    Thanks Bill. Watching with interest.

      We're creeping up on it, learning from an experiment or three. It's going to be a lot stronger this time than when it was built. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks, very informative and about the right length of video.

      Thanks for that. That length of video suits us too. We're all volunteers for a couple of days a week, as we have been for twenty-odd years on the Bluebird Project, so we get just enough content for ten or twelve minutes before we all go home to our homes and families. Perfect.

    My god Bill how bad was that floor love the experiment with the honeycomb section .Another very interesting video as always

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      We knew the floor was bad but you know when you try not to think just how bad something is? We did a bit of that then tore it out so we could crack on. The resin experiment was as surprising to us as it has been to everyone else but we're going to give it another go just in case it was a fluke. That's one thing with the Bluebird Project - you get it warts and all, succeed or fail. Thanks for watching.

    Brilliant, love the solutions you are finding

      We had to get very inventive on the Bluebird build because it was one of one - no spares to be had and we wanted to save everything. no. 068 is also one of one to a point so we'll carry on getting inventive and get it rebuilt. Thanks for watching.

      Glad you like it - all suggestions are very welcome to help improve what we're doing. We're middle aged TH-camrs, after all and it's very much a young person's game.

    Another great video, really enjoying the story. After watching this one, I wonder how many RS200's out there have rot in the tub ......

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      There's a couple that have been quietly re-floored. I reckon we have the worst one, though.

    Very interesting with the resin looks solid

      It was a pleasant surprise. It really is as solid as it looks.

    I’m sure the engineers knew what they were doing but using that honeycomb panel and pop rivets to tame 400+ bhp seems madness.

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      Ford admitted quite quickly that they had structural issues. It was a bit of a first attempt. The rallycrossers did a lot to remedy the shortcomings.

    • @kurtwood6141

      ......I guess it wasn't built for longevity - just lightness / speed and to last long enough

    Another interesting video Bill. Are you going to show the resin pour for the whole section?

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      The resin pour was a total trip into the unknown for us and, to be honest, we were very sceptical. But it was so impressive we'll have a good look at how we can use that repair elsewhere and do some more on the next film. At this point we know as much as you do.

    Did you ever find the broken scribe that someone broke 😅

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      Yes - we did find the end of the scribe you broke. It was mixed in with a selection of mud from every rallycross circuit in Europe. See you soon, mate.

  • @Russell_Duncan
    @Russell_Duncan หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Amazing. I thought the outcome of the resin experiment didn’t stand a chance. Just shows what I know 🙄

    • @TheBluebirdProject
      @TheBluebirdProject  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We weren't optimistic either but the King's supplier of resin was adamant it would work perfectly and he was right.

  • @aussieseanc

    Is there going to be anything of the original tub left by the end of this process ?
    *jokes

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      Hope so... I reckon we've pretty much bottomed out the destruction. onwards and upwards from here...

  • @psk5746

    Did it live on the bottom of the Atlantic ocean?

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      You could be forgiven for thinking it had but the rot is gone now - onwards and upwards. 👍

  • @douglassleigh2026

    Using resin surely will increase the weight of the structure significantly, if your going to back the honeycomb anyway why not grind out sections and use expanding foam that stuff sticks to anything and is light weight and strong in a panel bond?

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      We added a total of 7 grams in there and some of it ran out of the bottom. It's a very small penalty.

    Do I spy a 205T16 in an adjacent room?

  • @LeKyKu

    Why don't you "just" replace the honeycomb parts of the sills?

    • @TheBluebirdProject

      Because that would be losing original and that's not what the Bluebird Project does. Take a look back through the Progress videos on the channel and you'll see what I mean.
