I love these videos!!! I been thinking about joining one. I love Community Service it’s just what I love to do. Thank you so much for these advices and self help @kelsTells ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this information! I am 53, will graduate 27 years late with my BS in just over 3 weeks and have begun to express interest in a particular chapter and organization. Your videos for the grad chapters have been invaluable! Please keep producing and updating these videos because there are so many folks returning to their educational goals via online courses.
Hi. Great content in this video. I just wanted to mention that everyone who is interested in joining a Greek sorority or fraternity as a grad is not doing so because they were unable to as an undergraduate. Some people actually chose not to join as an undergrad for a variety of reasons. I say this because of all the videos out here on this subject, it seems everyone assumes that those who join graduate chapters do so because they had no other choice, but I never hear anyone speak to the fact that for some, and perhaps for many, joining as a graduate is actually their preference. Keep making excellent videos!
@KelsTells ok my bad. Maybe "gone thru the process in undergrad"... ok I'll see if I can find which video you referenced this topic. You've given a wealth of commentary, (super helpful) so I must have missed it. Thanks so much🫶🏾
I was not planing on joining a sorority even though I grew up around it. It wasn’t until my niece told me that my sister would cry and be so proud if I joined her sorority, that I was determined to finish my 4 yr degree and join. Since she didn’t tell me this herself, I’m sure it will be more of a surprise when I tell her myself. Thank you for the information, I’ve got some research and planning to do!!
Thank you so much for this video. I just moved to NYC after completing my master's degree and always wanted to join a sorority. I'm afraid that because I'm new to the state and don't know anyone directly in the chapter that I will miss an opportunity to join if possible. I am planning to attend the chapter events that are open to the public. But, I am afraid that if I reach out to a graduate chapter in my area, there are about 5 in my surrounding area btw, that they will think I'm not showing discretion and not want to reply to my message. I'm appreciative of your honesty and that you brought up the need to reach out along with attending events. I never really considered that they may be as interested in me as I am with them. I was actually scared that being out of school was a disadvantage because unless I knew someone directly in the chapter, they won't notice me. I am going to take your advice and reach out. Would you be willing to do a video that goes further into do's and don'ts of expressing interest in graduate chapters?
I’d be happy to create a video for you! I’m sure others will like to know as well! Thank you for sharing your story. It means a lot that my videos are helping!
When emailing it messaging a Greek of a grad chapter for the first time, how do you express your interest without just straight saying “ I’m interest in joining”, and would like to know if you have any informational meeting coming up?
Thank you so much for the information. I wanted to be in a sorority since I grew up. I remember when I was young my grandmother was in Eastern Star and so was I. I remember going to the meetings on Saturday and doing a lot of community service. I loved what I was doing for the community. I am now in the medical field and I still love what I am doing for the community. I just don't know what organization I want to join. Your video gave me a lot of insight and I really appreciate it. I heard other videos and I am not the one who wants to join to be seen. I want to join because I want to give back and help others like I have been doing for years.
I finish my undergraduate degree in April 2025; how early should I show interest in a graduate chapter? Or should I wait until I have my undergraduate degree to show interest in a graduate chapter?
You can show interest while in undegrad, however, be cognizant of whether the organization accept solicitation for membership. Check out the video on my channel for more information on how to know this
thank you so much for this! I've been considering joining Sigma Gamma Rho for over a year now and recently got the process going with my local Grad Chapter. Your video helped to affirm some things I've done and given me extra confidence to do what I've been *thinking* of doing! now I'm just gonna go watch all your content!...LOL
to make sure I am clear. Although I am currently in graduate school and the university has the sorority I want to join. I would not be able to join through the university I would need to apply through the graduate chapter in the community.
I sent an letter of interest to grad chapter and haven’t received a response but I’m worried if I shouldn’t have or should I send it to another grad chapter near me.
Before sending the letter, did you confirm that the organization accepts solicitation? If it does not, then that could be the reason why they haven’t responded. Check out my video on email etiquette th-cam.com/video/1OesNo8Y8NI/w-d-xo.html
It depends on whether your organization of interest accepts solicitation for membership. If the organization allows it, then I encourage you to start showing interest.
Im a year and a half from graduating with my bachelors degree and I know chapter I want to join and I know I have to wait til I complete to officially request to join but is it good to still go to public events so that you want gain more knowledge and be prepared for when it’s time?
I’m interested in join a grad chapter but the two that I’m interested in don’t have events that often for me to show my face and network in a sense to get invited in. What should I do?

Rarely addressed, but in your opinion. What age is too old to apply for Undergrad membership? I'm 30+ married with a son. However, I have always expressed interest in a particular organization. Should I go for it or apply for A Graduate chapter?
There’s no age limit to apply for undergraduate membership. th-cam.com/video/pM7Crys7w_A/w-d-xo.html. It depends on you and your level of comfort. If you’re more comfortable with joining with joining grad chapter, there will be members in their 30s but you’ll come across all ages in grad chapter. th-cam.com/video/p6fNPhaLwKk/w-d-xo.html
@KelsTells- For the older ladies who are currently in college working on a four year degree , should we go for the undergraduate chapter or wait and go for the graduate chapter?

I am up to date with the events of the chapter I am interested in joining, their IG is up to date, but is it appropriate to DM them and tell them I’m interested how can I find out more info anyways? I’ve also done research for years so I’m not sure what public info they would tell me that I couldn’t find myself? I hope this question makes sense lol
Discretion isn’t important when dealing with grad chapters. I always say, “how will they know you’re interested unless you tell them?” So definitely contact them and let them know
KelsTells last question, I hope it’s not a silly question, when I reach out via DM how should I ask about intake? “Hello, I’m interested in joining this organization, I’ve attended some events and I wanted to know more about the intake process” is that okay or appropriate?
If you’re new and expressing for the first time, then I recommend sending an introduction email. Letters of interest are mainly used as part of the intake process. Check out my dos and don’ts video for grad chapter th-cam.com/video/zHovqV17WsM/w-d-xo.html
Hi ... I'm interested in joining a grad chapter and i began following this certain chapter on Instagram. I wanted to go to a few public events but i don't know how to break the ice without sounding thirsty or hinting that i want in???
Start by just going to events. You don’t have to break the ice at your first event. If someone asks you how you found out about the event, tell them where.
Right now, I am a senior in college and I am interested in joining a sorority but I am about to graduate soon, and I feel like it would be a waste to join so late. I have decided to wait to join a grad chapter until after I graduate with my BA. However, since I am young and will possibly be moving around a lot, I want to join my hometown’s chapter, but can I transfer to another chapter once I settle in life?
I have a video related to this topic that I'll link for you. But yes, you would potentially join the chapter closest to you and then you can request a transfer if you move elsewhere. th-cam.com/video/l7onhIrIMP8/w-d-xo.html
Latoria Owens every organization is different, but grad chapter processes can take anywhere between 3 weeks to 2 months. Ask the membership chair and they can confirm their timeline.
