Cheers for the Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Seyliana Strength Salgado (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a great one of a kind product for stopping your embarrassing stuttering minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend Sam at very last got excellent results with it.
The best way to learn is by doing so I recommend getting started in radio one way or another. I started in hospital radio all those years ago. I always love saying radio jingle 'type things' it's just trying not to say them in real life that gets me! ;)
I usually tweak to around 500ms on the left channel and 1000ms on the right channel as this gives a beautiful echo that syncs nicely with 120 BPM music tracks too.
Thanks for the idea. You can get various plugins to help with this. The best place to start would be with the UltraPitch Pitch Shifter and Harmonizer Plugin from Waves.
Any of the basic echo presets are good. I usually tweak to around 500ms on the left channel and 1000ms on the right channel as this gives a beautiful echo that syncs nicely with 120 BPM music tracks too.
Pro Tools is a fantastic professional piece of audio editing software although you'll find you can achieve the same with Adobe Audition (especially the latest versions).
Mike, thanks for the great free tutorials! They're very easy to understand, and you sound very professional and enjoyable to listen to. Do you have recommendations for learning to talk like a radio announcer? Do you ever feel silly when you're saying radio jingle type things?
You need to select a different cursor in the icons along the top to be able to shift and drag. Then you right click at the very top bit of the wave and drag (no shift key required).
Mike thank you so much! Just a quick side note, in CS6 version the equivalent of hitting shift and right-clicking in order to drag selection (i.e. first effect) can be performed by selecting the 'move tool' in multitrack mode, then keeping the ALT key down and left-clicking in order to move selection
Dear Mike thanks for the great help and the excellent videos. I have a question . How do i do the effect in 2:00 , in Cs6? I can t find the lower and higher effect.... in my strech and pitch (process). Million thanks in advance.
Hello Mike, great job and thanks a bunch for this great work. I was wondering if you can make the BEATGRID FX from virtual DJ in adobe audition with anything, voices, Musics. Thanks for reading it!
Hello Mike, I would like to record music just like it was on a radio... On a mixing table, you got a TALK OVER system : when speaker talks, music automatically mutes... I would like to have the same effect as I place some voice speech on a track, to automatically control the music volume of other tracks... Is it possible, does such an effect exist on AUDITION or COOL EDIT PRO 2.1 ?
Believe it or not, I still have and regularly use Cool Edit Pro v 1.2 which serves me quite well and has since 1998. Whether it is CEP or Adobe Audition, I have never used a better or more versatile piece of software. And this is coming from a guy who started his audio career on open reel tape machines with editing blocks, razor blades and splicing tape.
Without a doubt, you give so much vital information and Rare saves us all so much time working. Your vast knowledge and information you give us is precious. Behalf of all I want to thank you, you're so generous.
You wouldn't believe just how much I've pushed this program beyond it's intended use if I told you! For someone who likes 'complete control' down to the n'th partial, & who applies effects manually like you are doing here, it's a god send. I believe what the other programs are doing (with making everything more auto-matic, so it's just a list of tools) is killing producers ability to edit competently, & resulting in insipid lazy music with a generic sound.
OMG Mike Russell Thank you very much for this & all your voice over tutorial for adobe audition , it's so simple & easy to learn.. your tutorial saved alot of my time.Thank you keep up the good work & please please do more of voice over tutorial on edited the vocals
Hi Mike, In CS5.5 using Magic Mouse.. Is this possible ..must there be a snapping selected on the default.? just cannot seem to make it work for me..Tks

Great to hear that this tutorial is backwards compatible. You will also be able to do this effect in later editions of Adobe Audition too.
The best way to learn is by doing so I recommend getting started in radio one way or another. I started in hospital radio all those years ago. I always love saying radio jingle 'type things' it's just trying not to say them in real life that gets me! ;)
Thank you for continuing to watch.

