    One of the most memorable Canadian songs ever from the 80's. Prism, with Ron Tabac (RIP), was an iconic Canadian band.

      I love this band but anything from Rush is more memorable.

      Why even compare the two (Prism and Rush)? Appreciate both. And Ron Tabak’s voice was definitely memorable. - From a native Canadian 🇨🇦😊

    • @briggsquantum
      @briggsquantum ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juliebedford454 And if Rush had Tabac as a lead singer instead of Helium Boy they would have had more success than they could handle. Tabac had a great set of pipes, and they never sounded better than they do here. But you're right, the comparison is foolish.

      briggsquantum; it's Tabak and Geddy Lee is a waaay better singer than you and most of the popular singers out now will ever be.

    I've never walked foot on Earth at the same time as Ron Tabak, but I got really into prism when I was ten. I was driving back home from Calgary the other day & this song came on the radio. I hadn't listened to it in a few years, & I was amazed how much more I liked it today. The lyrics & the tune just have such a tragic energy to it.
    It's almost like it was a requiem for Ron before he even died.
    Maybe I'm a little drunk, but I get a lot of enjoyment from Ron's whacko head gesturing & facial expressions.

    I grew up in Vancouver also and I too was a young Prism fan.
    I'll never forget back in the summer of '84, I was selling ice cream in the PNE parade up Hastings street. Ron Tabak of Prism was in the parade on foot, waving (of course) and handing out Prism buttons. At one point as he passed by me, he gave me a little head shake and put a Prism button in the ice cream cooler I was walking around with. It likely meant nothing to him but I thought it was such a big deal at the time.
    RIP Ron

      84? Hmmmmm must’ve been earlier than that because that’s the year he passed away and he wasn’t with the band. Actually, they were talking about getting back together.

    I remember in about 2002 (when I was 20) I drove about 4 hours in a blizzard to see Prism in a small town bar in Saskatchewan... when I got there I was told they sold out of tickets... so I stood out in the snow for about 20 minutes listening at the door till the bouncer let me in. The deal was you paid for the ticket and you get a free beer, as he let me in he handed me the beer and I told him he could keep it... I was only there for one thing to see Prism. It was a really good concert.

    I grew up in Vancouver and loved all the local bands that "hit it big": Loverboy, Prism, Chilliwack, Adams, The Headpins, etc. On Christmas 1984 I received a brand new ghetto blaster from my folks--I was 12, I guess. That night I had it tuned to 99.3 C-FOX when I heard the news about Ron Tabak's death.

    As the band was preparing to record their next album in the summer of 1981, Tabak (lead singer) was fired. Various reasons cited were his conflicts with other band members, several run-ins with the law, lack of songwriting ability and his refusal to conduct interviews due to his stutter. Saw them live last year with Al Harlow as lead singer and they put on a great show!
