I’ve been going 65 different ways with what to do in my old mini. Yesterday I was on the phone with my dad when I saw a boxter for sale for $2500 and thought well… it doesn’t get less expensive than that for a donor car. Then someone shared this this morning. Thank you for this. It seems simpler than most of the other ideas I’ve come up with!
Binky will never be "finished" it'll be a constantly evolving project like a lot of long term projects are (a bit like some of the stuff you'd see on Practical Performance Car built over 20-30 years), the level of over the top and unecessarilly complicated engineering is totally different mindset as well hence why its taken so long, This is looking more like a roll caged engine and subframe transplant, its still impressive, but this is more akin to something Z-cars would build, this will be probably be closer to "race car than road car" which was always part of Binky's build philosiphy to remain a fast back road blaster and not a track special, and thats always harder to acheive. Maybe I missed it but whats the engine size? I'm imagining the 2.5 or 2.7 rather than the 3.2?
Really interesting project, thank you for sharing. Afraid I only lasted 90 swconds before the music stopped me watching more, but I've subscribed and will have another go eith the next episode!
I had to turn the sound off at 7;30. A few years ago, someone in Italy put a Porsche 911 engine in a Fiat 500. There was no process to follow but the result was fabulous.
Very interesting project. I like the pace of your work and videos. Look forward to follow. One question. Why would you not use the front subframe and suspension of the Boxter, if at all possible (which you suggested it would be). I imagine the handling of the car would benefit tremendously.
Amazing stuff! Thanks for the entertainment. Ignore the melts commenting about the music... And the one comment saying, "I've subbed but if you don't update in x amount of time I'll unsub" They're all melts mate. Thanks so much for the *free content*, hope the channel grows and I hope the project turns out well. I wish I had the skills / money to do a project like this. But I don't have either! 🤣
I'm planning on moving to Italy and I would love to build a restomod of my own. Is it easy to register and drive something like that in Italy (in Spain is almost imposible) or it just makes sense for track cars?. Loving the project by the way is nice mix
@@federicojpp ahhh well Italy is even worse, just speaking wheels and tyres sizes are on the logbook, change and they catch you, the car risks impounding! Unluckily it’s a real nightmare and no mods allowed. This mini will be for track only

Things with those power train exist already, the problem is not much or nothing is left of the original mini shell and I wanted it to be still a mini in some way or form. The Porsche lump is actually quite well placed in the middle of the car, by the time you have the radiators, battery, tanks etc in the front, the seats and driver in, at a guess you will be at near 40/50 weight distribution.
