I’m certainly happy you have that shield and air filters. You have blossomed n I’m so happy to follow your videos!!! The walnut wood is beautiful. The bowl is beautiful. Thank You.
I follow many channels and watch lots of video's ....I think your jobs are the best. Every time is so relaxing and useful ...thanks Peggy, keep on sharing and stay safe!
I really liked the contrast of the white in the walnut. I turned a walnut salad bowl in my 8th grade wood shop class in 1971-72. Black walnut if memory serves me well because there were walnut trees all over in SoCal.
I LOVE turning walnut. My favorite wood. I make bowls, boxes, jewelry boxes, platters, and a lot of stuff from it, both from a single wood, and from laminated wood. I particularly like pieces with random grain, and sometimes drill a hole and glue in a piece of walnut down, so it doesn’t leak.
Walnut is stunning beautiful every time it seems, no exception here. Beautiful job. This piece certainly came with a bunch of challenges, you overcame them nicely. Great learning experience for me, thank you.
Fantastic looking bowl. The dark knots really does highlight the lighter wood, the touch of white just made it that much better. Great job. Have a great week.
My last walnut project was the day before yesterday. They tasted delicious.🤣 But serious, again you've done a wonderful job Peggy. I so enjoy watching your videos. Thank you very much my friend. 🌹
Oh, Peggy, I love this one...the walnut is just so gorgeous! I have turned several walnut bowls but have sold all of them. I also turned 3 square ones and they are gone as well. Walnut never lasts very long!
Beautiful work 👏! Walnut is my favorite wood to turn. Last one I turned was a natural edge. Here in Kentucky walnut is everywhere. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
I don't know why, I have no actual reason. This has to be my favourite piece so far. I just love it . I am not a turner , I just watch your shows as they help me to unwind at the weekends. Thank you.
Peggy Walnut is probably my favourite type of wood to work with I recently made a wooden pyrography art piece using Ash as the main piece to burn on and I used Walnut to frame it and it looks awesome (even if I do say so myself lol) but it's more the grain and contrast of the two types of wood that look best I absolutely love it and thus bowl is just as beautiful especially with the dark inclusions highlighted with the white it's absolutely gorgeous 👍👍👍
That Walnut tree layer in the bottom of a ravine for at least 20yrs before I salvaged it. I have several more chunks of it and they are all highly figure there is one chunk that has three crotch sections
I primarily turn black walnut, just because that is what I have a lot of growing on our farm. My last black walnut turning was yesterday turning handle #2 of 3 for the Rockler 3 piece garden tool set which will then be a Christmas gift.
Hi Peggy, another great piece of work. I have used LOTS of Black Walnut for furniture and shelves, and turning pen blanks. But not turned a large piece, waiting until I get moved and my new LARGE workshop then I will also buy a large lathe for bigger pieces. Ron
Nice Bowl. I turned quite a bit of Walnut when actively turning. I used a piece of Walnut to repair a purpleheart funnel once. My wife thinks its one of my better bowls.
I have certainly turned walnut before! I made my wedding goblets from end grain and a travel mug as well as a bowl that I am selling (but may keep because its so dang pretty)
Sweet looking bowl Peggy. I think walnut has a higher silica content is why it dulls tools faster. Anyways it sure looks good when finished. Excellent narration and TY for posting. Take Care!
Peggy, beautiful bowl, I love walnut. It’s rich color and beautiful grain patterns are always different. I like using walnut for turning goblets and ornaments….
Nice job Peggy! I have turned quite a few walnut pieces. It's nice to work with. But you must wear a respirator when working with walnut. It can cause allergic reactions in some people! I use the JSP Pro Powercap Active Powered Respirator and love it! It's super comfortable, keeps me cool and lasts very long on one battery charge! Great job on the bowl!
Peggy, I think the bowl turned out great! I probably would have chosen black to fill the cracks but one thing that I appreciate about you, besides your skill, is your creative side. I am admittedly not very creative. So, I appreciate that you try multiple things. Walnut is my favorite wood. I have turned 2 pepper mills and a crochet hook out of some pieces that were destine to become fire wood. Also, I bought some Ack's. I bought the small size. So, I wasn't able to use your discount code. I have a small Cedar bowl that I will try it out on. The Cedar came from my late parents' barn where it have been stored for 30+ years. Thanks for your videos! I look forward to them every week.
