I got one from ebay about 10 years ago it was in good shape . The left channel wasn't working had it fixed and a few replaced and cleaned up i think it set me back about $280
I do like these receivers...I'm not 100% down with the 'style', but they sound really good.
Was this the only receiver sold under the MAC name?
No, they had a MAC1500, MAC 1700, MAC1900, and MAC4100...they also sold a receiver under the name/model Stereotech 1200.

I would return it for a refund if possible. I don't think it's the filter cap. My guess would be the pre-amp or output transistors. Was it sold as-is?
