Anyone else feel Bethesda should turn this series into a dvd and package it with the next Elder Scrolls game? Seriously, I watch this and I feel like I'm watching the History Channel.
So Wolf Queen Potema is basically a demented mix of Cersei Lannister and Adolf Hitler, with daedra worship and necromancy. Yeah, sounds like such a nice lady.
All humans also enslave their own kind. Don't talk as if Tiber Septim was some innocent god sent prophet of mankind who did on;y good stuff. He didn't mind sending his own people as slaves either. He exchanged slaves with the Dunmers as well. Ever seen the racism of the Nords as well? While they did slaughter all the snow elves, the rest of the elven folk who didn't attack them first don't deserve that treatment. The Wood elves and the Orcs are much better than most of the humans. Wood Elves serve a pact which lets them stay peacefully in Valenwood in return for not harming the plant life and cleaning up whatever they kill by eather consuming it within 3 days or using the bones and fur of their kill as weapons. Therefore, they have to eat their brethren if they misfire and kill them unless all the wood elves are thrown out of Valenwood and don't get me started on the mistreatment suffered by Orcs by rest of the mankind. Khajit culture involves skooma and moon sugar and they aren't affected by Skooma as the rest of the races are. Therefore, its not a problem for them to drink Skooma or have moon sugar.
Dean Goldenstar Nope. Tywin is no where near smart enough to win the game in the first place. Peter Baelish is poised to win the game, having orchestrated the entirety of it in the first place.