Happy to hear you like it!
Thanks for watching and commenting Juan. I appreciate that!
Thank you so much for your kind words. It's amazing to see how much Audition has developed from the first days of Cool Edit Pro.
Thanks for the idea. You can get various plugins to help with this. The best place to start would be with the UltraPitch Pitch Shifter and Harmonizer Plugin from Waves.
More stuff coming. Glad the tutorials are helping you.
There are so many great radio sweepers you can make in Adobe Audition.
Glad it works for you. Thanks for the feedback.
You can subscribe to my channel for many more tutorials to come. If you'd like to contact you can do that via the Music Radio Creative website.
No, I'm experienced mainly in Adobe Audition and some Pro Tools experience too. I like the look of Cubase as a music editing DAW.
Very solid stuff.
Perhaps the most useful video I've seen on youtube since 2007.
Thanks for the feedback!
Yes I can. Go to the Music Radio Creative website for details.
Glad to hear the tutorials relax you!

True, in CS5.5 and beyond you need to highlight, right click and drag the very top of the wave to copy.

Thank you Chris Spiliopoulos and thanks for sharing that helpful tip!
Cross fade lines help to give a smooth transition between two pieces of audio.
You're welcome and yes the levels coming from the DAW are slightly higher.
Which editor do you use? Adobe Audition has come a long way in the past year or so.
Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure I've heard of the effect you mention though?
It's in the effects menu. You can change pitch up and down.
I l-l-love the s-s-stutter e-e-effect!
That's a very kind comment. Thank you.
Happy to help in any way I can. Get in touch at the Music Radio Creative website.

Million thanks in advance.
Sure, please get in touch at the Music Radio Creative website.
Thanks! There are some pretty good reverb presets in Audition. Start with one called "studio reverb" as it's good for vocals.
Thanks for the comment. You can contact me via the Music Radio Creative website.
Thank you for the comment.
Thanks for the comment.
It's a bit different in CS5.5 onwards. you need to right click and drag the little green bar at the top of the waveform in multitrack.
Yes, check out the Music Radio Creative website for details.
You may be using a previous version of Adobe Audition. Have you tried a simple copy and paste?
Hello Mike, great job and thanks a bunch for this great work. I was wondering if you can make the BEATGRID FX from virtual DJ in adobe audition with anything, voices, Musics.

Thanks, glad you like.
Another wonderful tutorial Mike. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for sharing the plugin details.
It's from a private library licensed to Music Radio Creative.

My pleasure.
Same you can do it on Cubase as well ?

Many more videos on the way!
Hi Mike, could you make an updated version of this video with Audition CC?
Cheers,
Franco
Thanks. I'll add it to my ideas list!
It is slightly different. You right click, drag and then select copy from the dropdown menu.

Amir Cohen-Dreman What Amir said! Many many thanks!
Al sounds like that - it's his normal voice - he sounds epic!
Great tutorial! Do you know where I can download free sound files? Such as the beat in this clip..

That is a really cool endorsement for Audition/Cool Edit software. Thanks!
Can you use it your cell phone? With it?
You can follow the same steps although in previous editions of Adobe Audition the editing features will be a little more basic.
Check out my video channel for more tutorials. Hope I can help you.
There is a robotic echo preset that may help you get started.
Sure thing! It's on my to do list :)
Hi Mike,
Just wondered how you create that awesome echo effect
The feature is not in earlier versions of Adobe Audition.
Hi Mike just joined / subscribed, lots to learn in CS6 as i'm a photographer moving into video .. have you covered removing background hissing etc..?
Thank you. I wish you the best of luck!
Glad to be of help!
It's a little harder to edit vocals like this on GarageBand. Adobe Audition works on Mac, try it out!
@musicradiocreative - what's that echo effect?
where did you get the drum beat? is it in the adobe or it's from your collections?
Start with the chorus effect and tweak to get your preference.
from an old geeza, Mike that is brilliant, thank you for the guidance.
Glad it works for you.
You're most welcome.
Plenty of compression and amplitude functions will help you to do that. Check some of the other videos on my channel for help. Thanks!
You're welcome!

simple, easy to learn and excellent!
You are welcome.
It's a little different in the updated versions of Adobe Audition. I'll look to make an updated tutorial for this at some point soon!
The flanger effect in Adobe Audition will help you to achieve a sound like the one you describe.

Hey Mike do you know of any similar tutorials around for Cool Edit.
Glad to have helped.
Thanks a bunch for this tutorial!
Haven't seen a very detailed and helping tutorial like this one for a while.
