This car has that deep, abiding wow factor on so many levels. Wow. Gee Ford, can we have cars that look this good once again? Thanks for this one, Lou.
1969 Mustang. Boss 429. Black. The best looking car ever made. It just doesn't get any better than this. It's "The Going Thing". Cool..groovy...dig'n it.
It is wonderful car to look at and admire what it was built for. The car did easy 13- 14 sec quarter mile times and with some simple tuning could get into the 12 sec range. This was Ford's answer to the HEMI and it put out more than the advertised 375 horse power. Produced only in 69 and 70 and not installed in any other body style.
I'd like to respond to a few comments made. First thing, this is a restored Boss 429. Therefore some bare metal parts like the original exhaust system after 40 years gets surface rust and minor pitting. The original exhaust was replaced with genuine Ford exhaust dated 1-69 , the same date code as the original system. Dave has photos of NOS system next to the original exhaust the car was born with highlighting the date codes and engineering numbers. The original trunk mount battery had expired and was missing when Dave got the car. A NOS Date code correct Autolite group 29 battery and BB28 vent caps were installed. All original parts, upgraded by NOS assembly line parts were saved and tagged. The value of the NOS exhaust system today would exceed the cost of 5 new Boss 429's in 1969 if you could even find one at any price? Maybe that is a contributing factor why many choose to not start or drive their cars when restored to this level. Maybe a owner not having the original date coded exhaust on their car is why some will cry about not starting a car at a static car show? The Mustang club of America, SAAC and MCACN do not require the vehicle to start for their top concours classes. Don't feel too sorry for the owners who miss out on the thrill of driving their Trailer Queen , more often than not they have a cool driver in the garage too.

Lou thanks for sharing this beautiful Boss 429. Wonderful to see exactly how the car would have been delivered and absolutely authentic for those of us who are into that sort of stuff. I would love to examine in detail the specifics of that car especially considering what Ford had to do to install those monster engines in a Mustang. I was also surprised you didn't go into more detail about the best trunk treasures which is the Boss 9 cars having that very specific trunk mounted battery. In any regard great video of a great car. It was misunderstood by the 375 HP when a Corvette had over 400 hp at the same price. The carbs CFM was lower than the BOSS 302 which was FORD's plan to tone down the HP on paper but be scalable to use headers and a bigger carb for racing . Some of those BOSS 9's sat on the lot because the Window sticker chased buyer away that bought the MACH I 351 or the 390 that was still an upgrade. I remember when the 1970 came out and I wished the 1969 had the 1970 rear lights since the 4 headlights really stood out . The colors I liked on that BOSS was Black Jade, raven black and Candy apple red .
@@RoadRunnergarage8570 True, the HEMI Cuda Convertible in 1971 wasn't cheap . The base Barracuda was $2700 while the Convertible added $400 and then the upgrade to a Cuda Package was another $300+ . Then add the HEMI package for about $800 and maybe Option it up from there . The insurance was high a well . But now one of them sold for over $3 million.

Hi George Mattar, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) I like driving them too. To nice of a car to not share, and the "trunk & treat" collection is amazing! Lou
Thats insane! Sorry, i can not resist; Original warning label to the actual owner; Starting the engine and driving could cause some satisfaction. Please be aware that the car is 'equipped' with enough gasoline to keep your satisfaction ongoing. That he's not driven could be explained that the car is equipped with wooden pistons and wooden exhaust system, Ford Premium Option SL29 Ford, exotic woods dep. Ford Fire extinguisher is sold separately. Seriously, that thng should stand in the Ford factory Museum.
Hi junkman, "Original warning label to the actual owner; Starting the engine and driving could cause some satisfaction. Please be aware that the car is 'equipped' with enough gasoline to keep your satisfaction ongoing" That's funny :-) The car is AWESOME, Owner has right to not start it, and I would have like to have heard it too, and yet He's still coll enough to share it with us, and all the trunk treats are worth it alone. Stay tuned, there will be more we "fire up" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
When you're round at the Corvette ntnl's, a mint '65 366 c.i. F.I. avail? For the fuel usage i have memories to old Rolls Royce paperwork. They just used similar phrases - phrases in their own terminology. And sometimes silly like this; 'You need Avon tires to drive your new Corniche' etc. Back to the Boss: when he never drives it, the engine corrode on the inside, and the body too. Or it locks up. Moisture is the enemy of any metal.
I don't get it Lou, I just don't get it. All these guys that trailer queen these monsters/works of art...its like marrying a super model and never touching her.
I'm sorry lou I didn't quite follow the car has 7000 miles obviously it's been run despite the fact that it still has all the original stickers on it but because it's a show car has no coolant oil or gasoline in it and therefore the guy doesn't run the motor?
Hi acts2211, I like driving and hearing them run too, however this one right now is not running. Regardless of running, I thought it was way to nice a car so I wanted to make sure and feature it, Lou

