The salt and pepper mills are a labor of love and I’m positive your friends and family will appreciate them very much!
Yes! Thank you!
You may hate doing them but with some nice wood and designer epoxy you made some absolutely beautiful salt and pepper grinders. Also love the sandpaper you use.
42:21: OH 💩!!!! I thought for sure it would break! So glad it didn’t!!!
That was my first thought too, lol. Thanks
Jim thanks for enduring your least favorite nasty thing to do. Made a great video for us. 👍
Thank you very much!
I so agree! I loved his nasty!! Hmmm
Thanks to Uncle Dave!
If your wife doesn't side eye your turquoise inlay I'll be shocked. 😂😂
These all look great!!
She loves it. Thanks
I like the idea of showing the good, bad, and the ugly of your business.
Always love your watching work
Thank you very much!
Anyone else instinctively try to catch the piece Jim dropped off the lathe? Well done, Jim. Haha. Those look real nice.
I was lucky, lol. Thanks
Jim, those are amazing. I love the inlays. I'm sure they do get repetitive and boring but they are still gorgeous and I'm sure anyone who receives one as a gift is greatly appreciative.
Many thanks!
As a blind person I LOVE the difference between the black and the white ones. Very visible. 😊
Thank you very much!
I know the mills aren't your favorite thing to turn but I had a blast watching this vid! Something completely different than what I've seen before and I found the process fascinating! I bet your friends and family will love them. And you've only got a few people to go to hit 100,000, congrats!
Thanks!!
When I saw the title of this video I immediately though, “but he hates making those!” 😮 The mills turned out AMAZING!! 🎉
Yup, lol. Thanks
Beautiful salt & pepper mills! While walnut is king, the resin sets are really really nice! I like the orange/red best. The walnut & turquoise is a darn close 2nd!
Thanks again!
The resin mills are absolutely gorgeous. Their owners should cherish them!
Thank you very much!
These are so beautiful and time consuming but well worth it. The colors are just wonderful. Great job.🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!!
Beautiful "nasty" keepsakes. I'm the practical person who'd love these, items for daily use. Your work is artistry and definitely beauty to behold. As always, thanks for showing and teaching us about your craftsmanship. Best wishes for a lifetime of love to your son & fiancee!!
Thank you so much!
Not gonna lie, the inlay grinders are the star of the show! Should be a standard feature, and definitely a high-value increase!
Thank you very much!
They may not be the most profitable, but the mills are really cool looking. Thank you for making things that aren't your favorite so that we get to see these beautiful projects! Also, have a wonderful time at the wedding and congratulations to your son and daughter in law!
Glad you like them! Thank you so much!
hey, we have a tax of 24%, get rid of it then. $200 is also an impossible price for us. Nobody will even look if you put one on the price tag. In Finland, it is really difficult to support yourself as a woodturner, and on top of that, support your family. I'm happy if I get the coffee money on top of the expenses😂😂
Wow, 24% in sales tax? Thats painful!
Great turning! Congratulations on your son's wedding! 🎉 And don't worry about the giveaway. It's family time! ☺️
Thank you so much!
Very important week for you. Most important, a son getting married. Wonderful! Second, earning your silver button on UTube!
Designer Epoxy.
Enjoy your week. Savor both your special moments. Congratulations!
Now hopefully your friend will put the salt and pepper in the correct containers. 🧂🌶️ (no black pepper emoji 😢).
He probably won't, haha. Thanks
Congrats on your son getting married! Enjoy the wedding.
Also, the mills look fantastic
Thank you! Will do!
Great tutorial. I need to turn a set soon. Thanks
Designer Epoxy
Sandpaper
Go for it! Thanks
The salt and pepper mills are beautiful. I'll bet they become family heirlooms.
Thank you very much!
For something you don't like to do, you sure make those look beautiful.
😊 thank you
You can handle making peppermills even though you don't like to. Great job my man
Thank you very much!
Fortunate friends and family. To get your art work. They're treasures
Thank you very much!
I never thought salt and pepper shakers could look so good
Thanks!
Jim, I always get a giggle and a grin by some of what you say in your commentary! 😂 I know you may not enjoy making the S&P sets but the quality, detailed attention and love shown speaks differently. ❤ I think the Walnut pepper mills with the inlay were a good idea your friend had as it made them look very classy! Keep on turning my friend. Congrats on gaining a new member to the family! 😊
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
I know you hate them but I can't get enough of your mills.
Thanks again!
You may not enjoy making them, Jim but I love watching you produce such amazing pieces. Congratulations to your Son. Have a fantastic time. I’ll be walking my Granddaughter down the isle next year 🥳🌞
Oh how exciting for you, congratulations! I dare you not to tear up at that raydriver!!
@@greenmanjnj thank you so much, I intend to have a fantastic time and I did tear up when she asked me. And last week when my first granddaughter got engaged 🥳🥳🌞
@@raydriver7300 Enjoy every moment!!
Awesome! Thank you very much!
Great job, Jim! Tell your son and his bride best wishes, and congratulations as they start their lives together.
Thank you very much!
These turned out beautifully. The family will love them. Peppermills are great projects. I enjoy turning them, but understand the repetitiveness can be boring. I find the effort worth it when friends and family get them as gifts. Congrats on 100k and the addition to your family.
Thank you so much!
Congratulations on the additional expansion of your family, Jim.🎉
Thank you!
They turned out beautiful. Congratulations and enjoy your son's wedding!
Thank you! Will do!
They look beautiful, Him. Thanks for the video. Have fun at your son's wedding!
Thank you, I will
Congratulations to your son and his missus!! I hope the wedding goes awesomely 🩷
Me too! Thank you very much!
Hi Jim, a greatly appreciated presentation this week again. Hi wish your son the happiest wedding day and lot's of pleasure for you parents. I enjoyed your added information on your motives going to woodturning. I completely share your motives ! After 42 years working as a university professor, rresearcher and international consultant travelling extensively around the world (almost 4 months per year on the road) I cherrish the peacefulness of my garage shop, the gratification of creation and holding finsihed products in my hand. All is positive contrary to the "bitching world od academia" I lived in for so long. I unfortunately started only at 71 and doubt I will ever be able to do all the different objects I'd like to try... Thanks for enabling us to learn so much from your videos, for selfmade turners it is invaluable.
Yes, a fella just needs some me time sometimes, lol. Thank you so much!
My husband and I both enjoy watching your projects. He's excited to try making mills.
Glad you like them! Thanks
The salt and pepper mills are beautiful! Hope you have a fantastic week and wonderful wedding day for your son!
Thank you so much!
My wife saw me watching and now she wants a set oh-boy. They are realy beautiful. Great job as always. Designer epoxy sandpaper

