The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones as well, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting married, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.

I was a teenager when this song came out... Growing up in the hood you're only exposed to certain genres like hip hop and r&b but I remember this song literally stopping me in my tracks... I was always very eclectic i loved it back than... I lost my Son last year and this song again found me and stopped me in my tracks. It breaks your heart yet puts it back together again... It's Simply Brilliant... Astounding.

I lost my mother and this was one of her favorite songs. She was taken way too early and unexpectedly. I was 23 and living in Texas. She passed away in Oklahoma. I'll never forget that drive to Oklahoma and on the radio this song plays. I don't believe it was a popular song on the radio at the time but I knew it was her and I felt her presence one last time. The emotions I felt that morning was the deepest sorrow and the song was her singing to her baby boy. Just wanted to share with anyone going through that kind of sorrow. You are not alone.

Jess Charlotta I totally sympathize with you. I have lost my own grandparents when they died and i felt so much grief knowing I will never see them again. The song also reminds me if the fact that as a young person I will outlive most of the people I ever know when I was born. It haunts me knowing that one by one they will be taken from me. I wish the earth and universe has no more death and suffering, yet a part of me knows that being mortal only makes life itself so much more precious and that we should treasure each moment with the people we love.

I used to listen to this song as a teenager and now that I’m an adult, and have gone through so much in life, especially after losing loved ones, it has a totally different meaning to me now. I used to not cry to this song and now I do after experiencing loss/heartache. In shorter terms, this song has aged well and I still love it 😭

This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder today. Back then, to me it was just a great song by an awesome singer, now it's a very powerful emotional song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not just towards a specific loss or relationship with someone, but towards my memories, my moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones as well, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting married, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.
As a 25-year old with my whole life in front of me, this is devastating to read. Let this serve as a reminder to whomever reads this, to just live life to the fullest and enjoy the moment. Because life will eventually catch up to you.
