One of the most honest reviews of a 4x4 I have seen in a long time. Most reviews talk about how good their setup is (which is what I expected when I clicked on this) but was pretty surprised when Shaun started ruling out stereotypical setups. The 79 series being under powered from factory, the gear ratios being inconvenient, the clutch being weak, the uncomfortable seats, "the worst sound system after the late T-ford", and a "centre console that you can't even rest your arm on".. Still a beautiful vehicle..
I'd love to see you guys do a video on the best capable factory 4x4 for overlanding.. For those of us that can only afford tires and a rooftop tent and our camping accessories... Or factory engine at least.. I'd love Grahams opinion because he always proves that smaller can still be VERY capable.
You boys are the best! Travelling around Europe watching your vids. Missus had a watch for a minute without knowing what it was. And now she is hooked and is not the outdoor type!
Shauno... absolute stunner of a vehicle.. love the vids detailing the different configurations of each vehicle for each specific purpose. Would love to see a 4wd Action trivia game showcasing some of your favourite tracks with multiple choice questions on what would you do how would you do it.
Love the video about your setup. Really like seeing everything your running and how it's setup. Definitely have me a few ideas for my rig. You guys should do a detailed video like this for Shorty and the D-Max and the Dirty 30 when it gets done also. Thanks mate have a good one!
Great to see you mentioned dusting the engine because the air box does not seal. same with my 2015 Ranger. The genuine ford air filter element is not tall enough to create a good seal, pack some cardboard under filter and problem fixed. I noticed fine very fine dusting in the air intake pipe after a very dusty trip.
Literally the best and honest description and practical 79 set up I've seen. Although he forgot to mention the rear wheel track issue. At the end of the day these rigs are for people with disposable incomes or people in positions like Shauno who can write em off on tax and have friends in the industry to afford the mods needed to make them practical. If you are the kind of person that is just scraping to afford one, they are a serious money pit/divorcee maker. Side note, Shauno is such a top bloke and definitely living his dream life.

I missed that part. Usually I camp pretty basic... most of my camp gear goes in a space case and I carry that in the tray. I do have a Clearview pantry that I want to put in a removable and waterproof box.
Great set up Shuano, your 79 is a work of art mate. I'm just a normal kind of guy with an older type of vehicle (PA coil Challenger) that I would love nothing better than to modify into a tourer. Can you guys, through all your contacts give some advice or promote suppliers who can do the mods I and many of us need to be competitive with the more modern Rigs you guys have access to?. Budget is a huge problem and to many a game changer. Thanks in advance mate. Wish you and all the crew the best.
Shauno! You need to get show to buy u a big ol RAM! Love the show! Great JOB and keep it up mate! Cheers from USA! Have to import you one year and do MOAB in UTAH!
RAM'S ARE THE SHITTEST THING EVER INVENTED
My friend, I have an almost identical vehicle in Mozambique. In Mozambique we call it toyota hz. my vehicle has 17 wheels, double cab, 4.2 diesel engine. I have to agree and agree to mud lands there will never be a better vehicle. I'm sorry for the bad translation, I'm a Portuguese speaker.