This video inspired one of my most favorite character builds yet. Combining Illusion and Conjuration magic to manipulate enemies in to fighting themselves while sending in hordes of conjured wolves, eventually replaced by the flaming familiars, while trying to stay as far away from the fight as possible. After a few enemies are killed start raising them or wait until there is enough to make good use of the Ritual Stone ability. If the fight is brought to you turn in to a werewolf and summon spectral ice wolves or werewolves to fight with you. Taking a large bandit or Forsworn camp becomes a scene of absolute chaos.
Add a follower to the mix and give them a staff to conjure a familiar. Most followers will use it before running in to battle, Belrand uses Conjure Familiar as standard, adding another wolf to your pack. Edit : This just gave me a crazy idea. What would happen if you installed a mod to have multiple followers and gave each a staff :D
Honestly, both narrators are pretty amazing, in my opinion, but Jose adds this sort of ominous feeling of impending doom that Josh simply doesn't have. That being said, I do love Josh's narration, and would still love to hear more of him (as I'm sure many others here would too), so why don't you use this new narrator for those more ominous, cautionary tales instead?
It took me a few minutes to get used to the new narrator, but I think he's a keeper. He lends a nice gravitas to the lore. Now that I'm used to him, it feels and sounds a lot like a great storyteller is telling me a tale while I fall asleep. Anyone who can make me mellow and sleepy deserves a Nobel prize. Thanks (sincerely), Shoddycast!!!
I found his voice-over work to be top notch. Whereas Josh's voice is familiar and great in itself, this video almost had me believe it was part of a Discovery Channel documentary, which in my opinion was brilliant. That's pretty much what I think this series is. A long documentary on the history of the Elder Scrolls games. Whichever route you guys decide to take, I'm still going to keep watching it so great job for everything so far and best wishes on future endeavors! Keep it up, ShoddyCast!
The new narrator was a little odd to hear at first, but after listening to him a couple of times, I'd have to give him a thumbs up. He does carry well the tone of the old town bard, which I believe is quite appropriate for the elder scrolls series. I certainly wouldn't mind hearing another story from him again.
Banishing Potema was as much a pain as it was a piece of cake. Skyre, revenge of the enemies, master difficulty at lvl 40 as a cloth mage. With Lydia, 5 skeletons worth of bones and soul gems, and atronachs against an army of high level vampires teleporting everywhere and deathlords shouting up the place, it was a literal warzone in that dungeon. But to be quite honest, I was disappointed with the boss fight. Sure, an army of deathlords and lichs against my own was awesome but for all the hype Potema was making, I expected more than a ghost with a stupid amount of health and could barely put a scratch on Lydia.
ShoddyCast, I'm a big fan of your lore series and have loved watching every single one. With that in mind I can honestly say that this is one of the best episodes yet. The narrator was fantastic, the machinima was great and the script came alive. Please keep the narrator (if you can afford him). Excellent work, well done!
"I am the Queen of Solitude, daughter of the Emperor! Summon the daedra! I'll trade the soul of every last subject of mine for a little comfort!" Hahahaha, I'm roleplaying.
When I first listened the narrator I though: 'Oh, it's a NPC of an Elder Scrolls game?' It was so good that I didn't realize it was another member of ShoddyCast. Keep him in the cast!
Iv'e been waiting a decade for a comprehensive lore guide to the Elder Scrolls universe. Elder Scrolls Online just came out and iv'e been playing it, but found myself spending most of my time watching this series.
For the new voice over; use him for when reading books because, well his voice is great. But I prefer the authenticity of Josh(?) for anything else. Just my opinion.
+Slayerlord0 thanks! I'm a huge Mannimarco fan and I would love to see a lore video about him and his legacy. I don't think that anyone has done one on him yet because I've actually looked and I have not found one yet but this channel is my favorite lore channel and I would definitely love to see it here 😀
Which is weird, because he's one of the coolest characters in the lore. Kind of a disappointment in vanilla Oblivion because of all the hype build-up but with the right mods...
+Slayerlord0 I agree with you completely! He is definitely one of the more impressive characters in the ES series and there are so many new fans that really just don't know about his legacy and it would be great to finally see a lore video done about him especially on this channel and when it comes to lore and the ES series, I always refer everyone to this channel :)
Just saying, a metal band named Towers wrote a song titled Potema, here are the lyrics. Potema uses powers, forces, strengths unknown She raises from the dead to enslave us all So many tortured, so many lives down RISE THE WOLF QUEEN She makes nightmares, deepest fears reality You'd better hide yourself, no one's safe from the wraith She'll tear the world apart devour your still beating heart Everyone must pay Better step up better fucking prepare The winds have changed, there's something in the air She raised herself back from the dead The world will burn, beneath it There's nothing anyone can do, the wolf queen will conquer you Bow down to her now Beg for mercy from the one they call the wolf queen Ascend yourself to the darkness, you don't stand a chance Bleeding from the inside, bleeding from the eyes From the eyes Potema uses powers, forces, strengths unknown She raises from the dead to enslave us all So many tortured, so many lives down RISE THE WOLF QUEEN She makes nightmares, deepest fears reality You'd better hide yourself, no one's safe from the wraith She'll tear the world apart devour your still beating heart Everyone must pay Better step up better fucking prepare The winds have changed, there's something in the air She raised herself back from the dead The world will burn, beneath it There's nothing anyone can do, the wolf queen will conquer you Bow down to her now Beg for mercy from the one they call the wolf queen Ascend yourself to the darkness, you don't stand a chance Bleeding from the inside, bleeding from the eyes From the eyes
@@sorchatheraven Ulfric's a xenophobe, not a Nazi. The difference is that xenophobes really don't like outsiders without going genocidal while Nazis love planning and committing genocide against people they hate.
This eisode gave chills on my back! The story of Potema The Wolf Quees always gave me a strange and unexplainable fear. And the voice over for this episode compliments the frightening history of the wicked Wolf Queen.
love the the new voice actor gives it a sophisticated feel and I love your work by the way I'm learning more of the elder scrolls lore than i ever hoped
This has got to be your best video yet. The new narrator is splendid and the visual style is much more enthralling. It's amazing how far you're videos have come in the last few months.
This was outstanding. No, this was impeccable. I'm truly amazed by the quality of this video, and how it stays true to the lore of The Elder Scrolls. Great job guys. Oh, and I like the voice as well.
i literally fell in love with Potema, the wolf queen! She's evil, dominant, cruel, saddistic and have no moral restraint! my kind of woman! She may have a dark tale and stuff and also might look simply evil for the sake of being evil, there is more under that i'm sure... well i guess cause nobody is evil to be evil! even tough she was mad, she was also sophisticated and a woman of refined tastes. she really should have sommoned Hircine, she would have found an army much more reliable than shambling corpses, an army of wolfish creature as terrible as herself and she would still be alive today, ruling the empire!
