Would like to go back in time and ask them why the heck they would cover up that beautiful tile in the first place! Wow reminds me of the recent discovery of The 500-Year-Old Frescoes Discovered During Restoration of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco!
How exciting! I did a side job, 30 years ago, in Berkley California in an old old apartment building lobby. We found beautiful tiles like yours, under the old 50's linoleum! It was beautiful! DEFINITELY a labor of love!
Your overview narration cracked me up! Fantastic job, anytime someone takes the time to preserve artisan architecture, I'm all in. Major props to you and your team for all your hard work!
My mother had wall to wall carpet put in our house.......over maple hardwood I thought she was nuts for doing that......... you did a nice job on that floor it's beautiful
Wish that she had a TH-cam channel! Please consider starting one? 🤞 OMG, the results are amazing. Sometimes, in this industry (decorating &/or renovations) we get lucky & the ugly new, protects the beautiful old. If I'm _ever_ fortunate enough to visit the area, I WILL be making a point to come & visit those wonderful floors! Thank you for sharing. 😍WoWzers! They turned out to be absolutely _gorgeous,_ eh?! 😍 *hugs from this Canadian decorator, to you & your whole team. Great job gals! 💕💕
Honestly, a bank would cover up that tile flooring because of safety issues. Wet floors are slippery, especially when they're wet. Lots of senior citizens still got _into_ the bank to do their banking business. Slippery floors are a constant threat of falls & lawsuits. Whereas thick ugly carpeting is much better for them to clean & maintain high safety standards. Look on the brightside, all that nasty carpet & glue completely saved that beautiful tile & grout. Now they can be enjoyed for decades to come by the new owners & visitors. Sometimes we get lucky & the ugly new, protects the old beautiful. If I'm _ever_ fortunate enough to visit the area, I WILL be making a point to coming & visit those floors! 😍WoW! They turned out to be simply _gorgeous,_ eh?! 😍 *hugs from this Canadian gal.
Because there was a time when wall to wall carpet was the "in" thing. There are a lot of gorgeous hardwood floors that are covered by that stuff today. My house is 106 years old and I pulled out the carpet and restored the floors.

I agree but when you think about it that carpet probably helped saved the tiles and preserve them
I love seeing surprises like this!

Why would you cover up such beautiful tile?

@@Digitalhunny this makes sense. And yeah really, fortunate turn of events that someone laid out some thick carpet glue!
I have that steam mop. It's a poulon if I remember correctly and they're awesome. Decently priced too online
I live up the road from Frederick MD!
Beautiful floor
I will never understand why people cover over the old tile floors
