@@kavithav9977 he doesn't appear in a lot of the show's press tours, and is usually a background player in many interviews... it's mostly the upstairs cast. And early on, he was made out to be a villain, so yeah, that's what I meant. But you're right, he's been a favourite among many fans now, though

This is the greatest Thomas video to exist on the internet. I love it more and more every time I watch it. He's the greatest character in the whole series and Rob James-Collier did the best job and portrayed this very complex but wonderful character so well. I wish I had Thomas as my friend. And I also wish he's going to see Richard again. ✌🏻😍

To see his suffering just because he was not born a heterosexual, well it’s just painful to see. This actor does a fantastic job of conveying the angst of being ‘different’ and being such an outcast!! At first, I did not like Thomas at all........ but then...... we see why he behaves as he does. In the movie, it was so nice to see that there is someone out there for him.

Virpi, you have to analyze deeply on why he acted mean. Despised by his own mother for being gay. Unacknowledged by his father for being born out of wedlock with a servant. Belittled and disrespected by coworkers. Put yourself in his position, what would you do? How would you act? Remember his love for children. Children don't point out. They don't judge! Now ask yourself why he felt sorrow for the soldier in the hospital. And why he cried wishing it was he who should have died. Why he exposed his life saving his half sister from dying in the fire. Why he intervened in the brawl when he knew he couldn't fight? Thomas Barrow was fighting good and evil. Fighting the establishment. He couldn't understand why he was not loved by someone! 😭😭😭
Well, theres the abusive father, social shame and being himself is illegal, he tries to make the best of what he has, the closest thing hes had to a father figure since he was 14 is Carson who said he should be horse whipped. He was on the front lines of WW1 for 2 years! And fell in love with a soldier who killed himself. Eventually he tried conversion therapy to just attempt to be normal and escape his hopelessness, I feel that feeling of if u even try to be urself people will hate u and persecute u speaks to LGBT+ audiences. Then the suicide attempt. Thomas goes through so much! And still comes out the other side better. And being gay in that era would be reason enough.

I hate Thomas Barrow. He is so mean to everyone. But then everyone forgives him for his homosexuality. Even Sir Robert Crawly helps him evade the law. If that got out, that Lord Chantham had helped a gay man; it would be all the talk. On the flip side, they treated the house maid, Ethel so bad, for having sex with an handsome Army Officer and getting pregnant. Why didn't Mrs. Hughes, tell his parents, she caught their son in the act with this unsuspecting young girl? All of them, act like Ethel is just soiled goods, except, Isobel Crawley. I guess it just made me mad.