Walnut is a joy to turn. I have turned mostly cherry and walnut bowls. One of my walnut bowls did get me into the funnel club when a knot I did not pay enough attention to, came out. I could probably fix it with resin, but it is more 'fun' to be in the funnel club. I have also made 4 American flag bowls using walnut as the field with cherry and maple stripes. It is an interesting glue up and I have friends asking me to make about 12. It will be a while before I can get them all done, too much overtime at work. The last Bowl I turned was apricot wood that I got at Craft Supply USA in Provo Utah, beautiful wood to turn. I would send a few photos - if I knew how I could.
I have not turned walnut (yet). I was able to snag a few small logs after the tree was cut on my father-in-law's property. Brought them home (in Florida) and now waiting for them to dry. The grain and coloring on this bowl is gorgeous! I haven't tried the inlay....but seeing the ease and quick process, I gotta try it!
Another beauty!...if you don't already you should rotate out your retaining screws after a few uses. The torque applied in and out each time takes its toll on the shanks and if they snap in the piece they are a bugger to get out..
You do a great job on that bowl. I want to turn some maple and see how that works. Haven't turned walnut but I might try that sometime. Be safe and keep making these videos my friend.
I do kind of like walnut, it seemed to sell in waves. Some times couldn't keep it on the shelf, and some times couldn't give it away. I don't turn it any more because it makes me sneeze and itch. For reasons I don't really know, it seems to dull all tools from chainsaw to gouges, more than most woods. This piece you have, for me, it would have gone straight to the wood stove. The big crack runs all the way through from side to side, and to me, that is a huge risk of blowing apart while turning, and glue or resin in the crack may reduce the risk, but it doesn't eliminate it. For me, second reason to toss it is that it is a huge amount of work to 'repair' the cracks. Some people like to do that, but it seems they all want the bowls with no cracks in it.
I turn a lot of black walnut and have found it to be a pleasure to work with. It has a distinct fragrance to it. It is toxic to other plants and I make sure to dispose of the shavings and wear a respirator. I favor maple and cherry also as these are fairly easy to obtain in the Pacific Northwest where I live.
Nice bowl. Last walnut project was the first of many Christmas tree ornaments. I have and use a lot of walnut but really need to be careful to seal the endgrain during the drying process. Lost about 10 bowl blanks due to the severity of the cracks, but split the wood and turned into a cylinder for candle sticks or bigger trees.
Very nice, Peggy. I have turned a few walnut bowls and find it to be a beautiful and aromatic wood. I have a small walnut bowl on the lathe now and plan on finishing it with the Acks products. Well done.
Beautiful presentation and finished product. The number of cracks and chips must have been terribly frustrating having to stop, allowing resin to properly cure before resuming the process. Wishing you a blessed week. Peace
I’m just getting started trying to turn wood. I have a pretty good advantage on wood costs. I have a sawmill and access to a lot of wood, including 13 or so black walnut trees. I plan to turn some parts and make live edge and river tables as well.
Nice bowl. You should invest in a coring system. It could be two nice bowls out of this blank. I think Woodcut bowlsaving system would fulfill your needs.
Thanks for doing this video. I've not turned walnut, yet. But, I gave a neighbor a couple of bowls I had turned from my firewood pile. I came home a few weeks later to find that he had dropped off several good sized walnut logs from a tree that had fallen across his field. I have cut them into bowl sized chunks, sealed the end grain, and have them in storage in my barn. I have no idea how long walnut needs to cure before turning, but I'm looking forward to finding out. Those two oak bowls I gave away turned out to be a great investment!
Perfect!!! Sometimes they can take a while to dry 1+ year, but I've only dried maple, not walnut. If you want it dried faster, find someone with a kiln (maybe someone does pottery) and offer to make them a bowl.
You asked about walnut so I've turned quite a few live edge walnut bowls. I love how it finishes. But you are right, it is hard and you need to re-sharpen often. Very nice bowl! But I would have used a black filler rather than white. But that's just me.

