How to Remove Bing from Windows 11 Start, Search, Taskbar and Microsoft Edge

- If you want to remove Bing from your Windows 11 Desktop, Taskbar, Start Menu, Search, and from Microsoft Edge Web Browser then this video is exactly what you need. Let's live on the Edge. Um, no. I mean without it.

I've had a few people tell me that they cannot see Google as a list of Search Engines to add. Firstly, if your PC is a work one and part of a corporate domain, you may find it's restricted by Group Policy and there's little you can do apart from beg your Admin to change it. If however it's your own personal PC, try this...
Click "Manage search engines"
Click "Add"
In the Search Engine Field, type:
Google
In the Shortcut field, type:
google.com
In the URL with %s in place of query field, paste the following:
{google:baseURL}search?q=%s&{google:RLZ}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}{google:assistedQueryStats}{google:searchboxStats}{google:searchFieldtrialParameter}{google:iOSSearchLanguage}{google:prefetchSource}{google:searchClient}{google:sourceId}{google:contextualSearchVersion}ie={inputEncoding}
Click Save. There's an icon to the right of your new Google entry with 3 dots ... click that and choose "Make Default".
However Google should now appear in the drop-down list for you to select.
For the Microsoft Edge > Bing logo at the top right.
Which you used Registry edits for.
You no longer have to do that. It's in the Edge Settings now.
I did it this morning. (Sidebar tab) I think.
For others, the more you know NOW!
I have always used Mazilla Firefox personally

You have no idea how grateful I am for this video. I hate Bing with all my heart mostly because is forced upon us, very annoying. The more they want to force us to do something, the less we will do it, don't they know that in Microsoft? They probably need new or old psychology... the old saying, "you attract more with honey...'" something like that. One day all tech videos will be as amazing as this one. I bought a new laptop for my 80-year old mother and Windows 11 with its Edge and Bing nonsense almost had me throwing the machine out of a window. Shame on you Microsoft for making these changes so damn difficult for the average user.

If I want my PC to keep all the tabs open I used before (Browser: Firefox; Search Engine: DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials) after restarting -- what do I need to pay attention to or rather what are my settings? Sorry for being so oddly specific, but I may have made a small mistake while removing CoPilot (it's removed permanently thanks to another of your videos) and I started Firefox with one tab (vs. 40+ before). 😥
I finally successfully removed Bing but I wanted everyone to know that (apparently) the Windows 11 on my computer in the U.S. didn't mirror the file (drop-down) organization in your video, which I assume was bought in the U.K. I found your strategy spot-on but I had to search around to find the exact settings I needed to change. My 5 year old machine hasn't been this spry in ages -- thank you!

This is a great video and helped me out tremendously. The only thing that was an issue for me was I had to stop and back up the video many many times. Most people can't follow instructions as fast as you can talk so your content is wonderful but just please slow down and give everybody a chance to follow your instructions.

Normally tutorials are always different from what I have on my laptop but this literally worked every step of the process! Thanks! Bing is the worst.

@@TLTechLife Yikes, I turned my computer back on and the search bar at the bottom opens with Edge that damned Bing again! What did I do wrong? Everything I check in settings says Google is my default, yet there it is - I absolutely hate BING! I want every aspect of it gone.

Im actually studying for CompTIA core 2 right now. I really needed bing out of the way of the search bar as I'm actually using it to find programs in the actual computer. I had already removed Safeboot and installed Google as my default. I can't wait to show everyone in class your video!

Thanks for the hard work of cutting through all the clutter that's out there which doesn't achieve the objective which your concise video does. I was beginning to think that Bing was inextricable from my computer. I had already deleted it from my basic settings and placed google in its place, yet it "still" kept showing up (whether I liked it or not). Now you've broken through microsoft's dictatorship and showed us how to extract Bing permanently. Thanks a many millions.

Installing Windows 11 on to a new disk, getting rid of Edge browser and Bing is a pain in the ass!

Thanks a lot. It helped me to change the default browser on my search task bar from Bing to Google. It is very easy to understand and follow. But I have a little problem. When I search on Edge, I can still see the Bing logo on the top right corner even I put the HubsSidebarEnabled and it never show up under MS Edge Policies after I click the Reload Policies.

Have tried numerous different suggested solutions but have often stumbled because the procedure didn't match the dialogue or what I see on screen due to slightly different versions of windows/edge/bing/whatever. Well done!.I used to disable Edge, now I do not ever use it I let it rot there just use another browser as my default one.I will use this method in the future if required.

Excellent video, thanks !! However the last step did not work for me. Still seeing the Bing sidebar in Edge. Not a big deal as I don't use Edge, but I just hate seeing Bing anywhere at all 🙂 More annoyingly, the Start menu still uses Bing as search engine and shows a Bing logo to enable AI search.

Thanks for the direct and concise approach to this pain. However, after carefully following your directions, when I open 'Change Screen Saver' from the 'Search Box' it is opening with a full page of 'Bing' instead of the nice little 'Change Screen Saver' box with the options on the Desktop. Update: now GONE! Don't know why the delay, but thanks again!

I was so happy when I found this and I followed instructions to the letter on my new Acer Laptop with windows 11 but Bing is right back in there. The first section when you say we removed Bing from the start search and the top search, I don't see bing, but when I search it's a bing search.

This is awesome and I was following along frantically... At the 5:00 mark, my HubSidebarEnabled policy shows on the Policy Page with "Error" in the status column. The error is "Unknown Policy"
