- The time is finally here, we are picking up our new caravan and taking it on the first 'tester trip'!
In this video we take our old caravan to Sussex Caravans as it was being part exchanged for our new one. We collect our lovely new caravan after a hand over session with the wonderful team up there. Then we head to Concierge Camping for a couple of nights to try it out and get used to it all.
Come with us as we spend the first couple of nights in 'Trailer Swift' and give you a full tour too.
We want to give a special mention to Sussex Caravans, especially Erin and Justine, for looking after us so well and Chris for giving us a very thorough handover. We really can't recommend them enough, absolutely first class service!!

Enjoy your new caravan and your travels. I hope you have plenty of covers on seats Etc, as All labs seem to shed hair, whether copper/black/ golden. And nothing changes with that breed, they can sniff out food getting their noses in where it shouldn't be.
Your layout is what we had in our old caravan. If your careful with fluids, there's no problem when emptying the cassette if you have an awning up. The plus side is not getting wet when raining taking it out and re-inserting it. apart from walking to/from Eslan point.
After many years we have changed to a Swift Challenger 560, with a longitudinal island bed, which we both find it easier to get in and out of bed. And a central bathroom.
Both layouts means if you have visitors/friends, you can shut off the bedroom/toilet area, But in our case, daughters can have a shower/get washed Etc in private.

Great to see the new 'van in action. and yes there's lots of mods to make it even better. as mentioned there's a clear plate to attach over the fridge display/touch pad, we did this and it's brilliant. also some LED spotlights instead of the 'under the locker' lighting at the front. We might ever do them over the fixed bed too at some stage. we have a small awning that doesn't fit right to the end of rear of the van so the toilet/cassete is easily accessed. something like a Dometic 260 would be fine. Glad you're loving the new van. We aren't thinking of changing ours anytime soon. it works great for us and hope you have many days/nights in it too.

Love watching your videos and adore Dozer. Lovely new caravan. Like you we bought a new caravan last year and like you found not as much cupboard space for storage, we found that although loads of storage under beds and sofa, it was quite heavy to keep lifting several times a day, so what we do now is we have converted the locker that opens out into our awning into a larder. It's amazing how much you can get in there especially the dog food ect. Looking forward to watching your adventures this year ❤

Congratulations and many happy memories in Trailer Swift, great name. Sussex Caravans are a great dealership we’re on our fourth caravan from them. Layout is very personal we went from two berth to fixed twin beds and back to two berth plus dinette (Coachman Ashington based on VIP 520) as we much prefer the extra lounge space and making the bed up is not an issues for us. Looking forward to seeing more of your vlogs.

We also have a dealer special and you mentioned about extending the heater into the toilet/shower this was one of the first things I did, you just need to buy a T piece to fit behind the bed outlet using the piece you remove to fit behind the new outlet you fit in the toilet plus a metre of heater pipe which if you talk to your dealer they might just have a piece knocking around to give you. Mac said he was the chef, well I was actually a chef and I fitted a shelf at the bottom of the wardrobe to take tins at the bottom and packet stuff on the shelf itself. I also felt that with the heater in the toilet compartment I wanted more hooks to hang towels and wet coats on, this I solved with a Kampa jack hanger which I took the end caps off taking 2 of the hooks and putting them through the 2 vent slots in the shelf in there these are actually fitted back onto the hanger but face the opposite direction. I just love tinkering so there are a few more bits I’ve done so if you would like to send me a message I’ll send you the photos of how these look.

We have a similar draining board in our Coachman Lazer but I can highly recommend a Joseph Joseph one which also drains into the sink but has a pop up plate rack on it so that plates and bowls etc can drain without falling over. It’s one of the best things we have bought for our van. Love from Amanda and Paul.😊

Love the new van, we’ve had our Swift for 4 years now and it’s been brilliant. You mentioned the ridiculous control panel on the fridge that operates/beeps every time you brush past it. A simple fix is to fit a removable strip of clear acrylic over the panel, Lost Weekends Caravan channel have a video on how to do it. Super easy and a very neat solution.

Congratulations on your new caravan looks nice hope you make loads of new memories. Quick question does your tow vehicle have an Alko compatible tow ball the quick glimpse I got on your vlog it didn't look like you had one installed. Its very important that you have the correct towball for the Alko hitch you risk damaging yournew caravan without it. Hopefully I'm wrong safe travels 👍

Lovely caravan ,we brought a new swift chilgrove from Sussex caravan in October still on drive covered up not used yet ,out at Easter first time went from fixed bed for more room .

