    Great video Don. You solved a couple of config questions I had on DMR and also a bug that cropped up last night when my existing config got corrupted and I lost the video screen. You ROCK!

    Thanks for posting this video. Picked one up on a trip through Atlanta, and this step by step was great. Helped set it up easily. Much appreciated!

    Wow Don, 3:30 in the morning wife walks into office and says STOP!! Putting it together was no problem, then I spent the next 3 1/2 Hours cussing and yelling at it because it would not work. Kept googling and no luck. Finally did what I should have done in the first place came here and your's was the 2nd video I watched had it up and running about 30mins later. Still have to setup radio but I feel much better now always thinking what did I miss? Maybe I accidently broke the screen, I knew I never touched it! Was a great relief when it started and then flashed the D-Star Logo. Will get back to it Monday going away with wife and after this night od horror she deserves it! 73, K9HDT

    Hi Don. Awesome video. I have my Zumspot, ordered a case and am getting an Icom ID-4100 as I will be using it at home. Great info and also watched the update video of firmware and, no doubt, will be watching again. Very much appreciate the quality and explanation of exactly what you are doing.
    Thank you. KK7XE

    This VS Open spot ? I'd think I'll to the Open spot. This Zum just looks way to old school and sees REALLY slow. How many times did it have to reboot? 5?

    Man you made it a breeze. Hamradioconcepts has a video that I tried to follow and was lost immediately.
    Thank You!
    Only question I have is my default REF is 30c for the pi-star. With my id51a I tried to unlink and change reflectors but it won’t!
    Do I have to change default REF in configuration every time?

    Hi, this might be a dumb question, but can this be used with an analog radio or does it have to be a digital one ie d-star, fusion, dmr, etcetera. Thanks.

    I got a jumbospot, basically same thing, it's a pi zero with an mmdvm hat in a metal case. I got it but the instructions don't show anything about connecting to it or configuration. All the videos I've seen they are using a PC and don't show how they connected to it. I don't have a PC. I only have an Android phone.

    How does this device compare in performance to the Shark RF Open Spot 3? I've been thinking about the Open Spot but it's so expensive compared to this...

    Got to 12:40 on the video. "This is where, if everything is working right..." but apparently not everything is working right. I put in my Wifi password (double checked on a laptop), clicked "Save (and connect)", and rebooted the hotspot. It won't connect to my wireless network. Now I can't seem to reconnect to the pi-star wifi hotspot to reconfigure the WiFi section. Can I tap into the HDMI output and use a USB keyboard & mouse to get into the config?

    • @nomadlab9992
      @nomadlab9992 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disregard, I removed the SD card and inserted it into my ChromeBook. From there I was able to save the wpa_supplicant.conf file back to the root of the boot partition and it connected to the network. Thanks for the video!

    So how do you pick a frequency to use?

  • @rohnkd4hct260
    @rohnkd4hct260 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    can not get it to work. it sees the internet, broadcast to my radio but does not hear my radio. tried to set offset gone from 250 to 10000 both + and -

  • @W4TRI
    @W4TRI 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Negative offset with 0.00? That flies in the face of all prior logic. Why is it required or is it a Kenwood thing? My MD-380 worked fine when I used a simplex frequency on the Jumbospot. (Same thing as Zumspot just a DIY version) Just wondering how the hotspot knows the difference.

    • @w6gps
      @w6gps  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not a Just a Kenwood thing but also for Icom The Pi-Star in Dstar mode needs to see this.

    • @w6gps
      @w6gps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One more thing this was done primary for DSTAR and I don't own a DMR radio..but for DSTAR and PI-Star you need minus shift and 000 offset

  • @JustLearning

    Still not sure why you'd put the Node Type to Public? You would be responsible for everything that goes through your node and compromise your Wifi Security. Why? On a positive not I want to give credit where credit is due. The step to reboot vs shut down helped me clear a problem I was having with a Jumbo spot. Thanks.
