This was so helpful. I’m currently pursing joining a graduate chapter & I have reached out, but like you said they’re working adults and don’t always keep up with social media. I’ll try to get in touch with the VP of the Chapter. Thank you so much!!
I understand your struggle. Nothing worth having is easy but if it’s meant to be then it will happen. Expand your network of members in your chapter to get to know other people
Hi Kels! I’m pretty sure that the grad chapter that I’m interested in just had a meeting to decide who will be invited to begin the intake process. Approximately how long will it be for the lucky ones to formally find out that they’ve been selected? 🙏🏽
I heard bad things about grad chapters they are not easy. One person told me there whole story of how there process went. They said they were asked if the spouse was greek. She was married and everyone gave her a hard time about being married and sh said she didn’t get picked but two other women did who were single. Then, one member from the chapter contacted the interest to come back and try again...honestly who would try more then once to join a organization? Does it matter if spouse isn’t greek? If a person is married and has other things that take up her time does org. Grad chapter care?
I can't speak on that as I've never experienced anything like that. But I always tell my subbies that if a chapter or its members are not friendly, then they should pursue another chapter because most chapters want new members and are very welcoming. Every chapter is not the same which is why it's important to do research on the organization and the chapter.
The story you conveyed is probably not typical. I have not heard of Grad Chapters turning people away. Grad Chapters generally fall over backwards to let people in. That is how the Grad Chapters survive. They are stereotypically considered the "easy" way to get in.
I did not join undergrad because I thought that I was too old. I should have joined then since Graduate chapter memberships are harder to join. I should have been thinking about the long-term service.
I was told you can't join undergrad if you already graduate with a four year degree. But if you don't have a four year degree, you probably could join undergraduate.
I’ve been thinking about joining Grad Chapter. I must say being 48 and thinking about this I’m not sure how I feel about you saying “be open to old people”. Am I OLD PEOPLE? Do women using join at my age? I promise I clutched my pearls when you said it lol. Seriously thank you so much for the info.
I meant people who’ve been in the organization for more than 30 years. Yes, women your age have joined both UG and grad chapter. All ages are welcome in grad chapter. Do what makes you most comfortable. You’re only as old as you think you are.
What would you suggest saying when reaching out to a chapters VP about expressing your interest? Also, what's the best approach when asking other chapter members for their information to contact them?
How do graduate chapters handle pledges with physical or mental disabilities? Say if the pledge is in a wheelchair and cannot step or do any strolls? Or if a pledge requires a service animal? What would the pledge expect from the sorority?
I don't even know if I want to pledge a fraternity. I can't even submit my initial paper work until I get a response back to a question I have. I have sent multiple emails to different emails, and there has been no response. This may be a sign that a Greek fraternity is not for me.
Hi. I was looking for your video regarding Undergrad vs Grad chapters. Would happen to remember the name? Or could possibly link it in the description. Thank you.
Just viewed your video so insightful! You mentioned that grad chapter is more expensive. By any chance are you at liberty to disclose an average or estimate on cost for both grad chapter or undergrad? Another question: Can any age join undergrad? What if you’re in grad school can you still join undergrad?
Hi Peggy! Thank you for your kind words. Please check out my updated video regarding your questions. Answers can be found here: th-cam.com/video/5_RQXcdexEo/w-d-xo.html
Hello, I’m interested in joining an undergrad sorority but I got into an argument with a couple of the ppl in the sorority. It wasn’t on purpose but they came for me and I stood my ground. I have now transferred and am still interested in joining. Do you think that situation will hender me from being accepted??
It shouldn’t follow you unless the schools are close to each other. In that case, it’s still not likely that the chapter from the previous school will know of your crossing until after your reveal. That’s best case scenario
Hi Kels - do you know if you still can qualify if you don’t make the gpa requirement for the BS but do make it for an MBA? Basically could I use my MBA gpa over my undergrad gpa
The organization that you want to join will have their GPA requirement on their website. Organizations mainly review your undergrad GPA. Check out my recent grad chapter q&a. th-cam.com/video/5_RQXcdexEo/w-d-xo.html

I've been invited to a private formal intake. We will get our packets after the meeting. Is that common in graduate chapter? Do you think the next step is an interview?
Great info! Question, would you say that approaching the V.P. of any of the graduate D9 sororities is acceptable to do or only certain sororities this would be acceptable? I realize you can't speak for all sororities, just want your thoughts. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you. You can just introduce yourself and let her know that you’re interested in learning more about the chapter and the organization. You don’t have to be coy.
Hi, just came across this video. The sorority rush I attended handed out applications after the event. The application had a graduate section for graduate students to fill out and turn in. So I'm wondering if a graduate student can join the same chapter as undergraduates? Is this ever allowed?
Hello, check out my videos on membership requirements. To join in UG, you must be in pursuit of a 4 year degree. For grad, you must have obtained a 4 year degree
Hi KelsTells you mentioned in your video about a way you can get in but you will be identified as a regional member until you get your degree how can someone do that?
That process is called regional undergraduate membership that’s offered through my sorority where you can pursue undergraduate membership with the local grad chapter if your school does not offer a charter.
@@KelsTells I don’t want to ask you to many questions but I’m trying to pledge grad chapter and I’m learning as I go. But the regional membership wouldn’t apply to me right?

I will be graduating with my BS in December and am interested in joining a grad chapter closer to my hometown. Is now okay to start attending some of their community service and public programs while I am home for the summer?
I have a question for you. I was talking to my Senior Manager as she had her AKA attire on. I told her I would love to go to events with her as I’ve always been interested but I know you have to be invited. She called the president of the chapter and the president told her to give me her email. She sent me the forms with in structions but I’m confused.... The paperwork says reactivation or general membership. Does this mean I should fill out the paperwork pay the dues and I’m in? Part of me is thinking my Sr manager thought I was already a member previously. I might have just answered my own question. Lol. General Membership 🤔
@@KelsTells Thank You! This was very helpful!!! The president did get bk to me and since there are not events I could attend, because of the pandemic she suggested following their pages and try to get to know them that way. Any other suggestions?
@@tiffanyharris8156 No. Something was lost in translation and the chapter president might have believed that you were already a member of the sorority. It does not sound like you are, so you should not be filling out any reactivation or general membership paperwork. As a member of the sorority (for over a decade), I would advise you to seek guidance from the members of AKA whom you have established contact with. There is only so much accurate guidance that the internet can offer.
Hello, question you said talk to the VP, who is the membership chair...but when I researched their website they have a membership chair who is not the VP. So do I contact the VP still or the membership chair?
Graduate membership is available to those who’ve obtained a 4-year degree and have met the required GPA for that organization. It won’t be available for post high school graduates.
It’s up to you. You’re going to be introduced to different age groups if you join grad chapter. I recommend the following video before making a decision th-cam.com/video/MJa9KaA6Zzg/w-d-xo.html
Good Afternoon... Thank you for your video. I know you said do not wear any organization colors when you go to events and stuff. Most neutral colors are apart of D9. Would it be best to just wear black?
It’s recommended not to wear colors related to the sororities. It’s not a written rule but a good rule of thumb. Black isn’t your only option. There’s beige, purple, etc. Examples are provided in my prep course as well.
I understand what you mean by a letter in a PWI. If you mean that you were previously a member of an NPC, then you’d have to denounce your previous organization before expressing interest in a D9 organization
