    Wow, you are doing some cool stuff. I am motivated to comment though with criticism. As a Mechanical Engineer, I don't like to see the top of the airbag squished on one side due to the pivoting arm. I think you should have a hinged plate at the top to keep the airbag top horizontal while the arm tilts. The airbags will last a lot longer. Just my humble opinion!

    • @HardCoreFab
      @HardCoreFab  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! A hinged plate at the top would definitely be a better design but the the gain in life span VS the amount of work to build it isn't worth it to me.

      @@HardCoreFab the life span of the bag will significantly be decreased while being stressed like that under load and constant fluctuations in road conditions. All the time put into fabricating arms, yet no time to fabricate smooth reliable function. Bit contradictory in my opinion. Please rethink the cringy working angles.

    Hey Tony
    You do some really nice work.
    Taking time to show the assembly of the cantilever arms should be helping others to do a better job on their own work.
    paying attention to detales like that makes all the differance in a hot rod or a hack rod !
    Taking pride in your ride starts with design and carries through in every step of the build.
    As you mentioned, even the grit of the flap disc makes for a better finish and shows your pride in craftsmanship.

    😡 where was this at back in March? I got my settlement and spent $18G’s for the damnedest fricken work.. looks like my frame was jig saw puzzled by a 4x4 frame turned to 2 wheel drive long story big heart ache.... my son has seen pics of my previous builds when I was physically capable of working on my own rides... he just graduated high school and someone Did A look back in time article in the year book which happen to show my 59 bug and my 89 S10 when I attended the same HS. So all my son wants for graduating and since he turned 18 was for his dad to do one more Cali style truck.! But things have drastically changed since 1989.. but anyway the point is I would of loved to have a chassis built by you guys... I love that style of work.. anyway man keep

    Looks like you are on your way to another great build on them air bags tho by angling that way when they are inflated doesn’t that put a lot of stress on one side of the bag compared to them going up and down evenly witch might cause premature ware I’d like to know but overall great build so far and when are we going to see you driving the other one you just finished

    • @HardCoreFab
      @HardCoreFab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In normal conditions they will rarely see angles like that so I'm not overly concerned. Old crow still needs some more work I just couldn't put off starting this build any longer. I am on a big time crunch with it. Connor has been working on it here and there some maybe they will be driving about the same time.

  • @manfordman9112

    Thanks for all the detailed suspension build videos! I'm learning a lot. What do you recommend for line size going to the bags? Also do you use manual paddle valves or do you go full electric controls? I'm thinking about a 4 channel manual valve setup in the cab just for simplicity of wiring.

    • @HardCoreFab
      @HardCoreFab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Line size really just depends on how fast you want it to go up and down. I'm going to use 3/8. I have a manual set up for Old Crow but I haven't made up my mine on Hookers and Blow yet.

    I think the airbags should be sitting even and level whe at ride height, the curve is very severe when above ride height. I think you are also going to need a track bar as the side load from corners is going to be a lot of side pressure on the bushes other than that great work.

    • @HardCoreFab
      @HardCoreFab  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The angle of the bags is perfectly acceptable per the manufacture and this build is going on 3 year and no troubles. You are right I added a track bar in a video after that

  • @MrKingdavis13
    @MrKingdavis13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think I would modify the top are to have a pivot so the bag isn't being bent like that and it can stay straight through the travel. It would only take a few more cuts and welds and I personally think it would make it look a lot more professional and planned out. Imagine seeing a Peterbuilt rolling down the road with crooked bags, everyone would be trying to flag the driver down thinking the truck was falling apart. LMAO

    I don't know you how to reduce the torque on each wheel when the car is running. because if you do it like yours, the two front or two rear tires go up and down together, but it is not independent.

      I'm not sure I understand the question but I think what you're getting at is the T in the airlines? If that's the case this is just to allow airbags to be shown working in the video they will not be plumbed that way on the truck when it's finished

    Buen diseño y todo pero las bolsas se lastiman mucho por ende durarían menos.si no se lastimaran tanto quedaría perfecto. Es mi umilde opinión
