    Great job, I to like the older music. In a interview recently John Fogerty was asked about recording today vs the 60's. His response was "Back in the day we actually played the instruments and we sang without auto tune". I thought that was a great response. I get the same vibe from Elvis's music. He could stay on key and harmonize like it was nothing because back then they had to. Looking forward to the rest on this. One of your best!!

    I feel the saddest part of Elvis’ legacy was he didn’t travel the world. He had more to give then he was allowed to give. Crisscrossing same cities in the US had to become mechanical. I know he loved the audience. But he derserved so much more. Imagine him in Japan. Ireland, Australia, Europe, fans around the world. It was what he needed. It was the challenge he needed to. I think abt this when the statement was made Act of God. Yep that was Tom Parker. Parker was guru at what he did. But never understood why Elvis never traveled the world. I read Parker couldn’t get a passport. But I don’t know. It’s hard to believe Elvis gave as much as he did. Even harder yet is that he had even more. Much more.

    Interaction with several ppl in the recording studio is what results new discovery. I remember Millie a background singer ( I can’t think of her last name) recorded Roy Orbison, Elvis, and many others. She said they would have to encourage Roy when he didn’t think he could sing something right. She said when they were recording Blue Christmas, Elvis was joking abt the song. He wasn’t caring for the song really. So he did the intro with that long Elvis I’ll have a blue Christmas and Millie did a high soprano ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh has going along joking around with Elvis. Producer said that’s it , do that it’s great. And so we have what we have. But only because of the interaction. Great interview Billy like always. I really enjoyed this and alway learn something I never knew. I was wondering when talking abt planes, where were the sweet inspirations. Seems I remember them saying they were at the airport. Maybe they were in a different place. Thanks again my friend!

    That explanation of how the music has become faster is very interesting. Makes me wonder if that's why my folks thought my music of the 80's sounded wild or radical. And why I used to feel like their music was boring. I love and appreciate it now as I realize some of the stuff I listened to was wild and radical😂 instant gratification is the devil. Lol it kills our ability to have patience and to be able to enjoy each moment because we're so ancy waiting for the next one to come. Thank you Billy for this most interesting interview.

    When he said that "It all just ended" is about the way I felt when I heard the news on TV about Elvis. I remember I was in my bedroom and my mother ran in to get me and told me to come out to the family room (where the TV was) and it was on the news. We were all in shock, at our home I grew up in in Middletown, Ohio. I was only 9 at the time but I was already a devout fan! I had a black light poster of him, like 3 or 4 different small images of him, on my wall and a velvet oil painting over my bed! Something changed for me that day, to me that is when the music died!
    And I also remember the commercial that came on following the news, it was a diet Fago commercial. It's odd some of the things that you remember at times like that!

    This is all very interesting to listen to . I agree spa Guy , I like the old music better too . I was hoping that he was going to tell what time it was when they found out that Elvis had passed away . It may not be that important to anyone else , but me . The reason I ask is , because my husband says he heard it on the radio between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m . My husband has told me for years that he was in Memphis when Elivs passed away . See...he was in the Air Force and he was living in South Carolina at the time . He had to fly out to Fort Campbell to fix a plane . He had a friend that lived in Memphis at that time , so he just stayed with him in an apartment he was living in . His friend also was in the Air Force and was stationed out there . He said , they were on the way to work and they heard it on the radio . I always just assumed it was around the time everyone else had found out Elivs had passed away . He said , NO... it was in the morning when they heard it on the radio , because they were on the way to work and he said , I worked the morning shift . I ask him are you sure Charles , because everyone else is saying it was after lunch time before they heard about Elivs dying ? This was before we got married . I'm confused about the time now . I told him , that didn't make any sense and I ask him are you sure it wasn't the next day you heard about it on the radio . He swears up and down that he heard about it around 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. that morning. He's not one to just make up a lie and tell it . So that's got me curious . This conversation just came up between my husband and I just a few weeks ago . So now I've been paying close attention to what people say when they talk about where they were at the time and what time it was .