When you do the quest in Solitude's catacombs to banish her back to the void she says something like: "come mortal you are strong and you will be even stronger when you die and rise again to join my army" I wanted to join her to make her to see her rule it would be very interesting to see an undead invasion in the middle of a cival war but she is also very interesting and strong woman I would gladly follow her
during that quest, i wanted to join her but it wasen't a game option... Still, an army of undead werewolves would pretty much put both the empire and the stromcloak out of their grave! because Potema would have brough them back after their death! Curse of the shallow graves
After watching tons of TH-cam videos and reading the comments, ive noticed that people will ALWAYS find something to complain about, no mater what. It's pretty pathetic.
Oh my gosh! It was such a pleasant surprise to find such a skilled voice actor narrating this tell. Don't get me wrong I love the kyles work, but this guy just brings a story tellers touch to it.
***** Yes, that could work. I'm worried, however, that you'd be able to tell that the new narrator isn't familiar with the TES-universe (in pronunciation of and emphasis on certain words etc) . Also, he might just sound too good, giving a more artificial feel to it. I don't know. I'm torn.
Thank you for making this fascinating video about her story. I've been collecting her books in Skyrim. But it wasn't until I defeated her ghost recently that I was truly curious about her.
Josh, I am disappointed in you man. This man's voice is perfect for intensity, and mystery, so his voice is good for narrating. But the lore series should remain yours. Your voice is soothing, and constant. I think you need to do the lore series.
The producing and creation has nothing to do with my comment. The entire point to this was the voice. To me, Josh's voice fits TES lore, because he's done it for so long. I like the other guy's voice, it's a very nice voice. I just think Josh should stick with it. It's soothing and gentile.
I first read this story in Skyrim when I found a book entitled "The wolf Queen v1" even then I was hooked. I couldn't wait to read the next volume so I raided a few dungeons, slaughtered dozens of bandits and draugrs, killed a dragon, ransacked a town until I got all volumes. I have to say that the story is really excellent, so maybe that was one of the reasons why this episode is really good.
Love the new voice. He did an amazing job. I always look forward to these but now even more not that the old voice was bad or anything but... come on this guy is good. The animations on this video were great as well. Really felt like a movie... or I guess t.v. show. But sooo well done.
Well done as usual. Love the narrator. Now I can only hope that you milk-drinking, high elf lovers don't spin lies about Ulfric, the true king of Skyrim, in your next production. Hail Talos!
Keep this man as narrator, the wise old man is the greatest of all narration. Gandalf would be a prime example of perfect narration, so whom ever this man is, great job, brilliant, fantastic, magnificent job. Keep up the extraordinary work you all do. I recently got my brother into this and he likes the story a bit more than Lord Of The Rings surprisingly. Then again the way you people present the story is what makes it so great.
shoddycast ur amazing at explaining lore, ive already done my fair share of studying on the lore of the elder scrolls and fallout, ive even had emails with oxhorn debating these, but i keep learning more and more by watching u, and the way u make these videos are so eye catching and hold my attention for quite awhile, i thank u.
Funny how tamriel history suggests that the nord's of skyrim are the dominant race in all to many ways. look at the examples: Ysgramor, Hakon One-Eye, Felldir The Old, Gormlaith Golden-Hilt, Talos (Aka. Tiber Septim), the septim's in general, the wolf queen, Ulfric Stormcloak, the last dragonborn of the fourth era... The anialation of the snow elves, the double defeat of the dragons... I'm surprised that the empire thought it was a good idea to take their central god away, or that the Aldmery Dominion thought it was a good idea to anger the nords xD
Because there are just as many example of the Nords getting their asses handed to them: Borgas losing the Nordic Empire to a Bosmer Wild Hunt. Losing the Battle of Red Mountain despite having a demigod on their side. Being hired by the Khajiit to help fight the Bosmer, then getting fired because they lost so terribly. Destruction if their armies at the hands of the Tsaesci and the Kamal. Just to name a few. And the Dragonborn isn't always nord. It's just as easily any other race. Player choice determines the race. The Dominion doesn't mind banning the worship of Talos because they know the easily manipulated Nords will lash out at the Imperials, making the next war against them much easier. And even if they have to get involved, they field two things the Nords are weak against: Bosmer snipers and Altmer battlemages.
wasnt the battle of red mountain fought between the dark elves and the dwarves? i guess you have a point, but i remember the nords in skyrim being just as pissed at elves as they where at the empire. snipers maybe, but i can think of an easy way to beat any magic: the shouts of the nords. i honestly believe that the nords can hold skyrim in a defencive fight against anything
Alexander Greyling The battle of red mountain was fought between the dwarves and Chimer yes but long before that the Nords invaded and caused the Dwarves and Chimer to ally together and fight back. Two different battles. And just as a side note it always bugs me that in game there are less than 100 guards in the imperial city yet lore wise they had entire legions there.
Akaviri Commander Mishaxhi I blame the programming limitations of the time. There was a lot of stuff from Oblivion and Skyrim that had to be cut to make them more console friendly, or removed because there just wasn't enough time to develop it all.
Alexander Greyling Forgot to add: The shouts barely help against elves. As proof at the Battle of Red Mountain when damn near every Nord could Shout. Yet they still lost. The Mer simply slit their throats or muted them so they couldn't shout.
Awesome writing, and awesome choice of story. You guys are just fantastic, favorite channel by far. The ESO info and content, alongside the you're lore series is great! Keep it up Shoddy Cast!
I think it comes down to the intentions of the conjurer. The mages were likely doing it as part of research. Potema summoned daedra for her own malicious ambition for power.
That quest was one of my favorites in Skyrim. There was a beautiful sense of foreboding, and it was a serious challenge even at higher levels. Really great addition to this lore series too~
I don't know I like this new guy's voice and all, but the original narrator has grown on me and without him this episode seemed to be missing something.
One of the best, most fascinating parts of TES lore! I love the history of the Septims and Potema is one awesome character, terrible and insane but awesome. Thank you!
The whole video was awesome, but I felt a chill on the spine when the image of Ulfirc Stormcloak appeared. The next episode has the potential to be the most epic yet.
This feels like an actual History Channel video.
ikr
if you would add real-life reanactments, the camera skimming across artifacts, and a live action speaking of a random proffessional person i would believe it fully
I dig it
Exept its actually acuret
I know im asking randomly but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?

