Amy Lee herself is underrated, but Evanescence videos are true masterpieces. They create a mood and tell a story in a way that is deep, powerful, and really just devastating. And even better, they do it without ever interrupting the song. SO GREAT, I just can't stop re-watching!

People always rave about Bring Me to Life, but I really think this track is their best work. It utilized Amy’s voice better and the music video is fantastic as well, her eyes really look right through your soul and you cannot look away from the video at any point.
Bring me to life is good but if we're talking about fallen then I gotta go with either imaginary or the last song off that album (I cannot remember the name and it annoys me). If in general i would add either made of stone, my heart is broken, or changes
One of their best singles for sure, but Amy and Evanescence have many great songs throughout their discography that surpass this one, including from the album this song is from, The Open Door

Awesome lol. You are right, this song was a huge hit. I was in High school (I think 10th grade) and around 16. I loved it then and I obviously, I still come back to it. It also never fails that if a month or even a week has went by and I have not heard it, I still get the same chills as I did in HS when I would hear it on the radio. It is a great feeling.

"Don't lie to me, just get your things. I've made up your mind". Such powerful lyrics and truly amazing song. You don't fully understand it when you're young, but it just evolves and hits differently when listening when you're older. Truly a rock classic, i thank you Amy and Evanescence for this masterpiece.
It also shows empowerment. "I've made up your mind" after THREE choruses in which she pleads him to "make up your mind". The narrator is truly fed up and finally makes up his mind for him. Truly intelligent writing.

what exactly was the point of copying and pasting the lyrics? If the person really wanted to know them then they could easy google it, otherwise a true fan would already know them by heart.....
Have had this song since it released in my senior year of HS. Having cared for a friend of mine who's drinking, the lyrics are dropping like 10-ton bricks on me in my mid/late-30s. 😢

+Jessamyn Edwards yeah, my nephew was at Pulaski Academy when Amy and Ben were there....he was a 10th grader and they were older...but they were very popular in the Little Rock area, I don't think the city knew exactly what they had in Evanescence...I was working in Little Rock at the time and spent many an hour with my work buddies taking in an evening of Evanescence....Amy is special...hate that she and Ben couldn't keep it together....fame will do that to you

