This line of receivers sounds exceptional when properly tuned up/restored. Your unit looks amazing for 50 years of making music...parties, etc. Thank you for your time.

I repaired a 727 recently for someone. I saw someone in Council Bluffs sold a 939 a couple months ago for $200. I see someone trying to flip it for $600.

I've got a SX 950 on the bench now and was just working on a Kenwood KA 6000...it might be the best sounding Kenwood I've ever heard.

Love these.. wondering if there is any way to get the white lettering on the black buttons back to white ?? I'd be more inclined to look for one if i knew the lettering could be succesfully cleaned up. I did my dad's 737, which doesn't have those buttons. Love the 737 too but I'd like to restore a larger one.

Not sure about the lettering. I’m sure it naturally darkens over time and the solution would be to repaint somehow.

Hi, I have this receiver and have had since I bought it while in the Army in Germany back in 1974. I ran Boss 501's on it. My issue is after all these years, it has stopped working and I live in Ct and can not find all anyone to work/clean/service it. My question do you do this as a hobby or living. I really would like to find someone to fix it. Thanks for your time. Scott from Putnam Ct.

I do this as a hobby. I'm sure there is a brick and mortar shop (or even a shadetree tech with bonafides) within a stone's throw of you.

I have a Sansui qr-4500 but been thinking of getting a sx939 how would you compare the 2?

Assuming you don’t need quad sound and the 939 is in good working and cosmetic condition, I don’t think you would regret the upgrade. If/when the QR needs work you will end up paying a bit more in parts/labor since it’s a quad. Plus I think the 939 has a more balanced look to it aesthetically.

@@millervintagehifi3034the Sansui is my first vintage receiver and I love the sound it reproduces but can’t help to wonder how the pioneer sounds and why not just have both right lol. There’s a couple of 939 near me on marketplace going to try and score one this weekend.
      thanks for the reply
