    you all would have a great time building an off-roader in USA there is no where near the restrictions here on them as you guys have..a few years ago my daily driver was a 1986 ford f150 4x4 lifted 13 inches on 40inch tires..many times the police around my area would drive by me looking at the truck and give me a thumbs up..once a state trooper pulled me over just so he could look at the truck and admire it ...love the videos keep them coming.

    Who can afford 12 mods after buying a 200? :(

    • @4WD247
      @4WD247  4 ปีที่แล้ว +96

      Some people can - but the MAJOR point here is these tips and mods are relevant to ALL 4WDs - from 200s and 79s down to $3,000 GQ patrols

    • @Hazardbone
      @Hazardbone 4 ปีที่แล้ว +101

    • @stavio12

      @@4WD247 You said it...SOME. I just came back from a Vic high country trip and all I saw was Older model patrols and LC's, Prados, Pajeros Hiluxes and Navaras with one Y62 and one 200. We did the Billy Goat Bluff track and surrounds. Your're not actually targetting a wider audience here who have older models vehicles. Most of the newer model 4WD that you see are on youtube channels like yourself, Ronny Dahl, Australian 4x4 adventures and All 4 adventures. We'll watch your vids no doubt, but how about catering for the masses. Brand new 200 with 12 mods, yeah that's your everyday aussie 4WDriver/camper not to mention probably majority of your subscribers.

    • @wheeman999
      @wheeman999 4 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      $100k on a 200
      $3k on rims and tyres
      $2k on suspension lift
      $500 on diff drop
      $1k for snorkel and custom air box
      $4k on bar work
      $1k on winch ( depending what they got could be $3k )
      $2k on lights
      $2k on exhaust
      $2k on chip/tune
      $500 on UHF
      $3k on fridge/drawers
      $3k on engineering cert.
      So, a good $130k give or take for this sort of setup not including ANY fitting costs or the cost of that custom wrap job.
      That's not too bad, actually.

    Also wasn't in the video when you lift the suspension you may need go increase brake line lengths and when carrying out the wheel alignment make sure this is done after all your accessories are fitted as load with affect your wheel alignment so you want to generally make sure you do a wheel alignment with your default load and full tank of fuel.

    No idea why some people are being so toxic over the cost of this build. I mean let’s be real, no matter the age or model of 4wd the mods will all cost the same roughly, 4wding is an expensive hobby whether people like it or not, some people have more money then others so why trash talk someone who can afford something more expensive. As long as you’re getting out on the track in a forbie you love then what’s the problem

    Also suspension is 1/2 the price of a bar
    Cheers guys

    Mate, how much is a Cruiser like this one over there? Here in the states is about $85K new.. Hard to believe you would spend double that amount to accessorize the rig.

    Love how engineering was given a mention! Way too many illegal 4wds getting around and taking the risk (not from getting caught by police) but quite possible jail time in event of accidents and let's hope no one gets killed because of it, let the engineers determine what is safe!
    Also something to mention with 12volt setups is the Alternator specs. I am not aware of what is actually in the 200 series but many smaller 4x4s like dual cabs can easily fry alternators when running lots of power hungry accessories such as extra lights and charging accessories like DCDC chargers, especially when all ran at the same time.
    Regards,
    Biomedical, Electrical and Electronic Engineer.

    i like the under body cover stuff... i have a doubt regd..the Stephany wheel position.. cause its a 35" wheel moving it to the rear right corner might damage the bearing of the rear right wheel due to excess weight (weight imbalance) in long run.. i feel it should positioned properly in the middle after that we have to plan for jerry cans...

    Great video guys. Maybe put text info alongside each section of part additions info, with price ranges. I’m from UK so have to find alternative parts and decent engineers who know how to fit without to my needs and need reference points. Great all round vid guys

    Really enjoyed this video, we are currently saving for a 2014'ish Prado, because we need the extra seat over my Camry, for obvious reasons lol. So this was a good guide, children want to go out and about more.
    But was curious if you could do a video on building one to go out for a few days/week, while having 6 of the 7 seats used lol. This build is good for two, not so good for families.
    Anyway another awesome video.

      For seven seats you will need to plan around trailer.

    I’m surprised GVM wasn’t mentioned especially on a 200 series time you upgrade tyres put a front bar on a roof rack your almost over GVM

    • @SparesboxAuto
      @SparesboxAuto 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually upgraded the GVM prior to fitting all the parts as we know how important for safety and legality vehicle weights can be!

    Nice new Sparebox 4x4. Hope the 80 series is still kicking.....FYI FLASH20 doesn't work on most of the items on that new Sparesbox 200 series. i.e. Stedi Lights, RedArc, Rival Bash Plates....sigh. Was hoping there would be big savings to be had... :D

    I saw a couple of built 200 series on the trails a couple of weeks ago...
    Have to say, they used their winch more than everyone else combined...
    They are just too big and too heavy, to make this capable at all, you would have to be running 40s or 42s...

    • @agentcrm
      @agentcrm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have a look at a specs sheet.
      Yes there's about 100kg more compared to a 100 series.
      BUT dimensionally they're very close. Wheelbase is the same and track is about 2cm wider on the 200.
      Possibly driver skill / not wanting to break thing playing a bigger factor.

    • @SparesboxAuto
      @SparesboxAuto 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no denying they're a heavy beast but we put our 200 to the test up against some much lighter, and much tougher rigs and managed to tackle similar tracks! Just depends who you have behind the wheel! ;)

    Clear explanation, like it. I do focus on what parts to upgrade (rule out the 200 series, brand of the mods, price list). Cause many mods out there miss the crutial part, such as diff breather. Good work. Anw, do u guys hv a mods guidance to a Suzuki SJ410? Id like to mods my SJ410 to an overland rig 😁

    Great Video guys! Following from Germany, got an 06 Hulix.
    Was just wondering all the time how much all these mods were. Here in Germany all the 4wd parts are way more expensive than what I remember from my time in OZ... Y60 back then😃...
    Love your channel, makes me fell like in OZ and motivates me again and again to get my Hilux dirty😎😎💪🏻
    Thx