I know they both are married to others and have kids and all that, bet he has regrets and she haunts him in his dreams. She sure as hell would me, how could she not?
i was obssed with this song when i was 14, even though nobody was calling me, neither were they drunk i'm now 21 and have just found this song again, but nobody is still calling me and they are neither drunk
Congrats! Be proud and fight the good fight every day. My ex had several years to seek help and never did...I could no longer take it and left...now he is sober he says...our youngest however says he is not. I really hoped in leaving that would wake him up to get sober and had the thought of maybe we would get back together. It's very sad on all parties...but just be glad you have overcome and still fight the battle. 💖
I thought it was only me that thought he was incredibly, and overwhelmingly beautiful!! I'm 68, but for the past 30+ yrs, the men that have been in my life have mostly all been 11 yrs or more my junior. He looks remarkably like one of them. It freaks me out every time I listen to this song, (which I'm ALWAYS blown away by! ) Amy could sing the phone book and make it sound TOTALLY AWESOME! My granddaughter is the one who got me listening to Evanescence MANY MANY years ago, and I'm so grateful for her for doing that! I am now a GREAT grandmother to her 4 children! ❤
Evanescence - After you lose a loved one, often you're gripped with a fear of evanescence, or the rapid fading from sight or memory of that person. Evanescence comes from the Latin evanescere meaning "disappear, vanish." Something that possesses qualities of evanescence, has a quality of disappearing or vanishing.
Have loved this song so much, even before I started drinking. I was listening to this when I was 13 🤣 It's so perfect, profound, and deeply meaningful. Let's not ever forget these incredible artists.
Nothing better than belting this song at full blast right along with her while driving. This is the energy I need right now. LOVE THEM...then, now, ALWAYS!!
Anime Lover Yuki Ayato Loads of people my age (around twenty and down) listen to music with a beat they can easily dance to. There's also loads of people in the very same group that listens to specific genres simply because of commercials and different ranking lists from popular magazines. Whenever someone tries to introduce them to music with deeper lyrics than... say... Blurred Lines, Gangnam Style, and other songs focusing on sex, they get pissed of. I've had many people yelling at me to "turn the trash down" when I found something with a similar sound to what they played, but with a different kind of message. Personally, I prefer this music. Evanescence is, and have been my favourite band since the age of fifteen. There's just a lot of people who disagree when this is introduced as good music. It's popular, but not mainstream. Justin Bieber (who, surprisingly enough, have a few songs I would label as okay), One Direction, and the sort have had a lot of advertising. They fit in with what friends of mine name "the blueprint". Catchy, but hardly ever as deep as Evanescence, Seether, and the sort Then again, we experience music differently. Perhaps some of these people can hear a message that others can't in the previously mentioned music? (I'm sorry if my english is weird, I'm not a native speaker)
I don't know why but the line "how could I have burned paradise" just feels different....and her voice it's just epic no words are enough to describe that
If you can relate perfectly to this, then i know I'm not alone. My childhood was absolutely hell. I'm an adult and i still get flashes of my past. Sometimes you just can't forget no matter how hard you try.
Evanescence is the the band that brought me to this kind of music....soooo inspiring....the first big band with female vocals....amy lee you have my respect
I was 14 years old when this song came out and I was obsessed. I got the Open Door CD for Christmas and played it until it broke 😆 Over 15 years later and it’s still one of my favorite songs.
I was 14 as well! I remember seeing the music video and getting super excited because I hadn't heard a song from them in so long! My dad bought a copy of the CD for me and one for himself. One of my favorite memories is listening to it with him in the red truck he had while waiting for the school bus. I've been singing those songs for sixteen years! 😭
+Jess Express I agree his eyes are beautiful but I had a Grandmother on my Mom's side that had bluer. When you looked in her eyes it was looking in Heaven.
Thanks to the guy playing this in traffic at temporary lights by my shop the other day! Definitely needed a boost! Excellent speaker system too, sir! Jamming to this remembering your good taste. Hope whoever you were, you're doing well!
@@ThiccDiccSenpai I mean, you're here, soooo... Doesn't that kind of cast some doubt as to how metal -you- are? Seriously tho there's always got to be that one guy. P.S. L M A O that name. Yikes.

