It really depends on how thick are the fins and how long over on the board or over the board is it. The fins can be so thick that they stop being a heat sink and start keeping the heat close to it. Most if not all heatsinks made by heatsink companies know this and don't use to thick of fins so to prevent that from happening. For the length well it matters to go over all parts that need heat transfer to the cooling solution. Other than that it depends on the cooling solution. For fan cooling there is a max to how long it can be in an enclose space while if you are using a open space longer with the heat transfer parts going all the way through will be better as to get the heat away from the heat source. You do have a drop off of how much each mm of length when you get away from just over the heat emitting parts.

Anyway, thats an easier method for the future!
Aorus Master is the "normal" version of the Aorus card. The Aorus Extreme adds another 8 pin power connector and allows for a much higher power limit. Also, I bet the higher CPU temps are mostly because the airflow from the radiator is being restricted by the larger card.

Hiro 'sleep running' at 5:10ish. Love that big guy. I also like the note pad documentation. Why waste time making the digital graphs (unless you are presenting to shareholders, etc...)
Using a beast like this in a H510 is crazy. This is a midrange case made for midrange GPU. I got one and it's fine for my 2060s / i5-9600k rig. the front side-slit is too small for an AIO to be effective. Might as well go air cool instead.
This system looks great. That GPU is massive. I wonder how much it weighs. RGB looks good because it isn't over-done. I'm probably not going to win, but I think whoever wins is going to love it.
I feel your pain on the RGB software issue. I have to use G.Skill's software for my Trident Z Neo RAM to get the dual-color comet trail effect, then I use Asrock's motherboard software for my AIO block, then my Deepcool fans are controlled via CoolerMaster's software via an ARGB adapter plugged into an onboard USB header and a manual firmware install of the Mirage series firmware so I could get a dual-tone color wave with the mirage effect.
would be great card for a silent but not passive with horizontal motherboard. The Thermaltake Core V21 would be great candidate for huge cpu and gpu coolers.
At least they are finally screwing the io shields into the coolers and not just the outputs. Wish my asus 2080 ti had them. The bracket doesn't do much at all for it, especially with 1.3kg copper block on it.
MSRP. I bought it from Amazon on their 1st restock after launch. They put them up for sale at like 1am and I happened to be on break at work when it happened.
I wish the major hardware manufacturers could have a small conference and decide on a standard for RGB controlling. I don't know how feasible it would be but they're all getting hurt by how difficult it is for even tech-savvy consumers to get their RGB set up just the way they like it without quirky problems coming up.
Upgrade or downgrade depends not just on the hardware, but also what you are running. If either card will absolutely decimate your workflow, then it is just a grade.
Props for doing this Paul. I was actually wondering two fan or three fan "if and when" I get my hands on a 3060 ti or 3070....but why worry when I can just win this contest..... LOL
I wouldn't be surprised if the CPU temps were higher with the AORUS card because the gigantor 4-slot card basically blocked 1/3 of the airflow through the AIO rad.
@Paul's Hardware, I am going to building a pc soon and was just watching one of your videos saying that you put the radiator in the front of the case. The case I am getting has exhaust fans on the top of the case and it is a full ATX case. Could I put the liquid cooling system on the top of the case instead of the front?
Damn that’s a big boy. I wonder if GPUs will follow the disposable razor industry: "Our competition has a 4 slot card? Damn it boys, let's skip 5 and go to 6 slots."
I would love a six slot graphics card. I expect you would not need much fan speed (noise) for that. But I'd really want to be able to keep the cooling hardware for my next graphics card. I would like it to actually bolt into all six expansion slots, and be able to support itself though.
An expansion slot is 0.8 inches = 20.32mm. So 6 slots is 121.92mm. This graphics card is 319mm long. So if you made it six slots thick, and the same length, without a riser, you could put two 120mm fans on the top / front of it. I think it might be reasonable to re-orient the PCB to lay flat across those six expansion slots, for better air flow.
Wow, this graphics card is already 140mm tall, so at six slots thick you could put 120mm fans on both ends of it, push / pull, blowing all that hot air directly out of that case. Like a blower style card, but amazing.
Yasss my gpu review... No good reviews available for my card 😬 But one note here, your gpu temp seems high.. My gpu at stock clocks and manual curve where at 59/60C, the fans ramps to 75/80%. And max I've seen is 64c in cyberpunk at 4K..clocks remained 2040-2050 Core all the time. I guess its because the warm air intake from cpu rad in front of it.
The problem isnt thicker heatsink....the fans on the other hand, just look at Artic coolings aftermarket, makes the card 3-3.5slot but it also preformes because they have fullsize fans!
6:39 "It's too long for my ruler..." Not many can say this, Paul.

