Hi yes there is , plenty of free apps online , you just tap in 1/2 span of building , the pitch you need and the app will work out your rafter lengths for you , there is an app for everything now 😀
Dont forget you are cut and measuring to center lines on roof plan view. Your hips will be out of plane with the roof line unless you deduct the depth of the angle drawn on the plum cut top center line and squared across .on a 45 degree roof its three eights . We used to get over that bt doing a combination splay cut on back of hip ..but the drop method is better. Dont believe me look it up ...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi James Thanks for your comment , glad you enjoyed the video . I designed the Tri mark for simplicity so that any one could understand how to use it ,
Excellent mate, love the no-nonsense hip tip. I scribe my hips in but like your method.
Cheers 👍

Brilliant video👍
Thanks , hopefully more roof carpentry stuff coming soon !!
If the hip plumb is 26* the seat cut should be 64* (=90*) and not 74 as I said during the video . Silly old git as my misses would say 🤔
Great video. What’s that pencil you are using??
It’s called a pica pencil 👍
Noisy background noises
Where can I buy the tri mark
Hi mate
You buy it from ebay , under adjustable roofing squares 👍
Can you do a shed roof that way without joists - strong enough the way it is
I actually sold the demo roof to someone who was building a shed ,so should be fine 👍
Sure would like to purchase one of those squares, are they available?
Hi Ron , yes the Tri mark square is available , where are you based
its looks beautiful this square
Good video nicely explained, is the Tri mark your own invention or just preferred method.