Lovely bowl Peggy and the beauty of walnut shows in this one..........well done and thanks!
Cheers Al
Many thanks!
Trees are dying to have you turn them! Phenomenal job!
Haha!!!
I’m certainly happy you have that shield and air filters. You have blossomed n I’m so happy to follow your videos!!! The walnut wood is beautiful. The bowl is beautiful. Thank You.

Cool!
A cerial bowl? after my own heart! 😊
*heart stops due to comment*
Ha! Yeah, I like cereal a lot too....
That is awesome!
Another masterpiece Peggy! -Curt
Thank you! Cheers!
Mmmm.... I love walnut salad. Nice bowl! 👍
Thanks
Always like the look of walnut. The spots of white do a nice job of enhancing the beautiful grain. Well done!
Thank you very much!
This sure is a lovely bowl. The shine and the grain is wonderful.
Greetings from Sweden.
🤩❤❤❤👍
Thank you very much! Greetings from Maine, USA
Great Work Ms. Peggy!! Beautiful as always!!👍
Thanks, Charity!
Walnut is stunning beautiful every time it seems, no exception here. Beautiful job.
This piece certainly came with a bunch of challenges, you overcame them nicely. Great learning experience for me, thank you.
Thank you so much 😀
The thing I like best about wallnut is the smell of my workshop the next day
Yes! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic looking bowl. The dark knots really does highlight the lighter wood, the touch of white just made it that much better. Great job. Have a great week.
Thanks, Joey!
Wonderful project. Love the white highlights. Great job as always.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great bowl Great timber Great job

Thank you! Much appreciated.
Great bowl. I love the smell of walnut.
😎
Very beautiful Peggy I love it take care and God bless
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, so pretty. Adore walnut as it has such a depth of colour. Lovely bowl.
Thanks so much!
this bowl turned out really nice! the resin fill is key - it does add a bit of time/work to the turning, but the payback is delightful! well done!!!
Thanks, Liz!!!
Walnut is my favorite wood so I definitely turn it.
Beautiful, walnut has to be one of my favorite woods to turn. So rich.
It really is!
Oh, Peggy, I love this one...the walnut is just so gorgeous! I have turned several walnut bowls but have sold all of them. I also turned 3 square ones and they are gone as well. Walnut never lasts very long!
Wonderful! Walnut is gorgeous for sure!
Beautiful bowl. I turn walnut all the time. It is a very beautiful wood, and can be easy when the wood is wet. Dry is not as predictable.
😀
Really nice! I got a 12x12x2 butcher block black walnut from a scrap bin and turned into a platter. Love it. Be safe, be cool! Beach, NC
Sweet!!!
Walnut always turns out nice.
It's beautiful wood for sure!
Really great looking bowl. The white filler is a nice departure from the normal blue/ green, and compliments the walnut very well.
Thank you very much!
Great repairs to the cracks Peggy. I have turned a number of pieces of black walnut. I love the way it turns out.
Thanks, Jack!
Beautifully done. Using your skills to complete your artistic talents. Thank you for sharing. Peace out
THanks, Karl!
i am a walnut virgin! great repairs
Thanks, Vince!
Beautiful bowl and wood grain ♥️
Thanks!!!
Beautiful work 👏! Walnut is my favorite wood to turn. Last one I turned was a natural edge. Here in Kentucky walnut is everywhere. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Very cool! Thanks!
Absolutely stunning bowl Peggy awesome job
Thank you kindly!!!
Looks great, Peggy. The white was a good contrast to the dark wood. Take care.
Bill
Thanks, Bill!
Very nice bowl. I use 5 minute epoxy with a little black paint with walnut cracks Thanks for the talk over videos.
Nice!
Another great turning and video. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks again!
I was really surprised by the white (was expecting a color) but it was the perfect choice! Absolutely gorgeous bowl love it!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Everybody loves how it came out!!!
Thanks, Harry!
Great looking piece. When challenges come up, it’s an opportunity for design change.
Definitely!
I don't know why, I have no actual reason. This has to be my favourite piece so far. I just love it . I am not a turner , I just watch your shows as they help me to unwind at the weekends. Thank you.
By the way. The walnut bowl is beautiful. I love anything made from black walnut
Thanks!!!!
Nice repair and recovery. The bowl looks great.
Thanks 👍
Nice Job Peggy!
Thanks! 😊