Using a beast like this in a H510 is crazy. This is a midrange case made for midrange GPU. I got one and it's fine for my 2060s / i5-9600k rig. the front side-slit is too small for an AIO to be effective. Might as well go air cool instead.

Meahile Paul: I have my dairy here and noted the results down with pencil.

I like the dog he’s so cute 5:14 what a sleepy boy
would be great card for a silent but not passive with horizontal motherboard. The Thermaltake Core V21 would be great candidate for huge cpu and gpu coolers.
really like the aio tube route. beauty build Paul. keep up the good work
Note the Xtreme version has higher stock voltage & clock speed than the Master. It also requires three 8-pins 🤘🏼😎
Paul, you could have put the data on spreadsheet and still have the highlighted colors.
At least they are finally screwing the io shields into the coolers and not just the outputs. Wish my asus 2080 ti had them. The bracket doesn't do much at all for it, especially with 1.3kg copper block on it.
This card would be sitting right on top of the PSU basement in my microatx build. What a chonker.
I wasn't wrong. We are going to need a gpu enclosures for ATX builds now....
Kinda cool to see these retailers not being out of touch and feeling our out of stock pain by sponsoring these giveaways
I think paul is one of only 7 people that got the Aorus software to even detect the GPU. My xtreme is still in stock rainbow colors.
Literally ran into the Bios issue with my 5800x the other day. Good thing I still had my 3600.
how much did you pay for the 5800x?
LOL
I have the 3090 version of this card. It cools so well that the fans don’t need to spin often. It’s a cool beast!
I undervolted this Aorus GPU and it's the coolest GPU and powerful I have ever had. Hitting 2040-2055 in games all the time on 0.956V
Gillette the best a ma'am can get.
It has so many copper heat pipes inside of it. it's like it has its own lighting system without even plugging it in.
Custom waterlooped my 3080. 44 deg max at a 2-slot width. I'm happy :)
If you click on the Mobo Ram or GPU in Aorus Fusion you can set the colours individually for each part.
If I find it, big or not, it's going to fit and sing a song while doing so.
Paul: I'm gonna flip the AIO because the GPU might not fit.
Me: Darn.
looks like they built it around the greatest ITX case ever crafted, the Ncase M1
Yasss my gpu review... No good reviews available for my card 😬
But one note here, your gpu temp seems high.. My gpu at stock clocks and manual curve where at 59/60C, the fans ramps to 75/80%. And max I've seen is 64c in cyberpunk at 4K..clocks remained 2040-2050 Core all the time.
I guess its because the warm air intake from cpu rad in front of it.
Big heatsink yet still runs hot. Good job trying to hide GPU temp on that stock 84% fan speed though.
The problem isnt thicker heatsink....the fans on the other hand, just look at Artic coolings aftermarket, makes the card 3-3.5slot but it also preformes because they have fullsize fans!
My 3080 Aorus Xtreme comes to max 63c degree and fans speed is 75% max on OC mode. Amazing card.
BEST GRAPHICS out of any reviewer, I can't imagine how many hours were spent preparing those graphs WOW!
If that thing can run unoptimized Saints Row 2 PC perfectly, then I will consider it.
