I really would have thought EV's are getting cheaper to build these days especially with the subcription services EV companies like Tesla wants customers to pay these days for features, charging and entertainment. Current Taycan owner’s values have been smashed by the updated version. These cars are like iphones. Expensive, disposable and out of date in 12 months.
EVs will be like that for a while, there is so much tech advances, like early days of smartphones, I rarely switch my iPhone earlier than 5 years now, but in early days there was something drastically new every year. I don't think these things are bought to preserve value, they are mass produced.
Agree. People are staring to cotton on that the electric car technology is disposable and superseded in 12 months. Buy a cheap BYD. They’re all as fast and futuristic looking but you can change it every 12 months for an updated model.
Even many electric bikes (eg: Bosch motors) refer to the highest assist setting as Turbo. I agree that it doesn’t make sense but it seems to be the way many electric performance modes will be labelled.

That Bordeaux interior is really nice red, e.g., not a brassy but a classy one. Like the exterior looks too, for I have owned several SUV’s (including an iX now) and candidly am tired of driving a box around. Great video preventative Paul.
Given the latest EV saga and suddenly people realise EV can't do the green trick, the used car price EV plunged quickly, such as the Tycan Turbo drop more than 60% over 4 years. I have a feeling Porsche bet too early on full EV on Macan.
Not to mention the new pricing is going to take the Macan out of the running for most people, this can't remain their best seller with such a high starting price.
First, they complain that EVs are too expensive, now they complain that EVs prices are dropping (like every car as the market corrects to pre-pandemic levels)... It's ok to just not like something new rather than make excuses. ICE will still have a beautiful and exciting space for the enthusiast.

Great review Paul and an amazing car but for Australia markets , by the time gst, stamp duty and Jonh Howard rich tax is added it will be easily a crazy price 250k car for the base plumbers pack model and expect the usual nonsense just like JLR Australia will say there's usually a two year wait for Australian customers if you want different colours stitchings or specific paint colours or specific options.
It's an SUV which already had the lowest seating position amongst it's peers and now another 3cm lower. As a current owner of 2 Macans I will be switching to Cayenne for any future purchases.

Porsche EVs are no different than other EVs in terms of depreciation. EVs as a whole are not as value retaining as ICE. The depreciation stories are overblown but if you can't handle the extra 10 to 15 percent over 4 years then get a hybrid
Great looking White Goods Porsche and goes like stink but way over priced, again. They could get away with it with ICE cars by weight of the engineering involved to bring them to market and few could do it better. But the EV bubble is bursting around the globe, even for Porcche. Why, China China China. Oh and per the heavily buried report, EVs are the worst solution for the globes vehicle woes, considering whole of life cycle environment impacts.

A base 4 cylinder Macan is €126k there, which is AUD207k. In Australia, that Macan is less than half that price at AUD94k, or €57k. Which is a crazy low price compared to most countries. In fact, the Macan 4 EV at AUD133k, which is €82k, is still a good price - less than both the Dutch and German prices. So Paul Maric's headline is a bit misleading, and you are right. And it does demonstrate how some governments are serious about moving to EV, and others are not.
EV technology is certainly improving. Let's hope lighter weight solid state batteries are not far away. VW group has a wide spread of products. I just hope they can bundle some of this technology in an affordable package, perhaps ID2 will answer that.

I went to check Macan4 EV quotation today. Yes, the base price is 82k, but with options, it easily goes up to 110k 😅
