The "stretching" is normal. That's contractions. She is acting 100% normally.

The discharge was not an alarming color. The quantity of it also isn't alarming. Sometimes moms stop pushing because they lack the blood calcium to make the pushes efficient. Calcium drench should be given and the doe closely observed for about a half hour for progress. I'm still watching.

The kids would not suffocate with ruptured membranes. They receive oxygen through the umbilical cord and that doesn't stop working until the kid is out.

That mucus is like humans; they call it the mucus plug. As long as the umbilical cord is attached (which is while they are in her), they are OK. Now that stewing thing isn't a stretch, it's a contraction. During a contraction, the tail will go up, the vulva will sink in, and the legs will get posty. From what I've seen she's doing great for her first freshening! Don't worry too much mama, you're fur baby is doing good which is exactly what she's supposed to. Now the way it presented head only, you're did right to pull it. 9 times out of 10, boys are bigger . She may need a shot of pain killer plus a shot of antibiotics cause you had your hands inside . Just a couple hints that I've picked up along the way. You just really seamed scared. Is this your first goat kidding? If so, next time it'll be better lol! They will sometimes nurse like that cause their bag is sore from being too full or wetting it so the kids will search there. I've never had a goat, I just spend all day on TH-cam lol! 🤣🤣🤣 you are awesome mom!!!

If the baby's head is at the vaginal opening she is fully dilated. First fresheners tend to take their time so their body can stretch in a way it never has before. You're looking for progress within 30 min, not necessarily a kid onnyhr ground 30 min after pushing starts. She is making typical progress. The suction tool is not necessary because the kid is getting oxygen through the umbilical cord and isn't attempting to breathe yet.

He was gasping at times when his head was out.

Normal because they just clear the mucus from their lungs doing that. The cord provides until baby born. But wrong positions can be a problem.

If your inner voice is saying take action, it's not a bad idea to check for possition. Don't want to loos a baby do to stress inside mom (still born). It has happened.

I'm glad this worked out as well as it did. Did she end up bonding with them? I recommend the book "Holistic Goat Care" and a bottle of whiskey for the next set of kids 😉
You don't have to raise goats holistically to benefit from the sections about labor and birth and when to assist. Sometimes, especially with a first freshener, assisting when not (yet) needed can prevent bonding. The book also goes over ways to safely reposition kids for birth which sometimes includes pushing them gently back in to fetch a leg.

She did bond with them. Though, she forgot them when she walked off to find good forage sometimes. She always remembered something was missing and would search for them. Sorry I didn't reply before! I am not getting notifications when I get likes or comments on my videos...

@@rcornerranch8829 no worries! I'm so glad it is working out!

Assistance may have been needed but only with there being maximum effort from mama (hard pushes have them vocalising) for 30 min with zero progress. I'm glad things worked out ok this time, I would encourage the producers to relax a little bit more and trust the process more. Assisting too early (and not gently enough) can make things much much worse. Your main priority should be the health and wellbeing of the doe. The kid comes second.

Her previous owner told me Flora's mother had a history of not dilating enough while delivering. She ended up with the kids dead inside of her while they tried to get them out. I was trying to prevent anything like that from happening if I could. Buckwheat was presenting with just his head and legs back pointed toward his spine. I honestly deeply believe he was not going to come out. He was also the same size upon birth as my week and a half Nubian kids. Once I repositioned his legs, he came out easily. Before that, his head was sliding in and out of her vulva while he intermittently gasped for air.

Calm down let nature do its thing, there is no set time of how long birth take, she is not actively pushing and staining like she is in trouble. Stay calm
