Kels is legit in all her advice! Take heed and ask questions. As a Fall 2k20 inductee of Sigma Gamma Rho, Inc I can say she helped steer me in making sure my process was smooth from start to finish! Love you Sis!
I can also agree. Ms.Kels is very informative in all her videos and that has helped me become a Fall 2020 inductee of The Sophisticated SORHORITY of Sigma Gamma Rho.💙💛.
I really appreciate you and your channel. I’ve been really scared to pursue a grad chapter for a while, my own personal insecurities from undergrad lol, but I decided that 2021 I wasn’t going to stand in my way in regards to what I want. So I’ve been binge watching your videos to prepare myself! Thank you!!!
Me too! I have been binge watching as well. I have been nervous to pursue my local grad chapter, but today is the day I am going to take a leap of faith! Also, I happened to run into a grad chapter member (wearing her sweater and all!) so I got her name and struck up a general convo and that was my sign lol💕 these videos are the best!
Please go for it! @kelstells is the real deal! I watched all of her videos before I was accepted into my organization SPR18! Oh and I was 51 at the time! 😂😂😂. You are never to old to go for your dreams! ❤️
Grad chapters and discretion : very true that you have to make your interest known . However if you live in an area with several grad chapters of the same org ( my county has 4 Grad chapters of my org) , you have to decide which one you are going to pursue . Word does get around if it seems like you are " shopping ".
Some people are concerned about finding the right fit which I can understand because when you join an organization, you’re joining (through that chapter) for life. And it’s important to join a chapter that you’ll love and thrive. I don’t agree with discretion but some orgs prefer this practice. It’s the members that have preferences on how you interact with them. Not all will think of an interest as “shopping” because the members want to recruit good fits as much as the interests do.
I have a question. I'm interested in an organization but i'm an online student but the organization is not on campus. I want to pursue the grad chapter that is not far from me. What should i do?
Hi. I am looking into alumnae chapters. If the org continues to stress about staying in their service area, but you attended a college that’s in their service area and the alumnae chapter was founded by the college you attended. Do you think that will make the application stronger because of that? Or just try to apply anyway? Or no?
You have to follow the organization's requirements to apply. If you're in the required area, then you shouldn't have issue with your application. I can't speak to how your history with the college will impact your application.
Your videos are really helpful! I am graduating this semester & the sorority that I have been pursuing decided that they will not be partaking in intake this semester🤦🏽♂️So I want to purse their grad chapter, but one question I have that no one seems to have the question to is if you have to be in Graduate school to join a grad chapter?
I’ve answered this question a few times times and I’ll link the video. The short answer is no. The professional term is alumni chapter which means that you need to be an alumnae from undergrad to join th-cam.com/video/OIv_nGn45yo/w-d-xo.html
Hello! I want to pledge grad chapter in a particular sorority. In fact, this particular sorority, I always wanted to be a member. I did ask someone that was a member of this particular sorority, if it is alright to be a part of this sorority. This particular person took down my information. And did say they will get in touch with me. I haven't heard from this individual yet. How long should I wait to get back with this individual? I just hope this will not be let down. I just need feedback if possible.
Hi! Please watch my graduate membership playlist, particularly the video on solicitation for membership. Some organizations have ways in which they do membership that you should know.
My undergraduate degree GPA was horrible but my Grad GPA above 3.0, Question 1 will my Grad Trump my undergraduate 2nd question how long is the selection process for membership?
Check the description box for details on GPAs. The process varies. Depending on the season. I have both videos on my channel about fall and spring membership
I know someone one who says that they’re annual dues are broken into monthly payments? Is is different from the dues due during the initiation process?
Hello,I recently saw an interest group pop up whenever I went into the organization’s nationwide chapter locator. There is no contact info or email to inquiry about this chapter.I live in the area and this is definitely a new chapter so do I just wait until they make it public or do I reach out to corporate to get contact info?
If the chapter is established, then the best option would be to wait until contact is provided. If it’s not yet established, then it’s possible to send an inquiry (not interest) email. Check out my inquiry video on my channel for more info
I have a question: what happened if you did go thru an intake for one sorority as an undergrad and left for personal reasons, then show interest and want to be a part of a grad chapter for a different sorority, will that hinder you?
Check out my video on membership dues to give an idea of what to save. You’re not “supposed” to ask (I recommend not asking because it’s generally not an acceptable question from my experience). But you’re told this information during formal rush.
@KelsTells I actually just watched the video before I saw your response 😅. Thank you for being so kind as to share information that some would otherwise never know. I have watched many of your videos and they are extremely helpful. One question I didn't see answered is the amount of community service hours required or will community service be a part of the process?
I have video for that too lol. I’ll link it for you. The exact number depends on the organization you intend to join, but my video states some ballpark hours to shoot for in addition to some service options. th-cam.com/video/4zy1CNx5g6Y/w-d-xo.html
Thanks so much for this much informative video. I have a couple of questions. Question 1 If you attended 2 schools for undergrad will the GPAs from both schools be considered or just the school in which you received the degree? Question 2 If you started grad school and have not yet completed is the GPA taken into consideration also? Thanks
Thank you. The organization will review your GPA from the institution where you received your degree. The GPA from undergrad is the main GPA that is reviewed by the organization. Some organizations may take your grad GPA into consideration. But UG is the default.
Hello, I am missing some clarity regarding this question: If you are in grad school and the university you are attending has an undergraduate chapter, can you join that chapter or do you have to join an alumnae chapter? Thanks in advance!
Because you have a 4-yr degree, you’re eligible for alumnae (graduate) membership, not undergraduate. The organization’s website has detailed membership requirements for reference
Hi Kels, I am shocked about the number of denouncing videos. I've seen some for numerous sororities/fraternities. Some go through each symbol on the pins and patches and explain how they are evil pretty much. Everyone has their own opinions and I respect that. These just surprised me 😮 Is it a common question to inquire about this?

Everyone has their own opinions and I respect that. These just surprised me 😮

It depends on who you ask. I have not encountered this. I talked about it once years ago.
