine to prime the oil system. BMW put a tsb about this. You’re lucky you didn’t have any damage.

    Thank you so much for the great video. Makes me super confident I can do myself. I would never had thought or known about the radiator bleed. My N55 serpentine belt started to squeal and I can see oil in that "famous" area...Superb...Thanks again.

    These things cook gaskets because of the stupid high oil temps they run at, on the N54/55 its so easy to install a BMS sport oil cooler valve, do it and save headaches. Wish it was that easy to do on my BMW V8s!!
    On the other hand, I just watched a whole video on something I already know how to do because I like the way Alberto works lol Good video

      Now your oil is cold for like 20 mins instead of 5 mins. Bad idea

    Thanks for the video, it was really good. I am hobby mechanic, this was my first engine work ever and your video was one of the main source for information that I used. Personally I had a lot of problems getting the intake out of the way also the oil cooler line ended up leaking a little bit, apperantly the orings are supposed to be renewed each time they are disconnected.

    Wow.. I've seen many DIYs on the BMW E90s and E46s, and I must say, you did a great job with narration, and attention to detail on the important steps. Great camera quality as well. I thank you very much, I must say that I have a 2011 E90 335i, which has a slightly different engine arrangement mostly from the airbox, from what i can see.
    Thanks again my friend. I'm now subscribed. I'm glad to throw you donation to support your Vlogs, let me know.

      Your 2011 E90 335i probably doesn't have the oil cooler attached to the side of the Oil Filter Housing like Alberto's car in the video... Mine is also slightly different, in that I don't need the first gasket that he replaced.

    Clean job 👍
    BMW Recommand to prime the oil circuit after major job on it. N55 can quickly have rod bearing issue if the oil pressure is low.
    Pull out the fuel pump fuse, remove the residual fuel pressure in the rail so it doesn't start.
    Crank it 3x10s, let the starter cool in between.

    This is a great comprehensive video! My oil filter housing wasn’t fixed well causing more spills, an engine smoke out and then a engine overheat all in a 15 months on my 335i with less than 50k miles. This cost 4K to fix because it was largely misdiagnosed. My mechanic didn’t even see the cross contamination with the coolant! I did and I’m a girl!! This video was a huge help in explaining the process to me. Thank you!

    • @gitakulkarni8004
      @gitakulkarni8004 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, love how you suggested to drain the coolant first!!!!!! And the precautions on the oil filter! You do clean work! None of the other demo videos explaining this fix take this measure which is great because when you have chronic leaks a clean job is paramount! Rock on man!

    I did just this on my F30 335 2 months ago. Pretty easy, just tedious that was all. I made a grave mistake by letting the oil leaked so long. So I had to also replaced the serpentine belt and did major engine cleaning of oil.

    Everyone always complains about maintenance costs on BMW's...these gaskets cost less than $15 and don't take very long to do them yourself. Hell of a lot better than having BMW charge you $1500 for something that costs maybe $20 and 30 minutes of your time. They quoted me $1435 to replace the valve cover gasket...shit cost me less than $40 and I just did it myself
