Union Pacific “Living Legend”

After doubleheading to Kirkwood, Missouri with Frisco 1522, Union Pacific #844 continued solo to Kansas City. This was the first leg of her return to Cheyenne after attending the NRHS convention in St. Louis. She would be the sole star of the UP steam program in 1990 as Challenger 3985 was undergoing work to be converted to oil. The pacing from Holden to Pleasant Hill starting at 21:28 OMG 80 plus miles an hour for quite a stretch. Hat tip to my younger brother Tim who always had the honor of the pace video specialist on all our early train trips. Nobody did it better back in the day!!