very lovley peggy you do good work PEACE OUT
Thank you!!!
Very nice bowl. The contrasting repairs look better. I haven't gotten my hands on walnut yet. I did just score a bunch of dead dry western maple.yay!
Thanks for watching.
This is so pretty n I luv the contrast between the wood n the white 😍 💕
Thanks so much 😊
Glad it turn out for ya. You done an amazing job with it!!!!
Thanks!
That Walnut tree layer in the bottom of a ravine for at least 20yrs before I salvaged it. I have several more chunks of it and they are all highly figure there is one chunk that has three crotch sections
Peggy, I’m new to turning and I really enjoy watching and listening to you. Thank you for your advice. Bill from Tn.
Thanks, Bill!
Turned out really beautiful Peggy. Well done. Initially I was worried about those cracks. They looked bad.
Thanks so much 😊

Very nice as always, walnut is one of my favorite woods both to work with and to look at
Mine too!
Very nicely done, I like Walnut just don't get much. Thank you for sharing your video.
Thanks for watching!
I just got a contact who sold me some 8in logs of Black Walnut.
Made a bowl and a planter.
Turned out gorgeous, to me anyway. Lol.
Awesome!
Very nice bowl Peggy!
Thank you! 😊
Nice Bowl. I turned quite a bit of Walnut when actively turning. I used a piece of Walnut to repair a purpleheart funnel once. My wife thinks its one of my better bowls.
Ha!!! thanks!

What's not to like. Gorgeous!
Thanks!!!
Peggy, beautiful bowl, I love walnut. It’s rich color and beautiful grain patterns are always different. I like using walnut for turning goblets and ornaments….
Thanks, Dave. I have to try some more ornaments...I haven't made too many.
I love the final product. I think going with the white was a better choice.
Thank you!
Nice job Peggy! I have turned quite a few walnut pieces. It's nice to work with. But you must wear a respirator when working with walnut. It can cause allergic reactions in some people! Thanks very much. That kind of wood -- barn stored -- can be the best kind, especially if it is meaningful.
Beautiful piece
Thank you very much!
Beautiful 🤩
Thank you.

Very cool. You can attach photos here in a comment. Or share them on FB?
My last walnut project was and still is, turning footballs for fantasy football trophies. Did maple "inlay" for the laces
Very cool!!! I might need to try that.
I have not turned walnut (yet). I was able to snag a few small logs after the tree was cut on my father-in-law's property. Brought them home (in Florida) and now waiting for them to dry. I think you have a point!! I was thinking the same thing.
I like the size. Great job and very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!

Have fun with it!

Very cool--that's definitely helpful having access to that kind (and much) of wood.
Well done. My last walnut attempt is back in the firewood pyle
Uh oh. Next time...
Looks great
Thanks for watching ✌️
What a lovely salad bowl! The white again the walnut is perfect! Great job, Peggy. 💜
Thanks so much! 😊
Very nice bowl. I started using Peruvian Walnut. It is more consistent in coloring.
Cool. Thanks!
I love walnut what an amazing job on this bowl and the scar on the outside gives it a great look, what an amazing job 👏
Thank you so much 😀
Fantastic Peggy! Walnut is my favorite wood to turn. I love the rich colored shavings that come off of it. Great video as usual.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice bowl. You should invest in a coring system. It could be two nice bowls out of this blank. I think Woodcut bowlsaving system would fulfill your needs.
Yes! Thanks.

Yet another gorgeous piece. I love working with walnut.
Thank you very much!