I love my dealer special, although a different dealer, it has all of the same features. I purchased a little sea through cover off of eBay for the fridge controls, it attached with Velcro so easily removable should you need to make any adjustments. It only cost a couple of quid and it’s stopped us from accidentally changing the settings. We’ve used our caravan all through the winter and found that if you just leave the bathroom door ajar slightly the heat gets in there no problem. Enjoy your new caravan and can’t wait to see all of the adventures you have in it.

Fully support this suggestion. Even if Mac already has a cordless drill, one from Lidl/Aldi with a small (2Ah) battery is perfect for the van and doesn’t cost the earth. We have one (Lidl Parkside brand) for our van.
My garage looks like a Makita showroom (avid DIYer) but the Parkside drill was less than £35 for the drill, battery and charger - these all live in the van so you are never without them, especially the charger!
Also you will learn what setting to use on the drill’s “screw” clutch, so you just wind the corner steady down roughly level, and finish it to the clutch setting - never too hard or wobbly, and after a few days you can retighten to the same setting if things settle a little.
Great suggestion, and using the German discount stores you get something with a 3 year warranty that doesn’t break the bank.

When we got out first caravan years ago,the person we bought it from advised us not to put any tinned food or anything heavy in the top cupboards cos if one dropped out accidentally it would very likely chip the kitchen counter.Happy travels in your lovely new van!

Not had time to watch it all but one thing for sure you will love not having to make the bed up each night. We bought a coachman coming up two years ago, four berth doible dinnete, first couple weeks was all fun as new toy but soon got fed up making the bed, it was either change the van or give up vanning, we changed the van to a fixed bed and what a difference the whole thing made. good luck with the van.

We did the same last year traded in our 2 birth Compass Corona as we didn't like having to make the bed nightly and pack it away again in the morning. Our Sprite 4 is also a dealer special called Daresbury from Leisure Sales in Sandbach. Our only issues are the lack of the set of draws in the front and also the pull out table. Also the shorter front seats are getting a while to get used to. All in all though were very happy the fixed bed makes all the difference.

Hi mac and sarah😊 your caravan is identical to ours.. we purchased and collected ours from Robinsons caravans based in Chesterfield. We’ve had two nights break at Henley on Thames last weekend and off to a local site here in Kent this weekend. Lots of other trips already booked. Happy travels ahead 😊😊

Hi Mac and Sarah,
Lovely to see the new van, and you seemed really happy with it,
We have a dealer special of the same van, we moved from a 2 berth and yes the fixed bed is a must now.
If you are like us, you will keep moving things about for the first few trips, but we are now sorted.
Under bed storage, we have put in some non slip mats to stop things sliding about whilst travelling.
We have also changed the little spots above the bed for directional dimmable spots with usb ports built in.
The fridge you can get or make a little perspex cover that sticks with velcro over the controls stops it changing everytime you brush past it.
In the wet room we added a battery powered sensor light for night time use.

Hi Bill, thanks for watching! We've seen Caravans in the US but they're very different. A channel we watch called Endless Adventure have one as well as a vintage RV. Theirs is called a Black Series. It looks very rugged and off road style.

This is the first video I've watched of yours. I absolutely loved your easy presentation style and enthusiasm for your new caravan. It's quite a stunner by the way, although the layout would not work for us.
We were new to caravanning last year and these vlogs provide us with a mine of useful info and tips. It's always helpful to see how others go about enjoying themselves and setting up their caravans.
3 suggestions - a drill and extension socket to speed up lowering and raising your steadies; an automatically engaged motor mover for me; and my wife loves her electric egg boiler which eliminates steam in the cooking area if like us you fancy a soft boiled egg or eggs for brekkie.

We were sceptical at first, but we have used it at least twice every time during longer trips. The egg boiler is made by Duronic. Bought it off Amazon. Very impressive lightweight and affordable. You might have to write off a "snotty" 🥚 in order to achieve your preferred consistency though. All the best ❤️ Graham and Pam
Nice caravan tour.✅✅ The width of the bed seems to be smaller compared to the other caravan. I did not hear any comment about that.

We are both so very pleased for you and Dozer with your beautiful new van. It is always fun and games finding new homes for all you bits and bobs but that's all part of the adventure.
As we write this we are at Walnut Tree Farm in Norfolk in our van and wifey has just beaten me at Jaipur (I seem to remember Sarah beat you in most of your matches Mac 🤔😂).
The rules took at least two glasses of wine to understand but we are getting the hang of it 🤪

My mum and dad have just got a 2023 Pegasus around 22 feet in length with our full awning on we just unzip the back end and walk easily out that end instead going all the way to the front where you normally come in
