    Azura is my favourite Daedric Prince for various reason: from her themes of dusk and dawn to her beautiful plane of Oblivion as well as her history with the Dunmer who are my favourite race.

      +4Fun Only vivec shove muatra (vivec metaphorical and/or literal spear cock/vagina) in azuras mouth. basically, vivec sexually assaulted azura, and she exploded as a result.

    Question of the Week: The old fable in this episode may suggest the disappearance of the Dwarves can be, in part, attributed to Azura. Although this story has been written off as a myth by most lore scholars, do you think it's possible the Daedra had a hand in the disappearance of the Dwemer? If not, why do you think they disappeared?

    • @Michael-ol8he
      @Michael-ol8he 10 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      I'm not sure why they disappeared but I have a theory that they vanished to the two moons since they tapped into lorkans heart and the two moons are lorkans body. Also the khajiit worship the moons, maybe that's because the dwarves lived there. I also believe that the high elvs will vanish like the dwarves since they are trying to become immortal by stopping the spread of talons etc.

      I believe it was because of Kagrunak's tools, (sorry for any misspellings) which when the tool hit the heart of Lorkhan, it tore the Dwemmer from the mortal plane of Nirn. Perhaps a new TES game could revolve around the reemergence of the Dwemmer?????

You´re work is incredibly awesome, both entertaining and teaching us more about the TES lore. Since I started watching your videos I´ve learned so much about TES, and having been a TES fan for many years I always thought I knew a big chunk of all the lore. Your amazing videos have really proven me wrong, and they have, and still are, building on my interest and knowledge of TES. Again, thank you ShoddyCast for making such incredible videos! I believe the dwemer used the heart and tools to either 1. Vibrate at a different frequency and created/went to a realm of their own or 2. used the heart to travel to the moons, which are also part of lorkhan or 3. Because of 'the calling' they learned too much, and perished much like raiders of the lost ark.

    According to The Battle of Red Mountain, Azura never cursed the Chimer into Dark elves.
    That curse occured due to the actions of the tribunal when they fiddled with the Heart of Lorkhan.

    Azura is good or bad. One race may view it one way, but another may see it differently. Azura graciously rewards the people who carry out her will, and worship her, but those who defy her name, and make her mad, are punished. Severely. Her motives can be questionable at times, but I believe she is the closest to "good" that a Daedra can ever get.

      i'm pretty sure it's beauty, hence her affinity for sunsets and roses, and why she punished the chimer by making them ugly

      bear in mind that the daedra don't have any particular influence over their spheres since they aren't aedra; azura just happens to like beauty so a lot of what she does involves beauty

    Kyle and Josh, Love this series, but one thing has been bugging me for some time, the pronunciation of "Chimer" I have heard both Josh and voice-over guy pronounce it as "Chim-mer" and "Chai-mer" but it is actually pronounced "Kai-mer" as evidenced in the games. It's a bit like the greek word "Chimera" pronounced "Kai-mera". Apart from that, this is an awesome series, and I do not intend to discourage you in any way, but because this is the best elder scrolls lore series out there, I thought it was important to mention. keep up the great work shoddy team.

    One note, I believe the interpretation of Azura and the Box is a bit off. Daedra are only able to enter Mundus via to the power that mortals give them through faith or acknowledgement of their power.
    The sage didn't fool Azura. He fooled the priest.

    fun fact: the black star is better than azura's star as black soul gems can trap ANY soul(humans,giants,etc) regular soul gems can't do that, take the black star or else you'll regret it.

    • @TuberoseKisser
      @TuberoseKisser 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** for gameplay reasons the black star is better if you want better enchantments, if you go without the black star then you have to find and spend gold on black soul gems to hold the grand souls.

    • @MidnightShamalan
      @MidnightShamalan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MoonMoonFang
      i understand that for gameplay reasons, the black star is technically the 'smarter' choice for enchanters. but regret not choosing it? no. i don't think so. you get to a point in the game where you're finding black soul gems more often than you're using black souls, pretty much rendering it a curiosity more than a useful artifact. not to mention, you have to go out and refill it every time you use it.
      azura's star in either form is more of a nuisance than anything. cool in theory, annoying in practice.
      i'll stick to not pissing off a daedric prince with the power to change the form of an entire race, thank you.

    can't wait for the old herma-mora video, he's the one compeatly nutural daedra out there all sort of lean to either good or evil because of the sphere of power. but he is just a knowledge keeper and just wants more knowledge and punishes those who stop him from doing that and rewards those how help him. he also has the mystory charm about him.

    I originally misunderstood the meaning of something mentioned in the beginning, it's not that Azura is rage filled and spiteful or purely a kindly mother figure, she is both. She alternates between these two extremes such as they are like her spheres, the all encompassing and all knowing subtle magic of the in between places.

    actually the way I understood it when i read the book was that the real intentions of the wise dwemer is to fool the chimer into believing that azura is not all knowing and not tricking azura herself.. the way he did it was to bring the empty box and hide the flower in his sleeves so if she said its empty then he drops the flower swiftly from his sleeve into the box, and when she says there is a flower he keeps the flower in his sleeve.. the whole point was to prove to the chimer that dwemer beliefs are legit.

    Love all these videos you've done on the elder scrolls lore. This one is my favourite purely because azura is the best 'god'.

    Mephala at the end there looks very attractive. With a face like that, it's no wonder the Nightshade flower is needed to do her quest in Oblivion.

    In the Elder Scrolls Online, Azura has you do a quest that involves saving one of her most beloved priestesses (Culanwe) from eternal torture caused by Molag Bal. Maybe she is not good, but I don't see her as bad either. This quest shows just how much she can care for others.

    Part 5 of my daedra quests
    *Azura's realm*
    Part 1: find the reclusive dark elf temple
    Part 2: Complete small tasks and quests to gain access to the temple and the interest of Azura
    Part 3: Pray in the temple to gain acces to Moonshadow
    Free roam time!
    A few quests could be given to this area.
    and 1 main one which seeks you finding Azura's star.

      ***** It's pretty much just speculation at this point. I'm guessing that based on the past dates of TES releases, we won't even get a teaser for TES6 until at the earliest late 2015, and even that would be very early. I have mixed feelings about what's happening next, they will likely release Fallout 4 next (E3's tomorrow!) and I'm not sure whether to be happy or disappointed.

    Would have liked to see a little more on how Azura led and blessed the Nerevarine leading to the liberation the Dunmer by ending the Almsivi and the curse of Dagoth Ur that came into being with them.
    You dedicated more than two of ten minutes on Dwemer lore and their experiment that deals with the nature of the Daedra but hasn't much to do with Azura in particular. The myths of their disappearance could best be covered in a separate video (mentioning the role of Kagrenac's tools in these events). A bit disappointing you stuffed that into the episode on Azura, but good video nonetheless.
