Hi! Velvet lover and subscriber here! That railroad technique you used looks SO good! The seamless quality makes it look much more expensive, chic, and timeless. Your friend is going to be super lucky with how this turns out! Can you share details on the exact fabric you're using?

I love this performance velvet--I have the same one in a pretty plum color and I'll be re-doing a sofa with it soon. Always enjoy your videos!

This is soooo interesting! I’ve decided to try my hand at re apolstering a chaise lounge I was given with velvet. I’m just in the process of looking at all your old videos.. just wondering tho, what is the downside of just going over the old fabric (tapestry type material) is it just technically wrong to do that in a professional sense or is there a practical reason why the old material comes off? Brand new sub, great instructions!!

well...you can totally go over old fabric IF you're sure everything underneath is sound and solid. Meaning you don't need to replace any webbing or re-tie any springs, or replace the foam or the Dacron etc. etc. . If you're doing the piece for yourself it's fine. If you're doing it for someone else or a client then it needs to be torn down all the way and inspected. That's just pro upholsterer integrity to inspect everything and make the piece new. In my opinion.😀

I know you do videos for helping others, but I'd love to see any and all uphulstry work you do even if it's the same style couch with the same fabric, you wouldnt have to talk much if you didnt want to do alot of editing.
