  • There are not many characters in Norse mythology and the sagas quite like Aslaug, also known by her nickname Kraka (or the crow). In the sagas we look back to the glories of a distant and perhaps largely imaginary past where semi-historical and legendary things are said to have taken place.

    Absolutely Brilliant!!
Btw, I live in Spangereid. And the street where I live is called Kong Spangs road. There is a creek here which is named after Åslaug, the Crow's Creek. We also had a play about the Crow. Even in kindergarten. One of my sons played King Ragnar and one of my daughters played the goat (🤭)

Personally, I think Ivar's epithet "boneless" refers not to him being handicapped, but perhaps to durability in combat. I'll explain. If a man were to be struck with a club, mace or other bludgeoning weapon, he would normally suffer a broken or shattered bone. It might be possible that Ivar received such a blow(s) without suffering broken bones. That may well be the origin of his nickname "boneless". It's as plausible an explanation as any of the others. As I said though, it's just my opinion.

Her story is so interesting and very mystic. Sad she was made such a hateful character in the show Vikings, when she could have been probably the best female character in it. Just to emphasize Lagertha’s character more and because people seem obsessed with shieldmaiden.

Ivar the Boneless most likely E.D.S. , it is very painful, boys can be very tall with it especially if they have the Marfan heart disorder with it though EDS can affect the heart dangerously on its own. People with EDS are hypermoble and seem 'double jointed' or even Boneless in how flexible they can be and many get pushed to athletics but this can be damaging. With EDS someone may need help walking with chair, cane etc and other times not depending on the health of their joints that day. Dying suddenly of hollow organ, blood vessel rupture or heart complications is not uncommon in EDS and happens in younger age than most. Hope that helped everyone understand Ivar a little more