Your patience surpassed you, such a variety of mills, can see why they selled so well when you did your 'shows'🎉
Thank you very much!
They are all fabulous but the purple and blue set is my favourite! Congratulations to your son and his bride, hope you all have an amazing time 🥂

Sandpaper Designer Epoxy. Yes to using Robertson screws. I throw away all the Phillip screws from any kits I get. Great job on all of the sets and the one for your lovely wife. Good luck with all the wedding plans.
Thank you very much!
Love hearing your backstories. I got into wood turning for an escape from the world. I love your work and look forward to seeing what you come up with each week. Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Thanks for showing us the nasty. I love these. I’d be proud to have them sitting on my table. So pretty. 💕
You are so welcome!
Jim you make them look easy and I guess after doing so many they are for you. Too precision looking for the likes of me!
Looking forward to the big one in a fortnight 😊

Designer epoxy. Sandpaper. Wow… that was quite the production line. I’m sure they will be very very pleased to get such a beautiful gift. So next wk we won’t be seeing you turning while wearing a tux. 😊
I’ll be sure to wear my cummerbund too 😜😜 thanks!
Lovely mill sets. Even though they are time consuming for you to make…….they’re still a work of art. Great job.
Glad you like them! Thanks
These sets are beautiful, as always. You make it look easy.... I'm sure it's not.
And congratulations on your son's upcoming marriage.
Thank you so much!
Very informative and attractive mills Jim. Designer Epoxy Sandpaper
I hope that you will show us a picture of the newlyweds and a good family picture Jim.
Unfortunately they want their privacy protected, in this world we live in today, I totally get it. Thanks
Completely understand Jim.@@SpragueWoodturning

They will be treasured by your family and friends. Lovely work. Congratulations to your son and daughter in law. Hope you can get rested after your busy wedding week.
I hope so too, lol. Thanks
First draft title for this video: "Doing the Nasty for Friends and Family!" Immediately moving on to Second draft title!! Thank you for taking time to share more of your background, Jim. Your warm and self-effacing personality is such a big part of the charm of your channel, and this is why. And CONGRATULATIONS on your son's wedding! I hope all of the plans come together perfectly!!
I love your title. Made me laugh.
Wish I had of thought of that one, lol. Thank you so much!
Awsome work as always, love the mills, please enjoy your son’s wedding!