@@loucostabile Aye. It is a VERY hard toss up to want to drive and enjoy a wonderful car and yet, I do understand preserving it as you have presented... Which I don't deny is wonderful!
Hi Lou, on the face of it some people have more money than sense, the car is an amazing reference point for other restorers as it has been done to the highest standards, but let's be clear it had an 18 month restoration on a 7000 mile car that one assumes sat unused somewhere for probably 35 years, perhaps due to illness or death or simple old fashioned eccentricity, BUT it had been driven. To be correctly survivor restored it should have been restored to 7000 mile condition not to the day it rolled off the production line. As they were surely delivered new to the dealer from the factory with oils, coolant etc in them, then leaving the fluids out in my opinion is NOT correct, perhaps he should take the air out of the tyres lol 🙄🙄. Perhaps he has another 429 which gets driven, in which case by all means keep the car as a museum piece but to me it's a great tragedy that a car built by Ford to move under it's own power won't occasionally get fired up even if it only moves a few hundred feet under it's own power a couple of times a year. Nevertheless the Boss 429 is certainly amongst my favourite Mustangs and it was a pleasure to see the car, thanks Lou and thanks to the owner for allowing you to feature the car 👍

This has been my dream car since I can remember! This video makes me so happy and angry at the same time! I feel like I don't need to explain the happiness part of it, but the anger is caused by such a beauty not being driven!
Hi Marlon, Car = :-) Driven = :-( I like driving them too, Lou
To drive or not to drive that beautiful car is 64k ?
I like driving them :-)
if a car aint doing what its meant to do its a waste of metal ...I drive my 71 hemi cuda and love it
Hi jim gee, I like driving them too. Too good of a car not to share with you, and the "trunk & treat" section was amazing. Stay tuned, and I hope you enjoy the next episode, Lou
@@loucostabile i love your channel and maybe one day if we ever meet at an event you can show case one of my cars
beautiful beautiful car Lou but no sound
Hi GS, I would have liked to hear this one too, however the car was too good to not share with you, and the trunk & treats are worth it alone :-) Lou
Wow nice. Needs to be driven. I've got 60k fun miles on my 08 gt500 and wouldn't have it any other way. Drive it
I like driving them too.
Of all the cars on the planet, this is my number one dream car. Nothing else will do.
And I would drive it, because I don't give a sh!t about shows and awards and all that nonsense. It might as well be a diamond or a painting if you don't DRIVE it.
Hi Oldtimer f7, Glad this is your "dream car", and you have great taste :-) Think you'll enjoy this video too, Lou th-cam.com/video/VIdJojqX0tI/w-d-xo.html
Doesn't run because the engine's built to such high standards? This guest must've had an interesting upbringing.
I would have like to hear it run, however way to nice for me to not share.
Watch out for finger prints staining the memorabilia. Should be wearing white gloves. Careful not to breath on the glass might fog it!
Easy Ron. The Guy is kind enough to share with you, give him a break.
Shout out to Bob Perkins. Another gem!
Happy to read you enjoy this "gem" :-)
Drive that Car man! If you don’t, your wasting her beautiful life! That car was made to Run, and Hard!

A six figure car all day.. Probably better than it was when it left the Ford Factory...
Thanks for viewing and sharing your thoughts on this car :-)
Too bad it's not driven.. He has A TON of restraint not to launch it down a 1/4 mile just once...
The high sticker price back then means rarity and big prices today...