The narrator's voice is golden.
The story is golden.
I would gladly view a motion picture of this.

aphrodisy well technically a video is a motion picture. a motion picture is litterally a picture that moves so this video is a motion picture...
He's actually a VA from the Elder Scrolls 4 expansion, The Shivering Isles.
Anyone else feel Bethesda should turn this series into a dvd and package it with the next Elder Scrolls game? Seriously, I watch this and I feel like I'm watching the History Channel.
Haha same
no way, bethesda should never make money off of this, but i could totally picture pete hines trying to
Shes loosely based off the mother of an Aztec king who used jer sons power to make her more powerful little late to know but fun fact haha.
So Wolf Queen Potema is basically a demented mix of Cersei Lannister and Adolf Hitler, with daedra worship and necromancy. Yeah, sounds like such a nice lady.

ShoddyCast presents: If Cersei was competent.
Pffhahahahaha!! True true!
By the faith of the Seven, its a good thing she didnt inherit Tywins wits.
Mighty Roogna She would've won the darn game by now if that was the case...
Dean Goldenstar Nope. Tywin is no where near smart enough to win the game in the first place.

I hear Morgan Freeman bows down to him.

he has an alright voice but josh's voice is overwhelmingly superior
Moral of the story, don't soul trap werewolves.
That's for damn sure. XD

This new voice actor, he deserves to be in the movies.
In the quest that stops Potema from reanimating, i couldn't help wanting to go along with her plans and become a truly evil Dragonborn.

All hail Potema true empress of tamriel!
Is like an NPC in Morrowind told me this tale, with a slumbering and sinister tone, and with questionable sound quality.
Magical.