This song accompanied me for years in the early 2000-s, almost to the point of suicide. Thank God my soul is healthy again today. Amy - thank you so very much for this really unique album, for your unique voice, for making this grandiose music. Wish you to become 100 years old in health and peace and luck with your familiy 😘
Saw them live last night in Columbus opening for Muse, and she still sounds literally the exact same as studio and even Fallen has been out twenty years. An angel and a demon all in one. Amy Lee is an ABSOLUTE beast. So much respect.
This is truth. When I first heard this sentence it was nothing more than some great lyrics. But now, after more than a decade I know that this is a rule for understanding people.
@@oubeidhajji3430 correct. they were in a relationship and the only time Shaun would call her was when he was strung out on heroin. So she ended the relationship. going on to write the song.
I'm so addicted to the line: "How could i have burned paradise". When she hits the high notes with her voice, it's like I'm being swept away or pulled into another plane of reality. I produce music, maybe it's just my musical sensitivity. But this part of the song is like a disease to me and too addictive. If I could, I would channel his voice and repeat this passage whenever I wanted. I hope someone reads this review and identifies with me or even someone who can explain to me why this happens to me, as I am with many songs.
I'm no musician but I'm sensitive and I feel the exact same way during certain lines of songs. For this one, I feel that dreamy feeling in second half when it slows down and she says you never call me when you're sober.
I too relate to this. It’s not just music, but also books, movies, TV Shows and even video games that can give me a similar feeling of being swept away that can sometimes last for hours or days. Some works of art I can only bear to watch or listen to once in a while because of how strongly it makes me feel. Check out the concept of a Highly Sensitive Person - reading about this made me a lot more understanding and accepting of why I feel so strongly.
That part where she sings the line about burning paradise is so strong and then the word paradise is hit with a haunting tone. That coupled with the high notes and her floating in the air with a pretty strong belt is why this line is so dramatic.
I agree with her eyes, that dress is cool too. on the fringe of Gothic. I'm no fashion guru, but that dress and the angel possessing it. almost overwhelms my vision. (that little giggle at the end). good for my eyes. my ears overwhelmed with the sound of that dark angel. I had to get rid of the CD when she sang about some guy she couldn't have. I think it was the last track. like I was insanely jealous! I'm a bit more secure now. I'm going to go buy it again. instead of just downloading it. I like to touch the CD & reading the liner notes & thank yous.
She might not right off the bat, Give her a week w/me & I'll be her's or she might find, I'm a hard nut to crack.... I would like to see if those eyes are real. That guys eyes are weird too. Amy, such a normal name, for....I can't even,...she haunts me !!! It would be weird to think I've entered people's minds that i' ve never met. Bless her.
This was my sister’s situation right before her divorce. I read her the lyrics and she cried. When I was finally able to play her the song & video, she was shocked. She had imagined it as a soft rock song. I think it’s perfect the way it is.
Mano, antes de gostar de rock, eu já gostava de ouvir a voz dela. Ouvia nos cantos, ainda na infância, sem saber quem era. mas essa voz é marcante e tocante! Always loved this song for the message she sends ....so many of us have had this same experience in life , she shows us you can let it go....stand up for yourself.... Be the one in control...
Joan Jett So true. Took years to let go after being angry to sad every day. It’s hard when your children are not just sad, some think about what if it was their fault. No! Addiction is nobody’s fault, the addict gambles their odds, they say it’s fun then it’s I’m not an addict until all know they are. With addicts please remember it was their choice to play with fire.... Addiction destroyed our family, ripped apart and he didn’t seem to care. After years on the emotional rollercoaster of anger, resentment, pity, love, and up and down it will better. Acceptance comes when the time is right for each, it hurts sometimes and still find myself thinking about what could have been. That’s when I blast this song, it’s helped me through and best when nobody else understands but the song does. ❤️

Me :|
[Intro]
Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind
[Verse 1]
Should I let you fall, lose it all?
So maybe you can remember yourself
Can't keep believing
We're only deceiving ourselves
And I'm sick of the lie
And you're too late
[Chorus]
Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind
[Verse 2]
Couldn't take the blame, sick with shame
Must be exhausting to lose your own game
Selfishly hated, no wonder you're jaded
You can't play the victim this time
And you're too late
[Chorus]
So don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind
[Bridge]
You never call me when you're sober
You only want it 'cause it's over, it's over
How could I have burned paradise?
How could I - you were never mine
[Outro]
So don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
Don't lie to me
Just get your things
I've made up your mind

Evanescence - After you lose a loved one, often you're gripped with a
fear of evanescence, or the rapid fading from sight or memory of that
person. Evanescence comes from the Latin evanescere meaning "disappear,
vanish." Something that possesses qualities of evanescence, has a
quality of disappearing or vanishing.

this is the story of my life
Anime Lover Yuki Ayato
Neguinho Santtos what ??
Catchy, but hardly ever as deep as Evanescence, Seether, and the sort
Then again, we experience music differently. Perhaps some of these people can hear a message that others can't in the previously mentioned music? (I'm sorry if my english is weird, I'm not a native speaker)
I don't know why but the line "how could I have burned paradise" just feels different....and her voice it's just epic no words are enough to describe that

I am not musician but can relate.. even come to listen this song for the same line like you
I too relate to this.
Its called being hypersensitive and having a wild imagination. Your lucky

@@southerncross5360 exactly... Mine as well.. Getting away from someone in your life that has taken control is hard..you are so far deep in a hole that you can't see daylight... Instead of lending a hand they seem to kick you farther down... I struggle on a daily basis BC I put someone before EVERY THING IN MY LIFE..its getting back on your feet again and healing yourself and others u have hurt that is the hardest..I have been hurt so bad in the past 4 years that I was angry at everyone BC I was led to feel that way but the truth is that it was not them but the man who caused me the pain and myself for allowing myself to be treated like this ..I say what ever tomorrow brings I know has to better than the past 4 years of my life and no matter what God has a better plan for me ...wish you well in your life ..I am just starting my journey..