True, the HEMI Cuda Convertible in 1971 wasn't cheap . The base Barracuda was $2700 while the Convertible added $400 and then the upgrade to a Cuda Package was another $300+ .
Then add the HEMI package for about $800 and maybe Option it up from there .
The insurance was high a well .
But now one of them sold for over $3 million.
BADDEST CAR ON THE PLANET 🌏

Now that is the real John Wick car!
Nice :-)
A great Boss Mustang, but a shame not to use it occasionally.
Wonderful Boss, and I like driving them too. Grateful to share this car with you :-)
I'd have to drive that thing
Me too.
Absolutely Beautiful but you cant tell me that they are all the original tags like you state at the start of the video. Not a chance!
Hi ScottFogarty124, There is this story about a man named Thomas who didn't believe Jesus until he showed him the holes in his hands :-) Stay well, Lou
son...you,ve been on some streak lately havent you?....homer after homer...haha but nolol. man-alive that thing must still have factory-air in the tires... before i saw what the car was, and that he just squirts a lil mobil 1 in the plug-holes and hand-cranks it over now and then. i thought it might be the "tappin the gas" shotgun/mustang...but who could blame him for mummifyin that jewel, i know i couldnt...befitting it was you who filed this stallion, if they,re out there...Lou will find em.....kutgw!!!
p.s.....bet hes got the speedometer cable pulled and plugged so he can kinda push it around without "clickin any" more...the big-spline toploader will oil itself then also if he hasnt pulled the driveshaft....haha/love it!!!
The "Babe Ruth" of TH-cam Car Channels :-) I like driving them, so I'd have to drive it every now and then, Lou
yep...and he hit 714 smackers too, so you,ve got some paddling to do you yet son...haha.....Lou, back in my day, we called the 427 SOHC the "Cammer" alright....but we didnt call them an "09" or a "BOSS-9"...they were known as ...."the Shotgun-Motor"...until this 1...my favorite was...."Pops Toy."
That white boss 429 lettering really stands out against the raven black paint job it looks kick-ass imo😅..!!
You're right :-)
Reminds me of a 1976 Toyota Celica GT. :-) I'm bow tie all the way Brothers!
That made me laugh out loud :-) Thank you!

Nice :-)
I have a very special place For Mustangs expressionlessly the boss 429 and the 302❤
Why are these car's so under valued?
Not sure.
Beautiful. But a total waste. I would never drive it in rain, but it is still a car. Great job as always Lou.
Hi George Mattar, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) I like driving them too. To nice of a car to not share, and the "trunk & treat" collection is amazing! Lou
Thats insane! Sorry, i can not resist;
Original warning label to the actual owner; Starting the engine and
driving could cause some satisfaction. Please be aware that the car
is 'equipped' with enough gasoline to keep your satisfaction ongoing.
That he's not driven could be explained that the car is equipped with
wooden pistons and wooden exhaust system, Ford Premium Option
SL29 Ford, exotic woods dep. Ford Fire extinguisher is sold separately.
Seriously, that thng should stand in the Ford factory Museum.
Hi junkman, "Original warning label to the actual owner; Starting the engine and
driving could cause some satisfaction.
Back to the Boss: when he never drives it, the engine corrode on the inside,
and the body too. Or it locks up. Moisture is the enemy of any metal.
I don't get it Lou, I just don't get it. All these guys that trailer queen these monsters/works of art...its like marrying a super model and never touching her.
I'd have to touch her :-) This one was too good to not share with you, and the "trunk & treats" was WAY GOOD.
LIKE.
:-)
I'm sorry lou I didn't quite follow the car has 7000 miles obviously it's been run despite the fact that it still has all the original stickers on it but because it's a show car has no coolant oil or gasoline in it and therefore the guy doesn't run the motor?
Hi acts2211, I like driving and hearing them run too, however this one right now is not running. Regardless of running, I thought it was way to nice a car so I wanted to make sure and feature it, Lou
No engine sound no watch the vid. Sorry Lou not your fault
Stay tuned, we'll have sounds on more to come Bob Bob :-)
Come on bro!! Use that boss!! It's meant to be driven. That's boring it is just sitting there to look good only. It is designed to be driven!
Hi Eddie Hizo, I like when you can drive them too, however this car was too nice not to share, Lou
Nice Display, though “ seems” like needs to,be ready to drive or Drive (?)........
Hi Opera, Yes, I like driving, or riding in them too, however this one was to nice not to share with you, Lou
Drive that boss and pretend you are John Wick!
I like driving them too.
SO many of these cars are just trailer queens. I can appreciate it - but only to a degree. I don't get the enjoyment of it just sitting somewhere and "Oh, look, *I* own it..."
Hi English2Elvish, I like driving them too, however there was so much wonderful info on this car I thought I'd share with you. Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you enjoy, Lou

Hi lyonheart84 UK exotic fruit growing enthusiast, Happy to read of your favorite Mustangs :-) I like driving the too, and it was fun to video and share this "time capsule" with you, Lou

He damn well better run some sort of preservative through that motor, or it'll seize.
I'm sure he knows that seeing as he builds motors
Thanks for sharing this tip David.
