Great review. I bought mine original one a few years ago based on your review. It is still cutting and works perfectly. Good to know there is an upgrade to buy in a future :)
I’ve had the one cut OG for years, granted the cordless battery last about 10 minutes now LOL but still plugged in the wall. It cuts as fast as it was brand-new.
Nice Feature this turbo mode, so you can faster overheat your blades, and buy a new one. Rarely a customer use to oil the blades B4 usage. Another good thing, there is no more 2* AAA batteries inside, so you could easy replace it with a new pair. 5€ on eBay . I have my old Remington now 30 years. Ceramic blades. Works like charm
Nice, this is the review I was looking for. I have the original shortcut (we still can't get the new turbo model in the USA), it works fine but I've always been underwhelmed by the length of the cut. Also now that I've had it a few years the battery doesn't last very long, the motor definitely lost a lot of it's power, and the blades could use a replacement. I honestly don't use it that often anyway as I was wet razor or foil shaving my head most of the time. Lately I've been just saving time and skin irritation and dealing with the sandpaper feel of a buzz cut. If the shortcut had more power and a closer cut I would use it more often. This video gives me hope for the new turbo model.
The other big difference between the two is the batteries. The normal quick cut uses a Li-on 14500 750mah 3.7v while the pro uses a three pack of the same battery. If you are able to do basic soldering, you can replace the battery in the normal version for about $5, and then be able to indefinitely use it. You can also hook it up to a USB to remington plug connected to a power bank and the unit will act like it has a secondary battery source.
I have both. Much prefer the OG, easier to hold and the power button is in the right place and easy to use. The slider on the new one is horrible. Battery failed on the OG, so I changed it following somones guide on YT, and still use it every week. If I could find another cheap I would buy it. Only problem I have is the teeth fall off the #2 guide - happened on both.
I'm just north of 30 and I'm not bald but the hair on the top of my head is getting very thin and it kinda looks bad if I let it grow out so I just buzz cut it and I've found the quick cut (regular) to be everything I need combined with my beard trimmer for difficult to reach spots, I can buzz cut my head and trim my beard in less than 10 minutes so I just do it once every two weeks and it looks great, but I'm not sure if I would be happy with the quick cut if I had an actual bald spot because I'd probably just shave my head at that point. But for my use it is excellent.
We probably will get the new version in the US soon. When they first released the original version it was out in the UK and Australia for a year or two first, same thing with their rotary head shaver. We probably will see it in the US by the end of this year.
I live in India and I've been shaving my head for about 6 years now, but i just still can't get myself to get out of the house without my cap on, mainly because I can't stand the heat. Every time I try I end up with a headache or feel dizzy.
I shave my head with regular clippers as I go to a number 1 and not to the skin like most purpose made head shavers. Can either of these accommodate my needs?
I bought the Pro model months ago and haven't looked back. It has reduced the time it needs to cut my hair to around 25% of the time needed with regular clippers. Can't recommend enough!!
Hello, BaldCafe !!! I'm just curious... I have a "00000" blade for my Oster clippers for a very close-to-the-skin cut. How close do these Remington's cut in comparison to a "00000" blade? Which one is closer? Love your videos !!!
@@Baldcafe I’ve tried the self bronzer rated 1,2 and 3 on Amazon and they all work but any spots on head get darker too. I just wondered bc of all the info you put out I would try if you recommend.
I returned the normal OG cause the lower cut power! working cordeless has lower power instead the cable, so this is inacettable imho. I would tempted to go with the Pro version at this point. from review it seem a far superior
I have one of these… but I find the stubble to be that bit too long after using it…. Can you recommend another product that will cut the hair shorter then this product without cutting the hair off completely? I like to have just a little hair/stubble on my head to give it some dimension rather than clean shaving… at the moment I use 3 different cutters to achieve this… ur help would be appreciated x
#Baldcafe I have the old one and love the old case you mentioned. Does the pro version fit in the old case? I don't need all the combs as I don't use them so carrying with the old case is a winner for me and hence my question.
@@Baldcafe Thank you but having now bought the old style one I quite like the bag it comes with because it can also take the plug and the lead whereas of course the old type couldn't. I don't use any combs. Btw, I love your videos.
A lot of unanswered questions. So how does one cut a straight line at a 0 since this is curved? Is there blade adjustable lever? Has anyone tried doing a fade with these?
No adjustable leaver. The blade is curved to the shape of your head but if you cut at a perpendicular angle you will cut a straight line. No I’ve never tried doing a fade with these since there is no adjustable leaver
You said the Pro was ahead of the Original with its accessories, yet you just said the Original had the better carrying bag? What is the price difference between these two? And also, what's the difference with the Remington Ultimate compared to the Original and Pro versions? I haven't come across a review for it yet.
@@Baldcafe I'm thinking about the Remington Rapid Cut Ultimate and those types. I don't fancy the RX7 style of shavers as they'd give me skin issues. Cheers from Down Under! 🙃
I must have purchased my original Quick Cut after you but mine has the bag that comes with the Pro, that might just be the new norm for Remington unfortunately
Disappointing to see that Remington North America has basically gone ahead and marketed the regular version as the pro only adding the extra guards. It’s called the ‘Short Cut’. No turbo mode, same body and design as the regular. Cheap tricks, doesn’t encourage me to give them my business. Any chance you can recommend a competitors product that does the same job?
It's also true for the combs, yes, I've ordered the 4300 since the battery on my 4250 ran out and the charger, the blades and the combs are interchangeable, so I have some replacement parts for the new one
pls start doing vlogs, ur like bald and bankrupt but more likeable and he doesnt travel to asia as much so those kinda vlogs are really unique. Keep it up
Love my regular Quick Cut, it gave me the freedom I now have now to live without fear of balding. I am now going back to the barbers having found out no one gave two hoots when I shaved my head to nothing... 😂
Great review, but honestly. Any head trimmer will do a decent job! It's just if you want cored/non corded. Battery life etc. The actual cut is exactly the same!
It’s a haircut that is easy to maintain when you have less hair. You aren’t getting short back and sides long on top anymore are you. Where is the long on top coming from?
The stache with the stubble. Iconic look, I’m never shaving mine!
I’ve been using the Quick Cut for years. The battery wore out, so I’m on my second one! They do a great job!
What Remington needs for those is a Zero Blade like Brio has. So that you can go really as close as possible
They actually brought one out like the Phillips one blade but it wasn’t good. Was a weird design. I did a review
Charlie Bronson doing clipper reviews.

Can it work on the mains cord if the battery runs out?
If I plug it while charging it turns on.
