I wanted to ask her such a question, blushed before I could even say a word and started to brabble that my ears get red and she smiled and said:
      „It‘s kinda cute.
What did you want to ask?“ 😏
Then I asked if she could imagine to be with someone.
      I immediately got a „Yes.“
And later on she looked at me with sparkly eyes. 🥰

This is what worried me about the dog vs chinchilla example, where the assumption was that you didn't want a dog and really wanted the chinchilla. What happens when you ask for something big that you don't want and then are granted it? you can't follow that up with then asking for what you actually wanted.
Except in the cases like the following example involving money :) need $20, ask for $50.. get $50.. problem solved. (but it could backfire if you ask for $50, get denied, then ask for $20 instead.. they could start to get annoyed with you as it feels like begging.)

In Pavlov's experiment, he noticed that dogs drool when they see food, so he started ringing a bell every time before giving them food. After a while, these dogs started drooling just by hearing the bell, even if there was no food. The food wasn’t the point nor was the salivation, it was about creating the association between an unrelated object an a conditioned response.
All the same, thanks for this video. It will help a lot of people.

Heh, I randomly did the imagining trick when I was in my late teens.
I realized at one point that I was depressing myself by wishing for things (mostly attention from others) I didn't have. One day when I lost someone dear to me I noticed that I wasn't feeling any differently from when I didn't get attention and that was the most disgusting I've ever felt with myself. It felt so similar to what I'd been making myself feel that it seemed to diminish the worth of the loss I'd suffered, effectively insulting the memories of the one I cared for.
So I started telling myself I was not allowed to mourn things I simply wanted and should be looking at things I have instead, so I can value them more and mourn only when it's appropriate. Every time I catch myself feeling envious or left out when I can't actively change it, I give myself a mental kick and go "Nope, you haven't lost anything, stop it."
It's made me happier, outwardly more friendly which makes things better for everyone and taught me some introspection that helped me avoid bad things I otherwise wouldn't have noticed if I kept focusing so much on things outside my control.
I now only mourn when it actually matters.

00:31 🗣️ *Using someone's name mid-conversation grabs their attention and adds charisma to your regular conversations.*
01:58 🤲 *Handing someone something while in mid-conversation can make them more likely to accept it, even if it's unrelated to the conversation.*
02:56 🍬 *Chewing gum during study sessions and the exam, following the Pavlovian Theory, may help associate the gum flavor with the studied information and improve memory during the test.*
03:53 🧠 *Use cognitive dissonance to align your mindset with the person you want to become, helping you change behaviors and achieve goals.*
05:20 🚪 *Ask for a big favor first, then change it to a smaller one (door-in-the-face technique) to increase the likelihood of the person agreeing to the smaller favor.*
06:49 😴 *People are more likely to agree to something they initially didn't want to do when they're tired or exhausted.*
07:18 🦎 *Mirroring others' movements and gestures (Chameleon Effect) can make them more open to getting to know you, potentially helping you make friends.*
08:17 🤔 *Nodding your head while discussing a point increases the likelihood of someone agreeing with you, according to a 1980s study in Applied Psychology.*

@@imzomniax nah I disagree. Depression isn't just as you see it daily as being down and ruminating thoughts sometimes its alot more than that depression can actually cause phycosis/catatonia. You can't think yourself out of that so easily I'm afraid - your hardly even present really. Your comment is only from your experience which could have been very minor compared to others. Obviously you are important and your mental health at any state is important and no less than others but Its definatly a case by case basis and not one blanket statement for all. I'd recommend some research on a deeper/darker depression before commenting invalidating things on a mental health advocate page where there are so many suffering with depression reading your comment wondering why "choosing happy" didn't work. What you have yourself there is "Toxic positivity" it's a comment seemingly positive but actually not helpful and invalidating.

The only problem I have is with the first one, because parents would use your name to get your attention then scold you and then there are some friends that do the same thing when they dissaprove of what you're doing/saying so saying your name in itself is a manipulative tactic to get you to respond, if I am interested in what you're saying I'll give you my attention if not saying my name won't get my attention in fact it has the opposite effect because of my experiences, I will simply leave the conversation until the person is willing to have a civil conversation without the condescending tone.

Funny trick thats especially usefull when you're walking busy streets: Looking at the ground in the direction you're walking in front of you, the people walking in your direction will subconsiciously notice and will move out of the line between you and the spot you're looking at. It even works for pretty far away distances. Often looking at the ground right in between two people walking next to eachother even splits them up until you've passed them :').

Hmm, apparently gum helps you stay alert while driving too. There's a host of benefits, and they're mostly centered around blood flow and metabolism in the area near the brain. Most of our body's responses are a bit generalized (they are a bit diffuse in accuracy), so working your jaw muscles helps your brain.
As far as section 5 goes, I do love projecting a future self and trying to beat that. My idea of fighting cognitive dissonance is not exactly being in line with my future self, but more like being centered between thought, speech, and action.
Section 6 is, of course, the step-down method of persuasion (Face-in-the-door technique as it's labeled here). Ask for something large then something small;or something different first, then something that you want. Some would even call it manipulation because it works so often. I accidentally do it sometimes even if I'm not aware of it, and it's sometimes unfair. I do like watching these to examine myself.
The next section is a plague upon our minds; Decision fatigue is the greatest problem we face as humanity. The ability to make proper decisions all of the time is difficult in the extreme. All reflexes get tired over time, it is no different with our judgment.
The last one... Yeah action mimicry.

I get annoyed if someone repeats my name too often in conversation. It makes me think of the trick you use in customer service when trying to de-escalate a customer or when you're trying to talk them into buying something. It's an attempt at making them feel special and like you're treating them as an individual the way some newsletter emails put your name in the greeting instead of some generic "dear subscriber" greeting. I've used it at different jobs and it works plenty of times so I'm already in tune to it being used as a tactic.