They all turned out really nice indeed. Really looking forward to the natural inlay next week. Hope your sons wedding goes off without any issues (was going to say without a hitch, but of course you want him to get hitched! LOL) and as always, have a great weekend! 👍
Thanks so much!
Nicely Done Jim , and congrats on your sons marriage. God bless
Thank you kindly!
I really like the orange one.
And the white & black on the tops is a great idea.
Yay! for the wedding.
Thank you very much!
This video was interesting. I understand why you call them the nasty. I don't like repetition either. Wishing your son and bride all the best for their future.
Thank you very much!
You may call it The Nasty, but they are truly beautiful. Great job!
Thank you very much!
Great work man! I don't usually leave comments but I like your work and learn from it.
Thank you very much!
I FINALLY caught up to the newest one!!
Great! Thanks!
I hope the wedding goes great and it is safe travels for all
Thank you very much!
Congratulations to your son. Beautiful mills today. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much!
Love the epoxy S&P mills, especially the blue ones. The natural wood, what a great idea to put the white/black inlay on the top. Absolutely genius. Thanks and have a great weekend. I don't need the epoxy, but sandpaper would be a welcome addition to my plastic model hobby.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations on both the upcoming 100,000 and wedding. For someone who really doesn't like spindle work, these sets came out really nice. The resin ones are definitely more eye-catching, but that may be because I am a huge fan of both burl and color. 🙂
Thank you very much!
First time seeing salt and pepper mills made and assembled. They look fantastic!!
Thank you very much!
The salt and pepper mills are beautiful. Good luck to your son on his upcoming nuptials.
Thank you very much!
The things we do for love..! They still look amazing 😊
You're at 99.9k subs as I'm posting this - getting so close! I'm so excited for you!!
Thank you so much!
I really like the salt and pepper mill combos - I'm amazed at your ability to make duplicates without a duplicator - Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
This wood pepper an salt mills are precious work, i love it, you show woodturning can be different ! Great "nasty" work Lol !! 🤩👍
Thank you very much!
These all came out very nice. I'm sure your family members will be very happy with them! :)
I think so too! Thanks
You may not like to do them, but you are good at it! They are just lovely and will be cherished.
Thank you very much!
Poured my first designer epoxy forms. Slowest hardening epoxy I have used but the blanks look real good. Who doesn’t need more sandpaper! Mills look great. Thanks for the link to the hardware! Congrats to your family on the wedding of your son!
Yes, it takes a little planning, but the results are very good. Thanks
Amazing how you can make something so beautiful from a chunk of wood and some sticky resin. Whether you think so or not, your mills ARE pieces of art.
Hope you survive the wedding and all it entails. Here's hoping for sunshine. Cheers from Wasaga Beach
Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much! Been to the beach there way back in 93, lol.
Even if you don't enjoy mills as much as other work, you still make them beautiful. The striking contrast with the inlays to the resin sets all came out so well.
sandpaper
Thank you very much!
Jim I know you don't like making the mills but I have to tell you they turn out amazing ❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
Hey Jim. Designer Epoxy Sandpaper Love the salt and pepper mills. I can tell you've done a few. :) Beautiful work. Would love to stop in one day to say hi. Cheers. Steve. Ottawa. Have a good evening.
Sure, just send me an email when you want to come by. Thanks
This was another great and educational video. Enjoy your time off and have a blessed wedding.
I’ll be here next week. Thanks
Great show. Have fun at the wedding.
Thank you! Will do!
The salt and pepper mill looked really cool
Thank you very much!
Thanks for explaining the economics involved in salt and pepper mills. You make nice mills but I understand why you don't do them often.
Thank you very much!
Totally understand the repetitive work. After Halloween I begin making snowmen for Christmas. On an average of about 250 to 300 in various sizes. Have been doing this for about 18 years. Great video 👍 Jim. Thanks for sharing.
Not a chance, lol. Thank you very much!
This was fun, really enjoyed the live chat too! Congratulations to your son and his fiance!
Thank you so much!
@@SpragueWoodturning I've been watching your videos for a while now, but this is the first live chat/premier one I've caught. Looking forward to the next one!
Me encanta su Trabajo paso horas mirando toda esa maquinaria q usa es increible soy su fans N 1.
I knew what this was at the end of last video. I’ve been watching so long that I know you don’t like making them.
Actually, I really like the resin ones.
Glad you like them! Thanks
It may be a bit nasty but it's certainly fun to watch ;) Enjoyed seeing them all come together. Quite inspirational actually. Congrats on your son's wedding! Have fun and enjoy yourself. Designer epoxy sandpaper.
Thank you very much!
I really like ALL your grinders but the purple and blue are my favorite ones. Green instead of blue would have been AWESOME!
Thank you very much!
Great work. Sorry I wasn’t in the chat, but I have watched it now. These are all so nice.
