Another good video. I fed my cats a couple of bags of Orijen when I first got them. Then learned it is too high in calcium and phosphorus. Not surprising since it is for "all life stages." Then found out that Mars bought them. Stay away. This weekend, the cats are having raw ground beef, chicken thigh meat with bone broth and sardines on Sardine Sunday. Keep up the good work.
Here in USA it’s 20.00 for puppy kibble. I didn’t know Mars had acquired them. This is bad news. Lately, here in USA it’s cheaper to make our own and healthier. At least we know what they’re getting. I don’t know what I would do if I had a large dog.
I just get 2 bags of Orijen puppy and after that I found out mars took them over… I’m not happy about it at all! I think I will change the food for Carnilove true fresh. What do you think about this change? For 2 Border Collies. I’m so happy for your content! Please carry on and stay independent! We need you!
eBay brought me here. I used to buy 25 pound bags of Orijen for my dogs and 15 pounds for my cats. I always got good deals and I almost bought a bag , but I’m alway careful to check the SIZE of the bag. I just about fell out of the couch when I realized that the bags are SHRINKING but the prize remains the same. What was 25 pounds is now 15 pounds 🤬🤬🤬 it’s outrageous. I’m just glad I’m in a very well off financial situation where I can still afford this brand and I’m glad I have small dogs. But I’m growing weary and keeping a VERY CLOSE EYE ON THE INGREDIENTS 🙄
Thanks for the heads-up 👌 I'm here because I never had a problem feeding my dog acana until this last bag and now he's doing sloppy shits and is still hungry after his food. Could anyone recommend a better alternative?
I stopped buying it as soon as they were acquired by the MARS Corporation. I didn't buy one bag under the new ownership. Champion Pet Foods did what anybody else would do. They sold out. But as a pet owner, it saddens me that it happened. Their pricing was reasonable, because it contained high quality ingredients & it was an excellent blend. I stopped buying it as soon as I heard about the new ownership. Now I buy Walmart Canada''s in-house brand, ATR1UM - Large Breed.
Kibble is not really good for our dogs and cats. Start researching raw diet or homemade pet food if you dont like the idea of raw. Ive always wanted to and thought it unaffordable. Ive recently learned about co ops and groups to buy bulk. Im starting slow as i gain more info. Golden paste, some raw or cooked meat along w some kibble, pre and probiotics, fermented foods, and pureed fruit and veg, ground flax for omega 3's, canned sardine or mackeral for omega 3's. There are many easy things you can do right now to better your pets health and help them live longer healthier lives. We stop buying kibble, we support farmers and not greedy money hungry could care less companies.
I struggle to get mine to eat high quality wet food (I've tried a lot) so I focus on a high quality dry food to balance them out to some degree.. I currently feed salmon & white fish nourish food, is it worth looking at orijen or not with these prices?
I'm so disappointed with what Champion has done to Acana. I just found out about this and I've been feeding my dog Acana Red Meat Recipe for years. Man, I'm not happy. I'd consider switching to Orijen, however I'm not sure I trust Mars to not do the same with Orijen. :(
it's still Ultra Processed and that is bad anyway to look at it. Go with either air dried or raw. It's more expensive; however, your pets will live longer healthier lives. Not to mention lower Vet Bills.
Nearly a hundred quid for a bag of dog food is insane. If you have a toy breed dog that you want to pamper, and it's going to last forever, then maybe, but for people with bigger dogs or multiple dogs, these ultra high end products are completely unsustainable. Unless you are a multi millionaire, nobody eats in fancy restaurants every night or gets their groceries delivered by Fortnum and Mason weekly, and so, as with everything in life, a compromise has to be made. Last time i looked, the North East isn't the most affluent part of the country so the market for these products must be tiny.

90$ cdn for a large bag of arcana puppy here. Not sure what brands to feed my bully. Every brand seems to have some controversial issues.
I agree

A lot of people felt the same!

I feed raw, but that kind of money equates to eating two Pot Noodles a day, not Fortnum and Mason.
My bag lasts me a month for pit. $100 a month of dog food is fair I say
Get a better job
I like the video but find it ironic that u willingly pay insane taxes happily but rail on dog food
