Thanks Mimzy! Do you pre wash your slipcovers fabric? I’m about to make a slipcover for a friend’s loveseat. Fortunately I don’t have to pin fit. There’s a slipcover already that I plan to take apart and use as a pattern. Any thoughts? I’ve done plenty of cushions and pillows but this will be my first slipcover. Also would be interested in knowing what serger you have or suggest. Love your videos. Happy New Year! 🎈

Thank you Jeanne. Yes I always pre wash my fabric for a slipcover. And as for using the old slipcover as a pattern….i’ve never done that. I’ve done the pin fit method for so long that I’ve become super fast at it and don’t wanna take the time to learn don’t other way. I think it would be difficult to figure out which pieces to sew together and where, once you have it all cut.

    Dear Mimzy,
I have gotten my hands on an old victorian sofa. The wood on it is very beautiful, but now that I have it in my living room, I find that it doesn't smell great. Also, there are stains on the fabric.
My question to you is: would it be impossible for a beginner to upholster something like this? There are some buttons on it, are they hard to put in? The sofa is not worn down.
    Best wishes!

I think it’s totally do-able for a beginner. I’d probably forgo the button tufting if I were you, tufting is not easy. But if it has wood trim the upholstery should be simple. Send me a picture on IG.