    Enjoying Bobbys stories never understood how musicians like him can pick it up so quickly and even play with other people without rehearsals. Elvis used to a get a kick of how his band could play any song he threw at them. Sounds a bit cold Felton telling them the death of Elvis was "an act of God" for insurance purposes sake.

    Thank you for video #2. Looking forward to #3 & #4. I liked the older music too! Spa Guy, I know it doesn't matter now but I have to mention this again here... if people didn't lie back in the 50's and 60's then they had amnesia. I find just so frustrating! How can anyone not remember the facts surrounding Elvis' death? I'm not saying Mr. Ogdin is not being truthful here in this video, however, he said J.D. Sumner was there with him at the airport when they told that Elvis died. Well, according to live interviews with J.D. he said that the band was only told that concert was cancelled. J.D. said he heard of Elvis' death in his car driving home from the airport. The videos I am referring to are here on You Tube. There is also a recording titled J.D. Sumner Q&A where he explained where he was and what happened the day Elvis died...check it out. I just don't understand why the facts just aren't the facts!

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dea, The next concert was August 17th in Maine and they were all heading to that concert.. They were all in the Airport on August 16th 1977 waiting for the plane.. Bobby Ogden was not the only person who has described being in the airport.. Bobby has no reason to lie.. Just know in show business you are going to hear all kinds of embellishments... I heard where someone stated that Donnie Sumner was in Florida taking a few days off when he heard it.. They were all gathering the day before the concert to go to Maine so that is not true either.. Everybody that lived in Nashville including, Bobby, JD, Ed Enoch, the other Stamps members and the rest were waiting on the airplane..

    • @justdea5757
      @justdea5757 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Billy, I understand what you are saying and know about the scheduled concert in Portland, Maine...but this is not the story J.D. Sumner told. If you watch the video you will know what I mean. I may not be explaining this to you very well. But it doesn't really matter. People say what they want even when it's not the truth is all I am saying. Thanks for responding.

      Thank You Jeremy, You are right.. According to his site he left in August of 1976.. According to the Stamps site he left in 1974.. So who knows what the truth is there.. I do have an interview with Donnie coming up so I'll find out for sure but you know how those things go.. He lives in my town and we have several mutual friends.. Thanks for the heads up..

    When Mr Ogdin & group were notified that Elvis died so go home from the airport I thought he would of said JD went into an emotional state of "Oh no no can not be..." He kinda just said they talked abit & went home. I guess it was just so shocking the band members just kinda just frozen up emotionally & the reality of it all took days & weeks to really accept the fact. Think that's why some today still want to believe Elvis faked his death & is alive on the earth somewhere. They just cannot accept he would die at 42 yrs old.

      Just look at the timing of that story.. The Searcher is coming out this coming weekend and they release that trash just before.. This proves that Priscilla is willing to sell out his reputation for watchers of the new special.. She cares nothing about Elvis she cares about money.. There is no evidence that he killed himself... Don't believe any of that crap!!

      Spa Guy yes it's extremely sad that after all these years and she would try to sabotage his reputation like most of the haters Priscilla Presley can only live in the shadow of Elvis why didn't she give him all this attention while he was still alive?
      A lot of those prescription drugs were for the Memphis Mafia they were placed in Elvis's name
      JD Sumner gave an amazing interview in fact he received the phone call that the show was going to be cancelled that night JD was asked by Vernon to make all the funeral arrangements he was an outstanding man

    He talking about quickening but the 50 was like that to the 60s got more processed in sound more like vestiges of noise and poetry by the 70s it became clear healing. In sound that's why elvis rose higher than before he was a healer an angel of the rock n roll level the comies in the 50s called it the devil's music it was the devil's demise music cause rock n roll healed the soul of the 7 deadly sins elvis buddy jerry Lee and Chuck berry all were the leaders thing is it was potent music like medicine and some could not handle it remember as Iggy says it was for over from Blues but Blues that was chit Lin Circuit and all the southern rockers came from this basicly from little Richard to Alice Cooper and to mudvayne it's really not music it's more like magic in the 80s it became pushed and in the 90s alt and now we see a resurgence rock will never die it can't it comes from God.
