You touched on it at point no.3 or no.4 about the balance of Yin and Yang. Drinking cold water none-stop (like mainstream western culture) can cause to long term health issues that are hard to diagnose in the western medicine field. Just like everything else, it’s good in moderation, but once you abuse it that’s a problem.
Also right after working out it’s best not to chug cold/freezing water. It’s the equivalent of dumping cold water on a hot stone, the stone cracks
It's more it causes excess stress on the system and slows down the absorption of water as it has to be warmed up to close to body temperature. SO in effect you actually are burning more calories just to absorb that ice cold water.
I've tried all temps, and I just tend to drink more water if it's cold, even in winter. Hot or warm water fills me up faster and I don't drink as much. Kind of a problem when you're prone to kidney stones...

As a Westerns, once you start drinking warm water you'll find it that it becomes really hard to drink cold water, especially in the morning. I thought it was strange at first but 10 years later I'm still doing it.
So true. I only drink cold water if it's the only thing available. Room temperature or hot is my preference. I feel better. My body feels so relaxed and balanced.
I'm American but I grew up in Malaysia and now all my Asian friends here in the states say I am a true Asian because I prefer my water at least room temperature, if not a little warm.
I haaaate ice and my American friend always fusses that I don't have an ice maker lol.
I'm from Florida and drank ice cold drinks my whole life. I moved to western Washington almost 10 yrs ago. I didn't even notice until my best friend came to visit for my wedding that I didn't use ice anymore.
She's like "you're gonna just drink room temp like that???" She was hilariously appalled Lmao I figured maybe climate has something to do with it? 🤷🏻♀️

You better drop your hot water drinking communist practices, patriot.
wow that's a hard one.. I understand, I agree it all makes sense... but OH MY COLD DRINKS... i'm from S.America, even our winter is hot!
You get the point, it's not simply which one is better, it depends on the climate and the diet. I live in North part of China, my high school teacher used to pay an academic visiting to USA for several months, when he came back he told us he kept drinking warm/hot water in the first weeks and soon he got aphthous ulcer, from then on he realized why the hotel was offering ice. He started drinking ice water and the ulcer all gone. He guess it's because the diet and climate were different from we had in China. Me myself I drink both, either is fine, depends on which one makes me feel better. If cold drinks make you feel comfortable then why not?
You can boil water and leave it until it's cool. In Chinese it's called "liang kai shui"
@@lemons2300 Isn't that called boiled water? If it's just boiled and still hot then it's called hot water?
@@eleongo I think in Chinese you can just refer to hot water as "kai shui" (which technically means boiled water) because hot water is the Chinese standard, as the video may have also implied.
So by saying "liang kai shui" (which translates to boiled water that's been cooled down) it specifies that the water is at least no longer hot.

@@jarls5890 the same logic could be applied to eating ice, there’s a reason of you wouldn’t eat snow to quench yourself, you could but your body would need much more energy to melt it than dinking hot water
@@xichen4926 The caloric value needed to heat up - or cool down - the fluid intake can be easily calculated. But you can eat snow to quench yourself (plenty snow here...I'm Norwegian). Not very pleasant as it would be similar to chewing ice cream.

I live in China for 16 years now and it's all true. Drinking warm water feels much better, your stomach is not acid after meals or during meals or feel "heavy". You touched on it at point no.3 or no.4 about the balance of Yin and Yang. But the most important reason why hot water is preferred over cold water is that cold water, especially ice cold water, depletes the stores of qi energy in the body. Most Chinese medical sinsehs will advise against drinking ice cold water, and a lot of people who do Chinese kungfu, Chinese qigong meditation, all say the same thing. Your body needs to normalize the ice-cold water that you drink to become body temperature, and over the course of the years and years of drinking cold water, the body depletes qi topping up, eventually leading to diseases and all sorts of body conditions.