And some say that bethesda writers were bad.
I hope they do a video on Miraak, the first dragonborn, I reckon that's be interesting

Yes.
You can say the same about Ancano with the Eye of Magnus.
I would blame the ones who tried to revive her. It has to be their bad power that she was so weak.
Allan Vdsouza
Yes after the long questline we deserved a good Mage bossfight

Can you please do a lore video about Mannimarco? I think his legacy is impressive but not well known with the more recent Elder Scrolls fans.
Agree.

Fantastic work here Josh! Something you can be really proud of. Bethesda should start paying you for this!!
The drawings look great! You really stepped it up in this episode.
That was amazing! By far your best yet and yes, great voice actor. Keep it up Shoddy!
Damn, this takes me back. It was this video that introduced me to Shoddycast years ago. And its still as good.
Sounds like Marquis Ondore in FFXII opening narration! Awesome!
Yes! I knew he sounded like someone from FF XII.
That narrorator is amazing, brought the immersion to a whole new level.
Just saying, a metal band named Towers wrote a song titled Potema, here are the lyrics.
Potema uses powers, forces, strengths unknown
She raises from the dead to enslave us all
So many tortured, so many lives down
RISE THE WOLF QUEEN
She makes nightmares, deepest fears reality
You'd better hide yourself, no one's safe from the wraith
She'll tear the world apart devour your still beating heart
Everyone must pay
Better step up better fucking prepare
The winds have changed, there's something in the air
She raised herself back from the dead
The world will burn, beneath it
There's nothing anyone can do, the wolf queen will conquer you
Bow down to her now
Beg for mercy from the one they call the wolf queen
Ascend yourself to the darkness, you don't stand a chance
Bleeding from the inside, bleeding from the eyes
From the eyes Potema uses powers, forces, strengths unknown
She raises from the dead to enslave us all
So many tortured, so many lives down
RISE THE WOLF QUEEN
She makes nightmares, deepest fears reality
You'd better hide yourself, no one's safe from the wraith
She'll tear the world apart devour your still beating heart
Everyone must pay
Better step up better fucking prepare

