    Toyota have been absolutely killing it with design in the last few years.

    Really think Toyota are doing some really good things with the new generation cars (apart from the capacitive buttons in the Venza). Would be really interested to hear your long term thoughts on this kind of car, hope they give you some of these as long term testers for you and Brian.

    When did Toyota suddenly become stylish? Really impressed with this and the new Prius (did I just use the P word?! 😅)

      Akio Toyoda was really annoyed by the design and performance of the previous generations and made them follow his philosophy (he is a very accomplished racing driver).

      They're getting more stylish. Their new bZ Concept Compact SUV looks terrific. Rumors are that it'll be the next production bZ. Exterior won't change much but interior of course will .

    If all it takes to make sedans relevant again is to call them "elevated" then Toyota are onto something

    Interesting semi cross-over concept. The Crown was a car they only had in Japan next to maybe some other small markets to my knowledge. Probably because it competed too much with certain Lexus models. Interesting that they will be bringing this to the US now. I wonder how it will sell.

    It should have a liftback. The design wouldn't change at all, but then it could _maybe_ steal some sales from "Coupé" SUVs. As it stands, I don't see the point at all.

    I remember that Toyota Crown was one of the car in my childhood that reminds me of a premium sedan. Design language wise, Toyota has really outdone themselves. They makes the new Crown a really interesting looking car. However, I feel the new Honda Accord does better in both Premium materiel/feeling and room practicality. I know the Crown is at least half level if not whole level more premium than Accord. Maybe when we can really test drive one of these, we can appreciate the power/dynamic the new Toyota Hybrid system makes.

    Many seem to be copying from Citroen for years. First the innovative dual-level headlights that many copied, now the crossover silhouette of the C4/C5. Citroen sets trends!

    This thing has the same room for passengers as my mother's Yaris, but probably needs double the amount of materials to be made. And that seems to be the trend in most cars nowadays.
    I'd say that's something to be bothered about, even more than the leather on the seats.

    What's the point of bringing out new ICE or hybrid cars in 2023? WTF went wrong at Toyota? First the had a fairly early start and then they not only lost that head start but also all pace with even the less electric car focused companies, and are now sadly trailing everyone else and lobbying against it?
    Sad to see. The car is pretty, but nobody should seriously consider buying a new ICE car at this point. Keeping the existing one perhaps, but buying new is completely out of the question.

    • @JetsetDruid
      @JetsetDruid ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah agreed, I said similar for the new Prius, great looking car but why are Toyota clinging to the past when it comes to power trains? They are going to get left behind by other manufacturers (especially some of those coming out of China)

      There are still plenty of people who need the convenience of gas. Long commutes to rural locations, people who rent and cannot reliably charge overnight, etc. Electric cars are still very much in the early stages and massive progress in terms of range + battery sustainability is still to be made.

    Saw it in person today at the LAAS and the styling was a total miss for me. The new Prius was much stronger. I am glad Toyota is still investing in a sedan-ish platform but this didn't do much for me.
