@@GeorgeLista Yes I did get another RX5, paid £48 at Argos about 3 weeks ago. Could ramble for hours but minimal ergonomics and extensive shaving head flex 'improvements' are unnecessary. The RX5 is also a 5 year old design, if that's all they could come up with for the RX7, it says A LOT about the RX5.
After much research of popular head shavers I decided to buy the RX7 and used it today. It’s awesome, really smooth with some shaving cream and warm water. Although I can’t speak so much for the other brands I can say I’m very happy with the RX7 and am no longer looking for head shavers. 😊
Hi Eric. They are both the same shaver, the only difference is the Boss has a chrome look plastic section whereas the RX7 has is a metallic type greenish color. The differences was what a buyer got with these and the price (US as time of reordering was overpriced). These differences led me to purchase both and review them separately for US guys and outside the US. There was no Balder Boss going back a few months and only the RX7.
I would suggest Amazon, but as you said they don't have it. I contacted Remington directly when I could not buy them online at other stores and they could send them. Some copy cats do make replacements for the RX5 but I am not sure for the RX7 (I am not recommending the copycat blades though). Try Remington and if you can let me know if you have success or not.
Any advantage in ease/time of cleaning in the Rx7? I have the Rx5, it's nice but it takes a while to clean the razor properly, I shave every 2 days so if there's an advantage then it's worth looking into.
I've been using my RX5 for a few years now. But for a closer head shave, the Braun 9 is much better. Had a look on-line. The RX7 is just under £65 on Amazon(3rd December 2024). Compared to £78 in Argos.
£65 is pretty good for the Remington RX5. I agree that the S9 does give a closer shave, but it does not have the ergonomicly friendly head shaver design that's convenient. Thanks for sharing with us 👍
Thanks for the analysis! I'm thinking of buying my first shaver which would be for the head, however, I would need one for the body as well. Initially I thought about buying this Remington and also buying a Braun or Philips groomer and looking at options I have seen that the Braun Series 5 shaver comes with an accessory for the body and I thought that maybe I could just buy a shaver for the whole body, however, I have not found any comparison between this Remington and the Braun I guess because they are totally different shavers. If the most important thing is to be able to shave your head without the help of another person without taking too long, which one do you think is better? Do you think it would be better to buy 2 different shavers or is it better to buy just one shaver to get good results for everything?
I generally like to use a shaver/trimmer that is dedicated to that task (i.e, head shaver for head shaving, body groomer for body grooming etc.). I am yet to find a shaver or even body groomer that shaves my body (chest etc.) well enough, although the Philips I have used are not too bad. If you are looking for what shavers I rate the best out of what I have used for head shaving, then do check out the best head shavers video, that should help. Out of the RX5 and Rx7 they are both good, but I prefer the Rx7 as stated in the video. I would go with getting the right shaver/trimmer that it is designed for, you'll get a better job done (there are exceptions, but nit many). I hope that helps somewhat! Do check the other videos and my website for other reviews (lots on the website). Good questions, thanks.
Great video mate thanks, gonna grab the Rx7 I think, how close a shave does it get im a usual razor shaver guy, want something thats similar ish if possible, thanks again
Thanks for your comment and I'm glad it helped you. It wont get you a razor close shave. These are more about the convenience and no mess more so than what a razor can provide. Some guys just cant take to them and go back to a razor while others are happy with the electrics.
Appreciate your video. I have the RX7. Reading your indication that the blade head for the RX7 differs from the head for the RX5 (more readily available), do you have recommendations (especially for North America) for obtaining the RX7 replacement shaver head? Thanks.
Thank you for your response. I have the RX7 - purchased from a European seller. After having read your review of the RX7 and details about the Balder Pro’s shaver head, I am thinking that the Balder Boss replacement head is a match for the RX7. Would you agree?
@michaelb8227 Yes. Definitely will fit. I own all of them and have switched all blades. You might need to contact Remington USA for replacements. I have checked Amazon but can't see them available. When they were not available for the RX7 in the UK, I contacted Remington, and they could send them. Remington are weird with their blade replacement scenarios. Let us know how it goes if you can!
Many thanks for sharing your experiences and providing input. Amazon Canada sells the Balder Boss replacement shaver head, but currently out of stock with expectation of being re-stocked. Regarding ordering from Remington, Remington U.S. indicated it does not ship to Canada when I inquired about purchasing RX7 (hence my purchasing head shaver from European seller). I’ll re-explore purchasing replacement head from Remington U.S. Definitely will provide an update.
Unfortunately, the RX5 and RX7 blades are slightly different. I remember one fitted on another (can't remember which way around), but they other left the blades rattling. The top section of the RX7 blades is slightly deeper, too, as it has the extra blade flex.
The RX7 seeks to fitvon the RX5, but the RX5 head won't go on the RX7. They look almost identical. However, on very close inspection, there are slight differences. It's odd that the RX5 will take the RX7 Head though. Hope that helps!
I can fit the RX7 blade on my RX5, but it's kind of loose and the rotary blades do not connect right (rotate correctly) when it is switched on (they rattle). I can also fit the RX5 blade of the RX7 which fits better, but its not right. I did contact Remington about this and they said they are different. Best to use the correct blades!
I would not use it on the face as it is not designed very well for that. You can use it for facial shaving if needed, but a facial shaver and razor are much better. Thanks!
Having awful trouble with the rx7 sometimes it won’t turn on sometimes the full charge only lasts one shave u can’t count on it. Reviews seem slightly better in rx5
Get in touch with Remington. You should get a replacement on your warranty. That's a bugger but I hope you get a replacement sorted. Remington are fairly easy to deal with.

Nice one fella... Just what I was lookin for... Perfect👊
Thanks. Glad to be of service to the brotherhood of head shaving gents 👍 😁
Used an RX5 for 3 years, not even a flinch during this time. It suddenly died a week ago and I'm absolutely getting another one.
Three years, that's good and about right for an electric head shaver. Thanks for sharing, and it makes sense to stick to a new RX5. 👍
Why not get the RX7? Black Friday deals. Still getting the 5?