Those lyrics suck
PurpleDream yea they kinda do
Evan Michael Sutka Still, it's cool that they did do that. Do you think they play Skyrim? :D
probably
clint jensen There is also a porn series based on the resurrection of Potema.
Damn that voice was awesome!
4:17 So he's essentially the Robert Baratheon the TES lore
Except that he never was confirmed to have a large number of illegitimate children.
Cept he wasn't married to Potema in this case. And in my opinion, a lot of comparisons can be drawn between Cersei Lannister and Potema Septim.
Moving animation, a fantastic voice actor for that TES feeling, and yet another great lore story. Absolutely awesome!
There is a Reason why I call Solitude The City of the Dead
Because they sided with Imperial scum?
>muh wacism
Ulfric will make Skyrim great again.
Ӽan-chan җ
Ulfric is just a Nazi scumbag
@@lordblazer The thalmor you mean? They want to destroy man kind from tamriel
It's amazing how far you're videos have come in the last few months.
this guy has an epic voice, keep him
These are like bedtime stories, I'm cuddled up with popcorn and a blanket xD
This was absolutely amazing. I cannot applaud this enough.
I started thinking i had accidently clicked a documentory because this narrator is so proffesional sounding
PERFECT narrator for your TES lore series, and the music was very fitting!
The new narrator is reading a story, not telling one. Because of this, even though his voice is good, I think the prior one is better.
Thanks for the video, I was always wanting more info about the wolf queen after I did the quest in Solitude.
you could of red the books of the wolf queen that is what i did :)
CaptainJoshGaming To be honest, I never knew there were books on her. After my countless hours of gameplay I guess I never bothered to look at books.
Let no others word fool you. You've all done an amazing job with this one. Keep up the fantastic work!
Do one on AKAVIR and the meomer!
Probably one of the best lore videos I've seen, if not the best. Keep up the work ShoddyCast!
Josh, I am disappointed in you man. This man's voice is perfect for intensity, and mystery, so his voice is good for narrating. But the lore series should remain yours. Your voice is soothing, and constant. I think you need to do the lore series.
i prefer the voice actor...
The producing and creation has nothing to do with my comment. The entire point to this was the voice. To me, Josh's voice fits TES lore, because he's done it for so long. I like the other guy's voice, it's a very nice voice. I just think Josh should stick with it. It's soothing and gentile.
I agree
i agree with ya carl
lets give the both a chance
Easily the best elder scrolls lore video I've ever seen
That moment when you realize the elders scrolls history channel has better voice actors than the games themselves....
the voice acting was very good. like and professor teaching history to his beloved students.
*The Wolf KAREN of Solitude*
Oh my god this guy has a great voice. So soothing, and so clear.
TES's own Cercei Lanister
Only competent.
If she were a Targaryen. Considering she is a Septim by birth.
this is beautiful, I love the way you visually present the story and voice just suits and theme of the video, good job!
The narrator reminded me of the Stanley parable
Yup
The new voice is amazing, hopefully you can convince him to narrate more episodes!
Many thanks for the video guys, keep up the good work :)
"Upon the forces of her uncle"
I thought Cephorus was Potema's little brother?
This series is so amazing! The Elder Scrolls lore is so deep and plenty of dark secrets and these videos are very helpful in showing them!
Best episode yet
shoddycast ur amazing at explaining lore, ive already done my fair share of studying on the lore of the elder scrolls and fallout, ive even had emails with oxhorn debating these, but i keep learning more and more by watching u, and the way u make these videos are so eye catching and hold my attention for quite awhile, i thank u.
Because there are just as many example of the Nords getting their asses handed to them:
Borgas losing the Nordic Empire to a Bosmer Wild Hunt.
Akaviri Commander Mishaxhi
I blame the programming limitations of the time. There was a lot of stuff from Oblivion and Skyrim that had to be cut to make them more console friendly, or removed because there just wasn't enough time to develop it all.
Alexander Greyling
Forgot to add: The shouts barely help against elves. As proof at the Battle of Red Mountain when damn near every Nord could Shout. Yet they still lost. The Mer simply slit their throats or muted them so they couldn't shout.
the best shoddy lore cast i've seen and i have pretty much seen them all, thank you for the hard work!
Great job and is this the new voice actor that will keep narrating the rest of the episodes?
You guys are awesome. You have probably heard that before, but it never hurts to say it every now and then.
I wish the rest of the elder scrolls lore series videos were in this style.
So much effort seems to be put into these videos, it's really impressive.
You say "summoning daedra" like it's a bad thing.
As one who has the favor of Azura, Noctunal, Boethia, Meridia, Mephala, Vaermina, Sanguine, and Sheogorath, I agree with you.
In the skyrim culture is like summonig the devil, it's bad shit
RaderizDorret in the name of Meridia and Hircine i agree
:P ;)
Best storytelling voice in this series for real!!!! Let this guy do all the talking! :D
Can you possibly make an episode about Pelagius Septim III, the mad emperor of tamriel (now so boringly sane)?
Awesome writing, and awesome choice of story. You guys are just fantastic, favorite channel by far. The ESO info and content, alongside the you're lore series is great! Keep it up Shoddy Cast!
oh the mages of Winterhold can summon unbound deadra and it's called "Research." Potema does it and she's a "menace" and needs to be "overthrown"
I think it comes down to the intentions of the conjurer. The mages were likely doing it as part of research. Potema summoned daedra for her own malicious ambition for power.
The new voice is just so perfect for this series!
I glue spoons together for fun. One time I glued two end to end and Darth Mauled a bowl of Lucky Charms
i wish my life was as interesting as yours, but all i do is make sock puppets kiss each other....
lol
That quest was one of my favorites in Skyrim. There was a beautiful sense of foreboding, and it was a serious challenge even at higher levels. Really great addition to this lore series too~
I don't know I like this new guy's voice and all, but the original narrator has grown on me and without him this episode seemed to be missing something.
One of the best, most fascinating parts of TES lore! I love the history of the Septims and Potema is one awesome character, terrible and insane but awesome. Thank you!
This narrator kind of sounds like the guy who did the stanley parable. He has a nice voice, however I think I prefer Josh :P
The whole video was awesome, but I felt a chill on the spine when the image of Ulfirc Stormcloak appeared. The next episode has the potential to be the most epic yet.
