    Hello, I am almost at the end of the book and everything seems really clear and well explained, in the book and in your video too. I have a question, with regards to team formation. Let's assume that we would like to form a team from 4 - 6 people, is it necessary (more efficient in a good way) for the team to have, from each type of personality, like 1 Red, 1 Green ... (of course, not everyone is pure one colour, but most people vary between 1 or 2 colours) or what is the best distribution of the characters? What is the best way to form a team (to combine which colours)? Thank you in advance! :)

    • @rodyhaije69
      @rodyhaije69  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It depends of the type of project or niece that you are in. The classic banking industry is very conservative so greens and blues are very dominant there with a red as manager. A start-up needs a great network, energy and action with yellows, reds and a maybe a few blues for the details. When there is a working system greens come in to act out the system.

    • @rodyhaije69
      @rodyhaije69  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the industry that you are in.
      In a sales environment yellow and red people are great to have. Where a more technical profession like programming is blue more useful. When it's just about simple labor and compliance is necessary green would be great.
      Red can cause tension, where yellow often create chaos, blue makes it too serious and green is a bit boring/doll.
      I hope that you have a better understanding of the pros and cons now.

    All of Thomas Eriksons books are completely unscientific. He bases this particular book on a personality model from the 1920's that never had any actual support. Using this book to categorize people is essentially the same as using a horoscope.

    • @rodyhaije69
      @rodyhaije69  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think is not based essentially on science. It's based on experience and interpretation. Which can be useful and practical. If something the book is practical, it doesn't need to be scientifically proven in my opinion.

    Something I always find interesting and this book does as well: The over simplification of the difference between managers and leaders.
    I differentiate them usually with the following:
    Leaders are creating paths which might be unpaved, but they provide a direction and perspective.
    Managers are paving the already created path and make sure that maintenance is done accordingly.
    (Let's in this case leave out the difference between hierarchal and egalitarian (business) cultures).
    So I do disagree with the statement made at 1:30 about Red persons. However, I am still an undergraduate so I am curious to hear any nuances/insights on my vision

    • @rodyhaije69
      @rodyhaije69  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for your comment.
      I do agree that it's a simplification of personality.
      I do want to say that managers are sometimes perceived as negative. Where leaders have a positive light on themselves.
      Ironically leaders are often also the ones who make the biggest mistakes.
      They are cheered when they make the right decision of course. Noticed that many people want to be a leader when everything goes well. In this times now, it's interesting to see that few want to take responsibility.
      I like what you said about the differentiation.
      The comment made at 1.30 is referring the character of the red who isn't so much influenced by the emotions of humans (like firing people, cutting cost, doubling down on projects or being in debt) and this makes them capable to lead on crisis situations.
      Reds are doers and motivate people to take action when it gets tough. Many people can lead when the numbers are green.
      I'm looking forward to your response.
      The best,
      Rody

      Classification in discrete sections will always come with the problems of over simplification, no one is 100% a certain colour, we likely have a certain share in each colour, but for this book (if you are wondering) it is appropriate to select the most dominant colour (thus, with the highest share is your colour).

    So the two extraverted categories make good managers, and the two introverted categories make good employees!!!! Huge misconception, it's 2020 and everyone should know that's not true by now.

      Hi Shurooq, thanks for your opinion. I didn't say that extravert people are good managers. Reds are more likely to become managers because of their inner drive to compete. This information shouldn't be discouraging to the belief who can become a manager. The way to look at it should give you insight how to deal with people and make a well functioning (project) team in which each colour is needed to ideally succeed.

      Categorizing behaviors after 18 years of experience. Is arguably scientific or not. There is a difference in basic science called scientific theories and applied science. Where applied science is made through experience and solving problems

      I didn't wrote the book @B0omer96 What I did share was a summary with the information from the book. The 18 years of experience are from the writer self not from me.

      Haha, I love your comment because, this says soo much more about you sitting behind your screen typing passive aggressively towards me. Apparently the video didn’t make sense to you. I think it’s going to be very hard to make an animation simpler than this video. That’s a pity for you than. Sorry

    This type of 6 year old understanding of personality is belittling to me as a viewer and anyone I might abuse with this crude tool.

      Thank you, I'm glad you understood the information. My job is to make complicated ideas simple for people to understand. If you think I missed any of the crucial information in the book, let me know in the comments.
