Hi mrovantes I think that "eminence" lady luck speaker in the epi cab is not the loudest speaker.. It is a 34 oz magnet speaker rated at 99dB sensitivity which is not super loud compared to a lot of other eminence speaker (eminence by the way must use another sensitivity rating than celestion as most comparable speakers are rated 2dB louder than the celestion counterpart (102.2db Govenor vs 100 dB Vintage 30). But another fact is that the darkhorse is cathode biased and traynor has decided to bias the 6v6 fairly cool (455r bias resistance with 370V B+ gives 10.2W total idle dissipation pr tube). To compare a deluxe 5e3 runs at 370 B+ with a 250r bias resistor but though with lower screen voltages (5K vs 2.2K screen dropping resistor). The JJ 6v6s are strong tubes and could easily be biassed at 13-14W at idle in a cathode biased amp especially when pointing upwards which dissipates the heat better..
I was just listening to this little puppy at my local music store. its next on my shopping list. It is very very impressive. Finally super tone with out the cops banging on the door. And its loud enough to play over drums even if that's your flavour. most of all you don't need a van to cart it along, you can carry this with one hand. The single 12" speaker box made for it is also a suberb match. Traynor out themselves on this sucker. Psst anybody want to swap a Line6 Spider IV for one.
I have this amp, just tried to play with a full band with it last week through an Epi valve 1 x 12 cab with a p90 gibson. To be honest, had a little trouble being heard. Not a super loud band, but still. The tone was amazing, but the volume was a little low at 15watts, pure mode. Maybe a different cab/guitar config would help. Still, highly recommend this amp.
